  1. Yes, I checked into the crystals. But the stuff that Celebrating Home sells are definitely the beads. I guess I should just bite the bullet and purchase some to see what they use to prevent them from melting or sticking together. Maybe there is an ingredient list on the packaging. Thought I would try here first before I spend the $$. Thanks tho!

  2. Ok, so I scented up a batch of Aroma Beads. Tried it in the Ooh La Lamp. Everything seemed fine. Shut it off before I went to bed. Got up in the morning and noticed all the beads melted to the cage! It is only a 15 watt bulb in those lamps. What do they add to their "Aroma Crystals" (which are actually the beads) to prevent them from melting together?

  3. Aztec must be a pretty huge facility then. I never knew they were that large. They sure are on top of things and I am impressed. Even though I had to pay more it was such a smooth and seamless transaction. Just have to wonder if Aztec's order "trumped" mine. Anyway, they must send a truck to get their orders from candlewarmers because they don't have that much of a profit margin if they pay shipping charges. I pay about $1.50 per warmer and Aztec's price is about $3 higher than Candlewarmers so they would only be making $1.50 each.

  4. Ok, so here is what happened next! After talking with Candlewarmers extensively about how poorly this was handled I had them go ahead and ship the rest of my large order since they "sold out" of the Illumination Snowflake that I ordered several weeks prior. I get the shipment in and notice 30 of the owl plug ins are missing. It's on the invoice that they should be there. I called to see where it was in transit because now at this point I only had 2 days before customers were to pick these up. Guess what? They were OUT OF STOCK and just sent me the rest of my order anyway! They never told me they were OOS when I talked to them the week earlier about how unprofessional they handled the situation about the snowflake warmers! So now, I had 2 days to find 30 owl plug ins! UNBELIEVEABLE! They very strange thing is I went back to Aztec (where I found the Snowflake warmers) and placed another order from them for the 30 owls. Ok, so I am mad because if I had known Candlewarmers was out I could have saved $$ on shipping by combining all the warmers from Aztec....but besides that, Why does Aztec have so many warmers in stock???? There was no problem ordering that kind of quantity from Aztec, but the mother company is now SOLD OUT of at least 2 types of warmers (that I know of) and Aztec had so many in stock they didn't flinch when I asked if they had enough to fill my order...something is going on between these two companies. Does anyone know the connection?

  5. Totally agree! Aztec handled that situation perfectly. The "big companies" may order one extremely large order, but us little guys come back again and again (if they do business right). I got an email yesterday from candlewarmers and she said they had a meeting about how to handle/change this problem. As of right now there is no way to have prepaid orders held. In my mind what is the use of placing an order if they can't ship you everything at once. You know shipping is really high from candlewarmers so I wanted everything shipped together to save on the shipping. Especially since I didn't need it for a couple weeks. I just wanted to make sure I got my order in before they sold out of certain things. It was in stock at the time I ordered. I am beginning to wonder if they sold the rest of my order (or parts of) because they are still giving me the run around depending on who I talk to. I am so worked up about this. I have to have that product here by next Friday. They are going to have to ship TODAY if it is to get here on time. They are a few hours behind us so I am calling them again once they open. Wish me luck!

  6. Ok, so I ordered 12 Illumination Snowflake warmers back about 2 weeks ago. Gave them a cc number and asked them to ship on the 5th. I have ordered over $1000 again this month so I am a pretty good customer (I thought). I get an email on Monday saying my cc was declined. I know that can't be #1 I have a huge limit, and #2 I just called my cc company and $0 balance and in perfect standing. Also, I wondered why they were just now charging my order to the cc card when it was supposed to be charged when I placed the order. Anyway, in the email it said they were getting my order ready to ship when they realized the cc wouldn't go thru. So as of then "THEY WERE GETTING MY ORDER READY TO SHIP". So, I would ASSUME they had the items at that point. So I call them about the cc and she tells me they used a Discover #. Well I don't HAVE a discover and I tell them that and she says well, we have ZERO Snowflake warmers in stock. I am like What? You are kidding me! I placed the order 2 weeks ago and they were in stock, I paid for them. She said some big company came in and bought all of them and so they don't have a single one in stock! REALLY? I just can't believe they can't put prepaid orders in a separate area so that they don't get sold! I just don't understand the email, and I really don't get why they sold my order to someone else! Long story short....I need at least EIGHT more Illumination warmers by the 17th. These are already sold and paid for by my customers. Do any of you know where I can get that many at WHOLESALE?

  7. Hi Dana,

Not sure I understand what you are saying.

You mean the things you have made up for your show what ever sells she is going to give you your wholesale price of whatever you charge her and she is keeping the rest of the money?  If that is what you mean...what kind of deal is that?  You know my answer would be "NO WAY".....Just pay her to man your booth.  How would you make out if you did this?  You still have the cost of paying for your booth, so you would be in the hole the way I see it.

    Trappeur

Yes, Trappeur. You have it correct. AFTER the show, she would "buy" what had sold for the weekend at her regular wholesale price. She was going to pay the booth fee. I originally was thinking she would just sell the stuff she already had in her store...THEN after the show she would need more product in her store so she would probably place a wholesale order. She said NO WAY to that, and came up with this "proposal" of selling product I bring and THEN paying for only what sold. She thought I was crazy, I thought she was crazy. To bad we are friends to boot, lol. I left her a voicemail on Friday (she didn't answer) and explained I didn't think it would work out so I would just do the show and I hoped there are no hard feelings. I have not heard back from her yet...My husband said I never should have mentioned it to her, but she has always wanted to try that show and couldn't get in and since I didn't really want to this time around (really freezing cold and rained last year) thought since I was already signed up she could sell the candles. She has strict guidelines she follows of doubling her money no matter what so to her that was the only way she could see it being profitable. I explained it is a very fast turn around of money so sometimes you just give an inch to make more in a weekend than you would seriously in a month or 2! I was being very generous but she didn't see it that way I guess. I made a mistake and will not ever offer the space to her again!

  8. I have a huge 3 day show that I have a prime spot rented. I really am tired of doing the shows but this one is a really big money maker. I have a wholesale customer in that area who has shown interest in sitting in for me. My thought was that she would sell her inventory (some of it anyway, she has a whole room filled with product) and then place another wholesale order according to what she needed. That way we wouldn't lose out on the customers that count on me being there every year. I have always plugged her store with every sale and let them know where to purchase more of my candles throughout the year, so it seemed fitting to have her work the show. I thought, that way she could do a quick turn around with inventory and I would at least make some by filling another wholesale order. I would make a lot more by doing the show myself, but like I said I am getting burned out. The store owner thought that I should bring all the stuff I would normally bring, and she would "purchase" only what sells at wholesale cost. So, in other words double her money on a consignment type basis for the weekend. Sounded like a lot of work to me for just wholesale profit. Has anyone else done something like this and have someone else work the show and what type of profit do they make?

  9. Ok, I have never had this happen before. I was wondering (did a search and couldn't find answers) if maybe the lye was old and didn't saponify the oil completely? It seemed a little weird even at first when I added the lye (had to chisel it out of the can) to the frozen goats milk. The lye/milk mixture turned really thick... like it was ready to mild. Then when I added it to my oils it traced very quickly but I was using a new fragrance (honeysuckle) so thought that was why. Then within hours of molding the batch started seeping- big time. Puddles of oil are laying on top. Almost the entire batch is covered with oil. Not sure what to do with it now?

  10. Has happened many times to me! I don't know if its the air flow in the house or the humidity level but I had the whole house fan on and COULD NOT smell it, then turned it off and COULD smell it. Not sure if it's candle nose or what I mentioned above....I had a customer return 2 of my best selling candles, said she couldn't smell them. I lit them (the exact candles that she 1/2 burned)and the scent went all through my house like crazy! Not sure what the heck causes it!

  11. LOVE your shop! I only have a 12 x 25 gift shop and believe me you can get tons of stuff in there! Be creative! I love the floors in your shop and the walls are a blank canvas! My workshop is 25x30 and THAT space I do need more room. This time of year is crazy with trying to make product, package product, store product, new supplies coming in, Xmas décor coming out, cardboard galore....I actually hate it when people peek through the window on the door! I don't want them to see my "organized mess"! I would put a curtain over the window but I like to be able to see when customers walk in the front door.

Question for you. What are you putting on the flooring in your workspace? I need to replace my waxy commercial carpet but am thinking I need something easy to clean or else disposable. Any thoughts on your flooring?
