  1. I would just like to know what scents it is composed of so that maybe I could try to duplicate it in a candle. Haven't had much luck though getting a description from anyone.
  2. I was at my neice's wedding the other day and both sexes really liked the Strawberry & Champagne that I had made for them.
  3. Is there anyplace that I can find a discontinued scent? I've looked everywhere and haven't come up with anything? Anyone know what VS Romantic Bouquet smelled like? The girl said rose, lily of the valley, and light floral scents. If I knew what the other scents might be, I'd try to mix it up myself. I've never smelled the original fragrance though. Thanks for any help!
  4. The men I've sold to liked Leather, Mountain Lake, Sandalwood, Mid Summer Night, Cinnamon Stix and, believe it or not, Monkey Farts! (I think they just liked the name)
  5. Thanks, I did post it in the fragrance section as well. I was hoping that some of you might know of the scent or something very close to it as well. It was also known as Wild English Garden.
  6. I am looking for an old Victoria's Secret scent called Romantic Bouquet (Old English Garden). Does anyone know if this is an FO that we can still get ahold of? I make soy candles and I have a customer that just loved the scent. Thanks for any help you can give me.
  7. I had a customer request an old VS scent called Romantic Bouquet. Anyone ever heard of it and can you still find it? I would like to be able to provide it, sounds wonderful, but I'm not sure if it is still available. Thanks, guys and gals for any help here!
  8. I use an LX30 in my 10 oz bulb jars and it works great. I use 100% soy wax (GW464)
  9. I can't believe that no one out there has done this before. Help a girl out! I would like to try it out and be able to make one for my mom for Mother's Day! Please?
  10. I just bought a beautiful glass dish that I would like to make a triple wicked candle in but I haven't ever used more than one wick and don't know what size I should use. I use GW464 wax (Love it!) and the dish is 6" round and 2" deep. I have HTP-83, C-12, LX 16,26,30 wicks around. Which wick size should I use? Thanks for any help, I know you guys will know!
  11. Welcome to the board! I am a newbie but I have used 3 different soy waxes so far and the best by far is GW464. People on this forum were raving about the stuff so I had to try it and boy were they right! This gives you a smooth top, creamy, beautiful candle. And you pour it hot so you don't have to wait around for it to get slushy like some waxes. I got mine through Gateway. They are in Illinois and I am in Kansas. A 50# box was $50.75 delivered. I will not use anything else now. I haven't ever used paraffin but most use 1 oz FO per lb. I don't use alot of liquid dye to get great colors, usually only a few drops will do. Good luck!
  12. OMG! I just got my sample today and am very impressed! I poured two different batches, one with Sage Lemongrass(AtWixEnd) and one with Sun Washed Linen(candlesource) and wow, they look terrific! I usually have to hit them with the heat gun when I was using the C-3 (like every time!) but these are smooth, no frosting, so wet spots, nothing. I use 1 oz FO per lb and only used a couple of drops of liquid dye per lb. Heated to 185, added FO at 160 and poured at 140. I will never use any other wax again! Will send pictures when I can! YooHoo! I'm a happy girl!
  13. Nature's Garden. I have used them, I liked the Apple Jack & Peel and the Monkey Farts. I used 1 oz per pound in my 100% soy wax.
  14. I have used Peak quite a bit and the Sage & Lemongrass is out of this world! My best seller so far! The spiced fruit is great mixed with cinnamon as well. Strawberry and Mountain Lake are also good ones. Mountain Lake smells like mens cologne to me though. The Mango & papaya is also wonderful.
  15. I too have gotten hair line cracks around the perimeter of the candle. The heat gun is a blessing but I wish that I didn't have to use it all the time. My house is a fairly constant 70 degrees and I've tried pouring hot, cool, slushy, and using a box over the candles. Same result. I am using the C-3 as well so maybe it is the wax? I used another (don't remember exactly what it was) and don't remember the cracking so much. Today was warmer so I will have to see if the ones I just made cracked.
  16. I also would like to chime in. This board is the best thing for us newbies as you all have done alot of the work for us. We salute you! Thanks for being helpful and friendly to all of us newbies out there!
  17. Hey everyone! I am trying to find a supplier in Kansas but haven't had any luck. There is a place in Olathe on that website but $77.00 for a 55 lb box sounds a little expensive to me. I've been getting it for $1.00 lb. I'm also using C-3 and they don't carry that. Anyone know of anybody who carries candlemaking supplies and/or jars in Kansas City? I'm only an hour from there and could save the outrageous S&H charges. They're killing me! Thanks!
  18. I have only used the zincs, what would you recommend for 4 oz and 8 oz jars? I am going to use the CD12's in my 10oz bulb jars, but I'm guessing they would work in the 10oz Apothecary jars as well. Don't see why not? I am very new to this and have had pretty good luck so far but there are so many wicks out there to choose from that it gets confusing! Thanks for all the advice!
  19. For Crafty One, I didn't know where you get your supplies, but I found a wonderful woman who is in Springfield MO. She is on E-Bay and goes by Scents of Style. She has fragrances, wicks, dyes, etc. Good prices and maybe the S&H wouldn't kill you!
  20. Thanks for the advice everyone! I will get some bigger wicks. I have seen some people talk about getting wicks at BCN but for the life of me can't figure out who that is? Who is BCN? Otherwise, who is cheapest for wicks? I need 51 z and CD12's. Thanks again!
  21. Thank you for your reply. Yes the FO was different, as well as the coloring. What would be the next wick up from this? I actually stuck in another wick beside it this morning and it is burning fine. I don't want to have to double wick all of them though.
  22. Hello everyone! I have been reading this forum for a few weeks not and have gotten some really good tips. I am using 8 oz wide mouth canning jars and am using 44-28-18z wicks. I get most of my FO's from Peak. I burned one I had made with Sweet Pea from NG and it burned really well. Great melt pool, nothing left but the wick pin. But the one I burned recently (have burned several times now) doesn't want to burn well. Not hot enough I'm guessing? Small flame. Melt pool isn't fully out to sides even after 4-5 hours burning time. Any suggestions on why this would be different now? I'm guessing that I need to get another wick but which ones, there are so many that it gets confusing. I am using Candlewic Soy 120 wax right now and use 1oz FO per lb of wax. I will be switching to C-3 very shortly though. Thanks for any info you can give me. Christy
  23. I am a newbie. A friend of mine is picking me up some jars from The Jar Store and also some of their Cargill wax. I can't wait to try it out! But I borrowed her votive molds while she is gone and she has let them get rusty. I just received mine today and I don't want the same thing to happen. Is there something I need to do to help them not get rusty besides making sure they are completely dry after washing? Also, I am getting the 10 oz apothecary jars and am wondering if the wicks I have are going to work. They are the 6" 44-24-18 I think. I use them in the 8 oz canning jars and they work fine. Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it.
