  1. I think its just the nature of the beast...I sometimes get a white ring around the bottom of my container jars if they are older candles...I don't use dye, just the natural creamy-ness of soywax and you can still see this really white ring and its in the very bottom of the candle so I don't think air is a culprit, I suspect it is just the 'frost' that soy can get...could possibly be from temperature changes, I don't know...its annoying but what do ya do?!!

  2. Is there anyway of knowing if suppliers oils are from the same manufacturers? If anyone knows if the oils from Mill Creek are the the same as say Southern Scentsations I'd love to hear your input.

I have tested mainly MC oils but if it's the same as another wholesalers I could take advantage of more of the oils for sale on the classy's without re-testing.

    Thanks

Sorry to tell ya, but you will ALWAYS have to re-test any oil you receive from another company..even if you suspect them to be the same oil....its for the benefit of your business to always test a new oil from somewhere else. As for knowing who has the exact oils, I would think that is all proprietary info and no one is going to know that unless they have inside sources...just my opinion!:grin2:

  3. I made a candle using: 1 oz per pound and a CD 16 wick for a 8 oz wide mouth. I had a fuel smell. I thought maybe it was my nose so I had a friend try it and she said it reminded her of a strange medicine type smell lol I also tried it with sugar cookie to see if I could come up with a lemon drop cookie. It wasn't a great idea for a candle burning but was great in tarts. I wish I could find a good bakery lemon scent that doesn't smell like fuel. I will never understand why adding a wick really affects a citrus scent like this.

At least it doesn't go to waste and it can be used for tarts :D

Jami, if you are looking for a good bakery lemon, try the lemon pound cake at BCS...its awesome and no fuel..or try the lemon bundt cake special (closeout) at BCN...this one is good also, and no fuel...these are bakery types, not straight lemons...HTH

  4. I always used blackberry crisp and ordered Daystars during the free shipping to try and I was disappointed that to me they smelled the same. Good thing I only orderd one pound.

oops sorry, see you're saying hearfelt. I carry(formely) A scent shop's blackberry crisp.

Thank you for your reply, don't be sorry, this is exactly what I was looking for..something that compares to the bjbc....I will have to check out ASS's (now FOC) BC!

Edited: Guess they must be alot alike, they are just as expensive as DS! Holy cow....

  5. They are going parcel post b/c some oils can't be sent priority. I don't believe she ships UPS, she is trying to keep shipping cost down.

Oh my..so what is the price difference between parcel post and ups? A couple bucks, big deal if it means you can get your stuff within a couple of days instead of WEEKS!!!! Glad I know this now....:undecided

  6. Hi all, well I had a request for the Origins Everything Nice scent....I'm not familiar with this scent, anyone see it anywhere out there yet? I checked a few sites that have alot of dupes but I'm not seeing it! It is described as “The sugary sweet scent of Vanilla, Grapefruit and Tonka Bean. The spicy warmth of Cinnamon, Clove and Nutmeg.”

Does this sound familiar to anyone...thanks for any and all input!

  7. I I signed up for an email notification from them for when they reopen. I'm thinking positively!

Of course, I'm positive I have a real headache now, too.......

What a nightmare this is turning out to be...anyway, I signed up for their newsletter notification of when they open back up! At least they have something on their home page of the website about opening back up. Now its just a matter of wait and see....

  8. Other good ones, but not as great as candletech forum

    http://scentreviewboard.obisoap.ca/index.php

    http://www.thescentreview.com/

Those can be handy sites too, but for the most part, the scentreviewboard caters to soaping opinions, and thescentreview is a ghost town and the moderator guy over there needs to learn some new social skills!:undecided

The one posted in the beginning of this thread caters more to the candlemaker so you can find 'ratings' on fo's...whether they smell good, worked in wax, etc...also suppliers are rated...so the scentforum is quite a useful tool for the candlemaker...its not a message board, but it does need input from candlemakers! Hope more people will use it!

  9. Bumping this back up to try and get more people to utilize this site...please rate the fragrance oils..can help us all when deciding what to try! I have looked up a couple that I was interested in and found some great opinions..some made me want to try and some made me decide not to try it.....also great for supplier reviews.....hoping more people will take the time and post reviews on this site!:highfive:

  10. ROFL that's funny! I'm gonna order a bunch (LAST DAY EVERYONE!!)

I can't wait to try Connie's Blue Sugar, and oh about 10 others. :D

Today isn't the last day...you have until May 7th....the dates were wrong when they posted the sale..it was corrected the other day! So you all have another week to get your orders in if you want!

  11. Thank you for clarifying all of this glo....I just read your announcement in the supplier sale and was even more confused.........LOL! Yes, your announcement has the old dates...says the sale started last monday and ends this monday....ok, now I got it all down!

  12. Ok, I went to look at some of their oils to see what was 'in stock' and started looking around the site at other things and most everything else is out of stock also...linen spray, beeswax, additives, some of the colors, water crystals..pretty much most items! They have wax and a few fragrance oils...that's about it! What is up...if they are going out of business they should really inform the public...why bother with their stuff if you aren't going to be able to get it! Anyone know what's going on with BG?

  13. April 17th--so in the eye of newt formula the new wax amount is 8.9 oz am I getting the idea not the 10 oz we started with. Boy do I feel like a idiot.

    April 22 (4 days ago)--

Ok when I am wrong I admit it. I have been using rrd47 wicks with regular mouth and wide mouth masons, I can't get the stupid things to throw. Wonderful cold throw, nice melt pool, no fragrance. I have cured 2 weeks. I am frantic. I was having a way too good time pouring. Like the doofus I tend to be I put the wicks in with stickums. Now I have way too many candles that are of no use. No not just a few we are talking a bunch!! what The heck do I do NOW HELP!!!! If I remelt will it affect the FO's, I use C3 can I make tarts clams shells or something useful with this MESS.

P.S. I am ordering different wicks

April 23 (3 days ago)--The rrd47's seem to work good in the 8 oz jelly (after I calmed myself down and took some deeps breaths) I was testing in the kitchen where i pour and no wonder I couldn't smell them:shocked2: . Moved my testers to basement and bathroom big difference. Still not what I want in the 16 oz wide mouths. So my bigger wicks are coming and I melt and repoured to the 8 oz jellywith the rrd 47's. Thanks for all the encouragement and tips.

It sure seems like you don't have a candle perfected yet and you are still going through with a fundraiser? Sounds to me like you are still testing wicks....Hmmm...please don't put these unsuspecting people into harms way...bow out of this thing NOW! You have NO business selling candles to anyone yet! The fact that you have already been out to businesses trying to get your candles in is quite scary....you are no where near ready for this. Just so you are aware, if you do sell these candles that are not properly tested, you ARE WILLFULLY putting peoples lives at risk! Since you seem to want to 'pray' for things, you had better be praying pretty loudly to the 'fire gods' to protect these poor unsuspecting people and their homes!
