I know I plant it in a pot and my cat eats it. Its good for their digestive system. Great help I know;)

Those look great! My question is how do you get your layers to stick together? I tried that last weekend but they seperated.
Your swirls look fantastic. Mine are tardy!
A newbie swap would be a great idea.

I was looking at the chemistry store to order lye. Is there somewhere else that has better prices on oils and with a bigger selection?

I wasn't sure where to post this but I have a big bag of calendula petals, but have no idea what to use them for. I do M&P and am not sure what scent to color to combine them with. Any ideas? i have looked thru recipes but didn't really find anything.

Ok, I just made my first real batch of M&P. It was extremely easy for the first time, but my question is when I added my lavender botanicals those just floated on top and the oatmeal sunk. I wanted to let the soap thicken a bit, so it would suspend but then it started to set. Was it because the oatmeal and lavender was too large of pieces and it needed to be ground much better? Do I need to use a suspended formula base soap only with botanicals? I used opaque white glycerine, then added lavender powdered mica which I could not get to dissolve completly either. I need to go out and get a stick blender yet.

Can MP or rebatching be shrink wrapped for retail? Or is it better left unwrapped?

Anyone ever buy good quality FO or EO off of ebay? If so, which stores have the best.

From reading different areas of this website, It looks like a CP soap makes a prettier soap or longer lasting one. Working with the lye scares me a bit and it looks hard to get. Is rebatching basically using CP soap that is grated? Would this be a good option for me?

I am just getting started with this soap making and body scrubs. What are some good combos for EO of FO for aromatherapy scents? I am looking for spa like scents if that makes sense(scents) ha ha, bet you've never heard that before:laugh2:

Well, being I have never done this before I guess I need to know which is the best or easiest method to start with. It sounds like the melt& pour method might be less complex. Am I right?

Hi all,
I am new to this board and have seen tons of neat stuff you guys create. I originally came on here looking for a line of candles to retail in my salon and now I have been inspired to try and make soap. It sounds like a lot of fun. So can you point me in the right direction of how to get started? Should I buy a book or something. This is all very foreign to me at this point.
Many thanks!!

M&P layers seperating
in General Soap Making
Posted
I made some clear glycerine layered soaps today with the intention of cutting them into cubes and covering them with white base. When I cut the cubes, all the layers seperated. they still looked cool, but it was not the actual look I was going for. Do I need to let these layered M&P sit quite a while before cutting?
