  1. The candle should be fine. A few of my oils have had crystals in them & it didn't affect the HT or burn. Usually the FO's are vanilla based. I try to remember to shake good before using but if there are alot crystals I will place the bottle of FO in a bowl of hot water to dissolve most of them. Often when pouring, the crystals that didn't dissolve in the hot water bath or the wax will sink to the bottom of the pour pot and I try not to pour into the candle jar if I notice.

I know the Holiday Scentsations fragrance oil from Southern Scentsations (greatcandle.com) is the same as Berts Aspen Forest and I have had crystals in a few bottles. I have also had about an inch of crystals in the bottom of my Hazelnut when I recieved it and it did fine in wax. My guess is, it is most likely sediment from the bottom of a drum but I could be wrong. I have contacted a couple suppliers about it and they have all told me the FO would be fine and gave the the hot water bath suggestion.

  2. Thanks Brenda. One question: the only FD&C colors I've found are basic primary colors like red, blue and yellow. Do you know where I can find the pastel colors you mention?

Sorry for the delay, I didn't request instant notification on this post . . .sorry :(

If I am making a large batch I can get away with a full drop of color, but for smaller batches I do what Xraytech70 does. Use either a toothpick or the tip of a skewer to achieve pastel colors. I can get a pastel pink with red, a very light powder like blue with the blue, etc. I will blend the primary colors to get other colors if I need them.

  3. Unfortunately, I can't help with the NG scents comparisons. I haven't ordered any of those. :(

I have a couple Q-tip blends started to try to match the OOB scent before blending in wax. So far I have got 3 parts Becky's Ultimate Vanilla (JS) to 1 part Hazelnut Cappuccino (Bert's) It's pretty close but think I am going to add another part vanilla since the HC is still a bit on the bitter side. I know this doesn't help much with your timing.

8-gran-ones suggested the BC Carmel Walnut, it may be worth a try. But - BCN current lead time delivery to Ohio is about 5 days. I am waiting on an order to arrive today.

    (Sending you a PM . .)

  4. Does anyone have a fragrance twin for Bert's / Heaven Scent's Vanilla Latte? I have a group who choose this scent as one in their fundraiser. It is not listed on Heaven Scents website and I need to a supplier who carries something similar OR begin blending. Any suggestions?

PS - I have emailed Bert but not heard back from her yet :(

  5. We've been using this fo for yrs, now it doesn't want to burn no matter how much you wick-up. Anyone else having problems with it? Can you suggest a replacement? TIA, Carole

Glad to see this post since I need to re-order from BC. Last year I bought NG's Cinnamon Red Hot and had the same wicking problems so I went back to BCN's and it wicked fine. I used up NG's in tarts. Hopefully, you get it dialed in. Did you contact BC to see if they noticed a difference?

  6. I will add . .

Before blending my own paraffin & soy I bought a pre-blended parasoy. I had ordered 12 cases of wax, all the same lot number on the boxes, and I had inconsistencies in burn quality thru out all of those cases  No 2 cases burned the same! I had a HUGE mess ! I was pissed, sick to my stomach, and at my wits end all during a fundraiser. The supplier was not cooperative.

I learned the hard way and since only blend my own wax. I will usually pour up testers especially when opening new boxes even with the same lot numbers.

  7. 1. Parasoy

    2. 8 oz Straight Side Jar

    3. I sell more tarts but only slightly

    4. NW Ohio

    5. I'm never 100% happy with my line. I am weak when it comes to scents and have way TOO many. I need to scale back but it hasn't happened yet. I'd like to add a classier jar style but don't have time for testing. Maybe in 2011.

  8. I price my products so I have the option to run sales. Whether it is on shipping or product. My regular retail prices are competitive but running a special / discounted product / free shipping etc. will boost my sales. I like a good bargain myself so I frequently offer some kind of savings to my customers. Once it's all said and done, both my business & customers are happy. I'd rather have money coming in than product sitting ;)

Which reminds me I need to figure out what special to offer next. Usually I do free shipping over $50.00 or $75.00.

  9. Does anyone use a Masterbuilt Turkey Fryer that has dial type temperature controls ? I have an opportunity to get one at a great price but have always used the digital control Turk 'n Surf / Cajun Injector models.

Can anyone help with pros & cons? I know this model has never been used and the dial temperature controls are in 25* increments. Any and all help is appreciated !

  10. My Saturday craft show was the best I have ever done :yay: I was scrambling all week pouring to restock since on a whim I did a Chili Fest the Saturday before and sold lots more than I expected. So far my shows have been alot busier than my website which is odd. Usually my site keeps me very busy.

  11. I thought I read on the board here that using dry ice in coolers helped to keep the area under an EZ-UP cool but I have searched all day and can't find the re-assurance from previous posts.

I have a craft show this weekend and it is forecasted to be in the 90*s. I got tarps to keep direct sunlight off my candles, tarts and such but will dry ice in coolers help even more? Does anyone know ?
