  1. Bramble Berry's Sensuous Sandalwood is also good.
  2. Bitter Creek North has a Tomato Leaf FO that smells pretty darn close to the real thing. I think it smells wonderful.
  3. I don't know the answer to the question about coconut oil reducing the amount of fragrance the wax can hold; however, it's not really true that oil is oil, at least not when you're comparing coconut oil and fragrances. Coconut is a fixed oil, and FO is a volatile oil. Try dipping one strip of paper in coconut oil and another in fragrance oil, then let them sit overnight. You'll see that the two "oils" behave very differently on the paper, and I'm guessing they behave differently in a candle as well.
  4. Melbourne IT is where she registered the domain name. The host is Yahoo -- that's what the name server info means.
  5. I use beeswax at 4% with EZ Soy. I tried 3%, and it didn't quite do it for me. I don't know if it helps with frosting -- frosting doesn't bother me, so I don't pay any attention to it -- but it definitely helps for getting nice, smooth tops.
  6. I make votives with 85% EZ Soy and 15% beeswax, and they're fine as long as I burn them in close-fitting votive holders. I wouldn't try it with pillars, though.
  7. But wouldn't that be like seeking out suppliers with the highest prices so you'd have more expenses to claim at the end of the year?
  8. From your list I like Forget Me Not, Green Tea and Cucumber, and Sweet Orange/Green Clover. I also like French Vanilla & Oak, Madagascar Spice, Moonshadow, Neroli, Ozark Forest, Rooibos Tea, Tibetan Black Tea, and White Tea.
  9. I think it looks cool, and it will probably look even better when it's cut into bars. Sometimes soap that doesn't do what you had in mind turns out to be really neat. Roxanne
  10. It looks like only image files can be attached: "Valid file extensions: bmp gif jpeg jpg png." Erin, how big is your spreadsheet, as in how many rows and how many columns? Roxanne
  11. Powdered orange peel also seems to help orange-scented soap hold onto its fragrance longer. I use 1/2 teaspoon per pound of oils.
  12. Actually, it was rated pretty highly on its own as well, and definitely rated better than the other "natural" antioxidants tested: I use ROE at a rate of 1/10th teaspoon per pound of oils, added when I melt the oils for a batch. (I don't add it to the oils in the bottle because I use some of them for cooking also. I think it's edible, but that doesn't mean I want to eat it. ) At that addition rate it the scent doesn't come through at all, and any effect on color is too slight to bother me.It definitely helps with DOS. It isn't a guarantee, and I still sometimes get DOS because of the humidity here, but soaps with ROE are much less likely to get spots than those without it.
  13. I love the Nebraska Sunflowers from Scent Works in soap and in soy candles. It's fresh, not too sweet, and has a hint of citrus to my nose.
  14. According to my calipers, it's 0.015 inch, which I believe is 15 mils. Make sure what you order is heat resistant. I bought cheaper sheets at the hobby store one time that weren't designed for high temps, and they warped when the soap gelled.
  15. I haven't tried Nature's Garden Witches Brew, so I have no business posting in this thread, but ... I read a comment on another board that it's mainly a tobacco scent with spices. Any chance the mystery note you're smelling is tobacco?
  16. In 8-oz tins, I use CD-14s with some scents and CD-18s with others. And there are a few scents (like blends using patchouli EO) that leave a rim with the CD-18, so I'm experimenting with double wicking those. My wax is EZ Soy with about 5% beeswax added.
