  1. So that is the secret..sifting..OK I use it in mine but dont get to much film..I don't like to use that much though. More BS and CA. I have a big ? though... Mine dont tend to 'smell' very much. How much FO do you all put in say a 3 cup batch?
  2. Really? I would think it would get all gunky..looked pretty grose when I fed it to my kids. Could not imagine putting that in my water..lol I guess it would be much finer of a product though. Quick salts for me..to use myself not the ones I sell (I put the real good salts in those) 1 cup epsom salt 1 cup kosher salt 1 cup table salt FO & dye to preference I mix the dye/FO with the two larger grains of salt in a zip lock first then add the table salt so it does not clump as much. Shake the crap out of it..let them dry for about 20 minutes and you got bath salts.
  3. If I was to make a sugar scrub and use a lotion or shea butter base to start with instead of making my own from scratch. How much preservative would I put in it and which one would be best? I know the lotion would already have it in there but how would I know what to add to it. OR Would I even need to add anything?:rolleyes2 My mind is going in overdrive trying to find something on this. I used some of Millcreeks soy lotion and added white sugar/dye and FO...until it was perfect consistancy for me. I LOVE IT! and so do a few people I let try it but now I don't know what to do to be able to sell it and it be right.
  4. Has anyone used any bases from New Directions? They have a lot of choices but I was wondering about the quality... I am looking to play around a bit with a few new things and not sure if try their stuff or stick with the companies I know already. Also has anyone tried Bayousome's shampoo & conditioner the silk protein one? Oh and Wow I have not been on here that much lately..look at all the cool things we can do with our messages..lol.. NICE!
  5. Hey I have not posted in a long time but I will jump in on this one. Most wholesale companies offer a FREE display with a certain amount in purchased product. Maybe an entirely full rack with their choice of scents and then give them the rack for free. Also No I would not go around to all the store if you do not have time. Maybe the local ones but I would follow up after you send something to them. Call and ask if they tried the sample and find out if they would like to place an order and maybe even offer a discount if they place one before a certain time frame. I had a store before so I know how most of the wholesale companies do this. I usually opted for the FREE display. Plus they would own the display and you would not have to round it up later. Figure up your cost for the display and then find out how many clamshells they have to buy to get the free display. They should have extra for backstock as well. One of the companies I had your display held 12 but you got 24 of the item with the package deal. Hope that helps you.
  6. I love this topic..I am a frugal person and cheap..lol clothes pins for wick holders pen casing for wick setting gallon ice cream buckets for storing molds, wicks, clothes pins etc..I can stack them when the lids are on and save space...since we moved I have about 1/2 the work space I use to.:undecided baby wipes to clean my pour pots, thermometer and icing spatual between batches...I sold off a bunch of stuff to close down my biz and just recently re-opened and now have to start over and be more frugal...I only have two pour pots..gonna have to grab the coffee can before hubby pitches it. old knives to stir with leftover wax makes nice little melts .5oz ..I use candy cup mold things in the shape of stars. Good idea about the cookie cooling racks..I have tons of those from doing dipped bears..gonna have to pull those puppies back out to cool the candles quicker. tin pie plate to drop wax on to test the color..it is cold and metal so it sets up real fast. I buy droppers for all my B&B safe scents and attatch one to each bottle with a rubber band ..I think I read that on WSP a long time ago and thought is was a great idea. I keep all my 1oz bottles from sample FO's and wash them out with tons of soap and HOT HOT water and reuse them for samples of B&B stuff. In fact I keep pretty much every type of container from butter to bath & body ones that I can take lables off of and re-use for samplers or testers OR when I am trying out a new product and need to store it. I save all bubble wrap and peanuts to ship stuff..use priority mail alot because of the free boxes and stuff.. Oh and the little plastic container that the little debbie pecan spinwheels come in..I have a ton of those..and gonna try some MP soaps in them..they are nice and round..or maybe even some firestarters..use it as a mold and pop it out. oh ..the edges of my biz card paper that you tear off..makes great little inserts for the tabs on your file folders..I am constantly changing mine and they don't give you extras. I shred all sorts of paper..for gift basket stuffing..packing paper..etc. Here is new one I am gonna start doing..the clamshell molds..I tried one and popped it out and packaged it in a little baggie..lookes nice..used a cardstock header ontop.. can punch a hole and hang it...and re-use the mold. ok..I think I am done ..haven't posted anything useful in a while though I would since I had some time.
  7. LOL..well it has patchouli in it so yep it is earthy..ummm maybe not that earthy..lol
  8. ok..gonna have to try that tonight..I need a long hot bath.
  9. How cute those are!..guessing it's a boy.
  10. mmm...bet that smells great..pretty soap.
  11. NICE! I have to say I am loving use shea butter soap..got one from someone local..and I belive I just might have to start making it. Pretty Color!
  12. Robin ..I love your stuff..it always looks so earthy and natural.
  13. You always make such awsome stuff...love them!
  14. yea I know..I always second guess myself..instead of going with my first 'gut' feeling.
  15. GREAT links..thank you..gonna try this..been wanting to try this makeup..but I am not paying that much for it.
  16. I used KH(now keystone)..and I LOVED IT..but yep it turned lotion a light tan color. Not bad though..I still used it and liked it ALOT..it will always be one of my favs. I use to be a die-hard BBW person until I started this stuff. The color change to me..makes me think of the color it should be based on the name of the scent..except you don't HAVE to color it...nice perk huh!
  17. Remember the EpiLady..oh about 15 years ago..it had wires that spun and ripped the hair out by the root..my mom bought me one..and I tried to use it once..and threw it across the room. ..after using a few choice words..that shocked her.
  18. UMMM..yeah hoping someone else will.. Only waxed once..not really wanting to do it again..I would rather have a shot with a big needle.
  19. Very light blue..and I renamed it ocean mist.
  20. ..anyone know what makeup I am talking about..the powdered stuff..that is a foundation and concealer..and is all natural. I am looking for a recipe for it..I have a list of ingredients but not good on the proportion stuff...this is what I got as a list Titanium Dioxide, Serecite, Iron Oxides, blue pigment (?why), gold fine mica, oriental beige mica. I have light/fair skin so I have no idea how much of each of these to put in or where to get some of the ingredients?
  21. OK..I wrote it on my list so Sultry it is. Thanks all you gave me some great ideas for other blends as well.
  22. so you are saying seafoam is a lighter version of teal? OK..that makes sense.
  23. yellow..I think seafoam would have a touch..and I mean a touch of yellow
  24. hmm...my mind is going..and Sultry came to mind? whatcha think? does it fit the fo's
