  1. I made some clear glycerine layered soaps today with the intention of cutting them into cubes and covering them with white base. When I cut the cubes, all the layers seperated. they still looked cool, but it was not the actual look I was going for. Do I need to let these layered M&P sit quite a while before cutting?

  2. I wasn't sure where to post this but I have a big bag of calendula petals, but have no idea what to use them for. I do M&P and am not sure what scent to color to combine them with. Any ideas? i have looked thru recipes but didn't really find anything.

  3. Ok, I just made my first real batch of M&P. It was extremely easy for the first time, but my question is when I added my lavender botanicals those just floated on top and the oatmeal sunk. I wanted to let the soap thicken a bit, so it would suspend but then it started to set. Was it because the oatmeal and lavender was too large of pieces and it needed to be ground much better? Do I need to use a suspended formula base soap only with botanicals? I used opaque white glycerine, then added lavender powdered mica which I could not get to dissolve completly either. I need to go out and get a stick blender yet.

  4. From reading different areas of this website, It looks like a CP soap makes a prettier soap or longer lasting one. Working with the lye scares me a bit and it looks hard to get. Is rebatching basically using CP soap that is grated? Would this be a good option for me?

  5. Hi all,

I am new to this board and have seen tons of neat stuff you guys create. I originally came on here looking for a line of candles to retail in my salon and now I have been inspired to try and make soap. It sounds like a lot of fun. So can you point me in the right direction of how to get started? Should I buy a book or something. This is all very foreign to me at this point.

    Many thanks!!
