  1. Yes Davidson is a cool little town. I am within walking distance to davidson college. Expensive as hell but a good school. Thanks for the honest criticism. I have to give credit where it is due though to Jennifer Strumble at River Street designs I mean flying orange web design. She captured what I wanted vividly.
  2. I am about to start giving some of my local customers my web address but wanted to have some folks give it some criticism. I am particuarly interested in the verbage on the site. It's not completed as in adding text but wanted to be sure I am on the righ path. Thanks http://southernpleasuresbathandbody.com/store/Default.asp
  3. Great Job. My first batch nothing liked like yours I poured before trace and had nothing but a mold of oils.
  4. I also have a wahm site that I am working on as well(Jennifer from Riverstreet did it) So far I am like the set up and you can't beat the hosting fees.
  5. I think the oatmeal on top gives it visual appeal. I do it with mine all the time.
  6. Can anyone tell me the shelf life on these?
  7. Do you have to use any type of preservative with this. This is the one thing I still haven't gotten the answer to. I got some non fat milk to try this out and will be using a FO.
  8. That is disgusting. I most certainly not use those. I agree with everyone else it ash but I swear that is mold growing on there. Don't let one bad experience spoil you on soaps. There is a multitude of many here and on other sites that are doing good business and providing quality products.
  9. From my experience I had good results from using the same oz as my oils. Last batch I had 21 oz of oils not including my water. I added 21 oz of salt.
  10. When I did melt and pour I found a very limited selection of colorants to choose from in Michaels that were suitable for melt and pour. I don't do melt and pour anymore but use celestial colors for my CP soaps. Although I have never tried to use them in melt n pour because I no longer do it. http://www.celestialcolors.com/
  11. Robin this is great info. It amazes me even a year of doing CP I still learn something new. I have wrecked my mind for weeks when I come up with a good recipe but I want to boost my cleansing. I never thought of doing a more than generous lye discount.
  12. At some point your going to want to try CP. I say go for it pending you have done your research thoroughly. I did melt and pour for a month. Got bored with that and starting doing CP.
  13. I already have a can of powdered goats milk. Can this be used instead of just normal plan powdered milk. I know how my goats milk smells like amonia in CP once it goes into the mold. I just don't want the same thing when I put it in the tub. Granted I am not bathing in a tub of lye:cheesy2:
  14. Thanks everyone. I just worked on a lemon poppyseed layer/GM layer. I will be sure to post pictures when it's unmolded.
  15. Okay I soaped this two weekends ago. I must say I am satisfied for once or twice with my soap The scent well lets say it's doesn't smell too much like strawberry kiwi. I got if from Natures Garden. I am off to find a better smelling strawberry kiwi or just plain strawberry from somewhere else.
  16. funny you mentioned this because I started to play with some street names around my former state. Blue Hill Ave. Wellington Hill.. I lived not too far from the Charles River in Boston. Those are giving me ideas as well.
  17. Thanks the southern pleasures one stuck out to me as well. I may have to come up with some variations before someone decides to use it as well.
  18. Okay the more I get addicted to CP the more I think about turning this addictive hobby into a small scale business.Iam only interested in selling enough to pay for my supplies. I have not intentions of leaving my day job for this. I hope next year to get a liceense insurance etc. I have toyed with these names since the majority of what I thought of at first are currently being used by other businesses. I also make bath melts and bath fizzies. I am from the New England area but live in the carolinas. Carolina Soaps and Such New England ScentSations New England City Soaps Southern Pleasures Bath and Body If they suck please don't be hold back from telling me. I am still in early planning mode right now. Thank you.
  19. food coloring will work in MP but I believe it may fade? Don't even try it with CP. It just won't work because of the high temps involved in CP.
  20. Yep it's fine to do that as others have mentioned. I always have a little standby silicon muffin mold laying around to pour the extra batter in to make my travel sized soaps. I do cover them but of course they don't gel because there is not soap in those little containers to generate the heat. They take a little longer to get firm on me and develp ash. They are still usuable
  21. I have done both Cp and HP. Is it anyway to make the HP bars come out not so rough looking? Mine look so ugly compared to my CP bars. I know it's the method because I have used my same recipes in CP and HP.
  22. I usually wait until the next day anyway. Often my bars are way too soft to be used right away.
  23. Looks wonderful. I can't wait to see what it looks like when you cut it. I still have not mastered swirling at all. The most I can seem to get is a marble.
  24. That's the kind I use as well. I have had nothing but great results from it. It's about 7 or 8 bucks for a can. I need to stock up on some more because mine is almost gone. Whatever you do don't use Draino it's not for soaping.
