  1. I have tried to swirl in MP, but it only swirled on top. Some here have had success with it. The only thing I would do different is pour the 2nd color up high so when it hits the 1st color it will go thru the MP, not just the top, then swirl with a toothpick. Thats basically what I do with my CP too.

This is about one of the only scents I had left to do a batch. Its hard to see, but its light green with a bit darker green swirled in. this is my 4th batch of CP and this was by far the easiest as the CM did not quicken the trace at all. It smells awesome. Now I want to find "Mango Mandarin" type from BBW.

I really need to get a mitre (sp?) box for cutting. As you can see, they are very crooked, but oh well, I am not selling them yet.

  3. As I was laying out today, it dawned on me, "why could'nt I make my own tanning oil?" I can never find anything that smells really coconutty anymore. Anyone have any great recipes for any tanning oil?

  4. One of my batches is:

    16oz OO

    8oz PKO

    8oz SBO

    8oz CO

    5.7 Lye

    15oz distilled water

    The other is

    12oz OO

    12oz CO

    19oz Crisco

    6oz Lye

    16oz water

Both of these recipes are atleast 4 weeks curing so I gave em a try at the sink and my skin got dry. I did not like that feeling. Maybe I will give that cream soap recipe a try. Could it possibly be these soaps are not cured long enough? Didnt know if that would have anything to do with it. I am trying to learn some of the properties of the different oils, but all this info is so overwhelming.

    Thanks for the advice:)

  5. I went ahead an just grated the white/blue soap and added milk and purple oxide and then added lavender buds on top(how original huh?) I kept adding milk until i could get a workable consistency. i hope it will set up ok.

All the other leftovers is going to make a nasty color, so I thought about adding brown oxide and coffee grounds for a kitchen or gardener soap. Who knows how it will turn out.

  6. Roebic is fine. Thats what I use from Lowes for my CP soaps. Making lye water isnt as scary as it seems, just be smart about it, and mix it outdoors, the fumes will gag you.

I agree, you got duked from ebay. You should'nt have had to pay for recipes. There are a gazillion on the web and even tons right here on the B&B recipe board.

I just started CP soaps a month ago and its awesome and addicting. You will find a wealth of info right here.

  7. I have all these scraps from my first 3batches of CP. But they are colored and scented. Anyone have any ideas what I can make out of them. One batch is white and blue(ocean scent), yellow(citrus scent),and white, berry(lavender scent). Will the scent all cook out and I can start with anew scent?

  8. I used the Select Shades. The only morphing that I have experienced was with the Hyacinth Chula Orchid when I tried to get purple and instead I got that aqua color.

They are nice, very concentrated, easy to blend.

Ok, my question is what are Select Shades? This is all still soooo new to me and I want to learn, learn, learn and try new stuff. I use my oxides and micas and they never turn the color I want.
