  1. thanks, laura...question...if i were to remelt a candle that was poured a couple days ago, but hasn't been burned yet, and heated it up to 170*...would that increase the incorporation of the FO? i think i added the FO at 150-155* something like that. or it a one shot thing? meaning once it is added at the lower temp, too bad, so sad....
  2. i just got a sample of Decadant Orange Fluff Cake from DS (a freebie...thanks, Stacey!). it has a flash point of 150*. how do you handle FO's with lower flashpints, if FO's are sposed to be added to wax when hot for maximum incorporation? i had always added FO at 120* as per the instructions for EZsoy, but have recently started adding it hotter...150-155*. i think this does make a difference. i was just wondering how you all handle FO with the lower FP? thanks for any info!:smiley2:
  3. i have used a program called Label Factory Deluxe for several years now. it's affordabe and user friendly.
  4. yeppers...at least mine does and other's have described it that way too...among other "flowery" adjectives...
  5. yes...it's very fishy smelling...or at least that's the nice way of putting it...LOL! i have never had the smell of btms-50 come thru in a finished product...now the optipehn, on the other hand, yes...i can smell that even thru FO's. i just use it my scrubs b/c it's what i have on hand that can be used in anhydrous products.
  6. really?? i couldn't stand it...each nose is so different, eh?
  7. that is what i use as it can be used in anhydrous and well as hydrous. i quit using it a long time ago in my lotions/creams as i could smell it in the finished product....not cool....
  8. hi, kimdles...thanks for your kind words...i use an epson cx4800....LLLLOOOOVVVEEEE IT!!
  9. thank you so much! slyfoxy...i printed the hang tags on cardstock and cut them out.
  10. you could always use the red silicone muffin pans. i have poured leftover wax into them and they pop right out. they are the perfect shape too.
  11. thanks for you response. if too much fo or too large of wick may be the cause, why does it not soot the whole time the candle has been burned? why just towards the bottom?
  12. as the title says...what is the general cause of sooting (around the top of the jar)? *if* i get any, it's when the candle (100% soy) has about 2" left or so....is it a wick issue or a wax issue?
  13. there's lots of places to get the vinyl waterproof labels...but i get mine from www.elementsbathandbody.com tammy is great! i think scent works carry them...online lables.com...maybe a few others, that all i can think of at the moment.
  14. thanks, ladies! Jeana asked.... NO!! i will not miss the hangtag...that's one of the reasons i wasn't always thrilled about making candles, b/c of the labeling...now it is much quicker. i actually use the same labels for these as i do all my products...vinyl waterproof. the printing is just so much crisper than printing on a paper label.
  15. thank you ladies for all your feedback. as far as my container of choice goes...it's my style...simple...so that's what i went with...i think the label adds a splash of upscale-ness to comliment the simplicity of the jar...i too have very wealthy people who love my candles...even when i was using my previous, less than upscale label. kimmeroo...i also have a 4oz travel candle...so, just those two. i just wanted to offer a nice simple, classy looking candle to go with the rest of my b & b line and don't really intend to make candles my main focus. thanks, again, for all your kind words.:embarasse carrie www.daisygirlbath.com
  16. thank you! yes, i designed it myself....as with all my labels...i can spend (waste) looootttsss of time fidling around with a label design....but it's kinda fun.
  17. thank you, jooniper...and everyone else...feedback from peers always means so much. yes, i do print them myself.
  18. hi, there...it's just jasmine wax...it's a floral wax. this candle smells soooo good...i can't wait to burn it. it's just ne 13 oz candle. will update when i burn it.
  19. i know i don't post much...but do enjoy reading. i thought i'd share my new candle labels with you...thanks for looking.:embarasse BEFORE: AFTER:
  20. or has anyone ever done this? i just some added jasmine sambac wax to my melted soy wax at 5% of the total weight of my soywax. i thought i would add a little vanilla (tres magnifique from DS) too for a jasmine vanilla candle...whatcha think?
  21. wow...i started with and still use ex soy...i get very little frosting and if poured at the right temp, never get lumpy tops. i only heat mine to 160*..cool to 120* then add my fo, then let it continue to cool till it's quite thick and slushy....i have very few candles that don't turn out. imo, it's very oily....
  22. wow...that's totally different info than i have read...i only heat my soy wax to 160* let it cool to 120*, THEN add the FO...allow to cool more to till it's slushy and then pour....i get super smooth tops and great throw. to the OP..to me it looks like you poured too hot. all the info i have ever read says to that soy likes to poured cool....to get smooth tops anyway.
