  1. When I said I used their contact form, I meant their email for service listed on the website. Can't get seller info on eBay unless you're in a transaction with that seller at the moment, that's why I used eBay's ask seller a question option. The dispute I opened on paypal - they send the seller the info directly and that hasn't worked. This seller also makes molds and once before I wanted to ask them a question about their custom mold option, called the phone number on their website twice and left messages. They didn't call back then, doubt they will now. I'll try again tomorrow and post what happens. I just can't understand why a 100% positive feedback supplier would act this way.
  2. I was always told that glass/ceramic mass produced items, just like cookware and dinnerware, have a film on them and should be washed before use to avoid mixing with items put in them. I also make alot of gel candles and no matter how clean the glass looks, when testing not washing, I've noticed a cloudiness in clear gel, so I've always washed for every type of candle.
  3. On 1/23/12, I ordered 2 ozs. of liquid dye from a small candle company that has a webstore and an eBay store. This is a liquid dye that I've never been able to get anywhere else and everyone loves the color. When I ordered from them before, I ordered from their eBay store, but when I checked this time, they didn't have it listed, so I checked their webstore. It was there, so I ordered it, even though I was charged $8 for shipping 2 ozs. Anyway, I received my order confirmation from their store, as well as my paypal payment confirmation. I waited 7 days, but no dye. I started using their contact form. No response. I've tried to contact them thru eBay. No response. I opened a dispute with paypal. No response. They currently are selling on ebay and have feedback posted as recently as yesterday, and they have 100% positive feedback. I just don't understand why they are not responding to my asking about the item. I mean, even if it's not available anymore, why don't they write and say so. I have until 2/20 to get my money back, but I'd much rather have the dye. I just don't understand this... Any suggestions? They are in Missouri.
  4. Do you mean intimidate, or immediately? You haven't shipped anything, have you? Why did you wait so long if this started alittle over 3 months ago? Jut trying to understand first.:tiptoe:
  5. The candles are amazing. Do you make the tatted doilies too?
  6. It looks like gel to me, because of all the bubbles. I have done alot of testing over the years with all three densities of gel. When you pour too hot gel over pinecones, candy, etc., you will hear sizzling, get tons of very small bubbles, and the gel will get cloudy. It looks like that's what happened here. Years ago on another forum there was much discussion about if it was safe to put candy in gel. Some insisted it was, others said no. In the testing I did, if you made a gel candle with candy, and burned it like the next day, you were safe. But if you tried to relight it a couple of weeks later - YIPES! All the sugar leeched into the gel, and the whole surface of the candle would ignite. I wish I had saved the pics, but I never attempted to make candles like this except to test. The only safe way to do it is to double glass. That candle is disgusting. I can't believe they're really selling those....:tiptoe:
  7. Just saw breaking news that the decision has been reversed. Hope they are right. I think your dilemma went away.:tiptoe:
  8. I don't know where you can get one, but you may want to post this in general candle making instead of gel candle making for more responses. Good Luck!:tiptoe:
  9. Just one of the many reasons I don't offer PayPal on my website any longer....:tiptoe:
  10. I think this is the same rose. I make them in paraffin and also make them as gel floaters. In paraffin, I make them flat on the bottom, and also pegged(to be used in taper holders). In paraffin, they measure approx. 4 1/2" D x 5" high. As a gel floater, they are 6" D x 5" high.
  11. No one knows the answer to this question....gee.:tiptoe:
  12. I do not sell on etsy, but was wondering....eBay lets sellers block bidders/buyers from their auctions. Does Etsy allow the same? Thanks for any info.:tiptoe:
  13. Wow....this company sure has them in alot of retail locations...at $27.00 a pop. Hope they have some hefty insurance.:tiptoe:
  14. My website is a custom, made to order website. Whether you order a $5.00 item or place a $150.00 order, it's all custom colored and scented to your choice, after your order is placed and your payment clears. It's all clearly explained, and after 10 years at the current web address, most people understand that...at least the ones who read. It is a niche that has worked well for me, and kept the business growing. :tiptoe:
  15. My website has the leadtime appear at the top of EVERY page, and yet customers constantly miss it and expect the products to ship the day they place the order! No pleasing some people, even when you bend over backward to do it....:tiptoe:
  16. As usual, my brain is going faster than my hands and I didn't explain this fully. There is no wicking. These are huge hurricane type candles, that once removed from the mold, I have work to do on the top to make it look like older candles used to look. Best I can describe that is the "drippy look". That I know how to do although it will take alot of hand work, but the actual exterior finish is what I am concerned about. She wants an "old", rustic looking finish. And as far as the right wax to use, etc., I've explained the whole product to technical personnel at several suppliers, and they've walked me through the whole thing almost identically verbatim, so I know where I'm going there too. Silicone molds are out of the question due to cost for something this size. If the cardboard does the trick for a rustic exterior than it's the best/least costly way to go. I presume they have to be cut off when the candle hardens:confused:. I just don't want to be in a position where I'm going to have to remelt them if the finish isn't right. It's going to take long enough for them to cool without having to do it more than once.:tiptoe: I hope that explains it better.
  17. Has anyone made a candle in cardboard tubing or ducting material that could post a picture of what it ended up looking like? Any size candle would be fine. I'd just like to see the finish. The customer has decided on 2 of these, and at nearly 50 lbs. total in wax, I'd like to see what the exterior finish would approxiamate before spending all the time and money, if at all possible. Thanks for any help.:tiptoe:
  18. And, on an order that size, make sure you have them SIGN for it - the person that did the ordering. Otherwise, if problems arise, you won't get a thing. Personally, if I was only partially covered with seller protection, and buyers have full protection, on an order that size, I'd think twice about filling it. Everyone has heard stories about Paypal purchases on eBay gone wrong....:tiptoe:
  19. My computer has wireless and dialup, believe it or not, for when we are travelling and in areas of the country that still don't have wireless connections. Wireless is Cox and dialup in AT&T.
  20. So I get up this morning, and still groggy(when will I learn not to do anything before having some coffee:laugh2:!), turn on the computer and get on the internet. My normal homepage comes up, and I click on the mail option to sign in. When the sign in page comes up, it looked kinda funny, but I enter my info anyway. Then this page pops up that says my password has expired. Huh??? I've had this email and password for years and the password doesn't expire...you just reset it when you want. So a page comes up asking me to input my email, old password, new password...you know the drill. I don't do it. I click on home and try the whole thing again, only this time I'm wide awake. When the sign in page comes up, I notice the box that you enter your email addy in is outlined in red. Huh? again. It's never outlined in red. And the usual pictures and layout of that page are slightly different. Then I look at the address bar at the top of screen. Although it says "https" the rest of the address is not the same as usual. In fact, it is some garbly goop! I immediately closed my browser, checked for security updates, and ran a scan. Sure enough, someone had tried to reset registry keys on my computer! Then good ole Microsoft sent me 7 critical security/malicious software removal tool updates. I've never had anything like that ever happen. I guess I'm mentioning it here because you(in general)can't just look for the "https" anymore and think you'll be safe. You need to look at the whole address. I'm so glad I didn't fall for this.:tiptoe: Now...off for that coffee!:smiley2:
  21. That would be perfect. The customer wants an "old", Tuscan look. Thanks!
  22. ...on what you could use for a mold to make a 9" diameter by 12" tall pillar:confused: Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.:tiptoe:
  23. Try to have alittle patience. There's something wrong with the board and this thread didn't even show up on my computer until just now.... That said, Valentine's is okay for me, but for some reason, St. Patrick's Day is much better...and this is the 16th year I've been selling... Go figure!:smiley2:
  24. Really...it makes no difference if she doesn't like candles or not... What does matter is that she panned them on YOUR facebook page, where you promote your candles. This is not a friend...or at best...a stupid, insensitive friend. I would definitely talk to her, and tell her she's free to have any opinion she wants, but general "candle hate" opinions are not welcomed on YOUR promotion page, which YOU maintain.:tiptoe:
