  1. At Oak Court Creations where you can get the card stock (sheets or cut out shapes) they have Heat Transfer Paper. Have any of you used this? Not sure how professional it will look.
  2. I thought about doing air fresheners for cars a long time ago but never got around to doing them. I am thinking of doing them again but really do not like the look of a blank card stock even if it is shaped. It looks like it is missing something. Do any of you do these with your logo imprinted on them, and if so, where can this be done? Thank you!
  3. Thanks, Janet. I will do it the normal way as well. Do you use wax embeds? If so, do you make your own or do you by them?
  4. I watched a Nature Garden video on making whipped wax and she added the fragrance oil in when the wax was starting to solidify (she was stirring with a knife at this point) and then she whipped it. She did not explain why. Is there a reason why she added it after it started to solidify rather than at the normal time that we do when making regular wax candles?
  5. I agree. I always tell my customers the drawback to double wicked candles is they will burn faster. I mainly buy for scent throw, so I prefer double wicked candles. I actually like both....double wicked for larger areas and single wicked for smaller areas. I like the look of a lot of the single wicked candles....pretty narrow jars.
  6. Yes, I think it was Sam's Club where this person got them. I just placed an order for the Dart cups. Thanks so much for your help I will just use the other ones I have for weighing my fragrance oils for testers only and not use them for sample tarts.
  7. Thanks again! I do wish the lid's flat part was a little wider. Someone gave me some one time that had lids that the flat part was further out to the edge. Not sure if I have that bag anymore....think I kept a few. Do you label the lid? Also, it do you get the clear plastic ones from Dart? It looks like they have the frosted ones as well.
  8. I have had tart cups sitting around for awhile and have experienced slight melting of the cup at the bottom with some fragrances. Is this what you experienced with Solo cups but not with the Dart brand? I notice that the Dart lids have a smooth circle on top which would be better for labels. Thanks again.
  9. Thanks, Beezy. I will look into it. What did you experience with Solo cups? I only use them to make samples and testers.
  10. I currently use the plastic Solo cups for my sample melts, but I would like to get the ones that have the smooth lids. I have seen them before but do not know where to get them. The Solo cup lids have a rough logo on the lid which makes it harder to adhere a label on the lid and does not look smooth. Thanks for any suggestions where I can find these.
  11. When Gold Canyon (double wicked candles) candles used to burn well and were at their best, they blew most single wicked companies out of the water. That is when I became hooked on double wicked candles and found the double wicking was the way for me for my main line. I did have single wicked candles that did well too but they were a smaller line and best in smaller areas.
  12. P.S. Double wicked candles will definitely throw the scent faster, especially in the larger jars.
  13. From my findings (I am a double wicker with main line), if you compare a wellmade (proper combinations - wax, wick, FO, etc.) single wicked candle and a wellmade double wicked candle, the throw will be stronger in a double wicked candle. Athough, there can be duddy double wicked candles as well as duddy single wicked candles. A wellmade single wicked candle can do really well though in smaller areas and even in larger areas if it happens to have a kick butt throw. I find that candles that are single wicked in a jar that is too wide to get hot enough will definitely not do as well as the same jar with two wicks. Some jars have to be single wicked and do fine in smaller areas. I have always preferred a great burning double wicked candle for scent throw over a single wicked candle. I have burn many candles, not only the ones I have made but many from other companies. I find that the double wicked candles normally win handsdown over a single wicked candle scent throw wise, but I have made a few kick throw single wicked candles for their size, including tealights. HTH
  14. I finally got around to testing Ocean Rock (had it in my stash for awhile), and I love it. I went on their website to order it along with a few other things and notice that it is on their closeout list! Darn! I will still order it, but I sure hope I can find the same scent somewhere else when I run out down the road. Does anyone know of a scent that is exactly the same from somewhere else? Also, they have Christmas Bazaar on their closeout list as well and that was one of my best sellers before I closed up shop two years ago. I am so bummed. I never did run into this scent anywhere else. Thanks for any leads on these two.
  15. Thanks, Noodle. They are fantastic and one of the first companies I bought from in the beginning of my candle making days.
  16. Hopefully, someday you can have horses again. I can sure relate to them being the love of your life....they are for me as well. If you would like to hook up on Facebook, look me up. https://www.facebook.com/#!/hollyjohnson.63
  17. Horsescents, BTW, do you have horses?
  18. You are welcome. Looks like you and I have similar noses. I love their Birthday Cake too! I have that one as well. I tested many and Peaks won hands down. I like their Sugar Cookie too....tested many sugar cookies and Peaks won. I never finalized it in candles.....may not throw as strong in candles but does well in melts. This is typical with this type of scent. I will have to test it again in candles when I develop my new candle line.
  19. Udate: I spoke with Allen and he and their staff are so great and helpful. They sent me a new bottle of the French Vanilla and a sample of the Passion Vanilla to see if maybe that is what I got. I just received them today and I was so happy to smell what the French Vanilla should smell like when I opened up the bottle. I could tell right off the bat that this bottle is true! They are not sure what happened but it is all taken care of. When I melted another wax melt I had made from the bottle that smelled off, I could smell the Franch Vanilla in it but there was this weird Floral note too it. He thinks it is possible that maybe the hoses and container did not get flushed out between pouring fragrances. I am sure this can happen....humans can error that is for sure.....or maybe it was the manufacturer, but if it was I am sure he would have more calls. Peaks has outstanding customer service and quality products. I have always been a happy customer with them!
  20. I meant to run another test over the weekend to see if maybe I accidentally used a used solo cup or unwashed pot. I did not end up having the time this weekend. Today, I going to melt that tart I have that smells like it has floral in it when I smell it cold and see how it smells warming.
  21. Thank you, Horsescents. Did you use it in 2009 or longer ago?
  22. Thanks, Candybee for your input. I have communicated with Alan. He said he would send me a free sample of it to make sure it is different and then I can return it, if it is different to receive a replacement. However, the cost of shipping may not make it worth it. I would have to pay for the shipping I assume so I might as well just order a new one and pay for it anyway, if the new sample is how it should smell vs. the one bottle I got. I hope that made sense. I was thinking of ordering something from there for the sale going on so not sure if I should just have them send me the sample with the order or I should buy another bottle. If the new bottle smells like it should to me, and if I send the other bottle back for credit for the new bottle, I would still be paying shipping which cancels out the free bottle replacement. I only bought an 8 oz. bottle and shipping is ridiculous. Now that I think of it, I could send it via Regional Mail...my husband has a online business as well and we use regional mail. That would be less than the bottle cost, but not sure if the hassle of sending it back is worth the little that I would save.
  23. Welcome back! I remember you!
  24. Thanks. I am not sure what it is. I should give the Vanilla Passion a try.
  25. Thanks, Connie. I had never tested it until recently. The 2009 sample was really good. This just smells off to me. I did buy CS Very Vanilla and thought I liked it but I noticed it had that common "rotten" (can't describe it) note that many smell as well with that one and Candle Cocoon's vanilla and Millcreeks. Some people smell it and some people do not. I smell it more when it is cold than when it is melting.
