  1. That is horrible, but remember this just because this person gets her supplies at the same place, gets your ideas from your posts NEVER means that her candles are the same as yours.

You have many many people on here that use the same products and get totally different results.

Next time this person (and if that person is reading this SHAME ON YOU!!!!) states to check out her candles cause she gets her supplies from the same company tell her are you sure about that?? WTF is she doing digging thru your trash to find your receipts?? I would hope that a supply company would not divulge customers information to someone else.

  2. I also use 415, now I have to admit that I had trouble with it at first through trial and error I have learned how to overcome some of the issues and I don't add beeswax to my candles. I have some that are several months old that I did not cover on purpose so I can test the quality and to see if it gets somewhat dried out and haven't found that to be the case.

  3. I agree half bars sound good. I gotta get on my 2nd batch didn't get it done yesterday so its work work work today, I think I will make soap first then mess with my new candle jars.

ETA: 2nd soap is in the mold and my camera won't work...I need new batteries.

  4. What is the total count we have right now?? I would say that if it gets to big we can always cut the bars in half that way everyone gets to try some. But whatever way we decide to do this, Im sure there will be plenty of soap to go around lol

  5. I read another thread where someone purchased a scale on Ebay and decided to go with that one. I purchased it only minutes ago and now that I know of a brand of lye to purchase..I am off to Lowes to find it and will be joining your Newbie soap challenge because I can't resist a challenge! I've wanted to make soap for a few years now but didn't have time(still don't) but that challenge word got me going and now I just gotta at least try!

    Thanks for the lye link.:cheesy2:

That is awesome Welcome to the challenge!!!!

  6. IMO I don't think that it really makes a difference with the customers as long as it smells good, some may go for the hype about soy being cleaner burning, and supporting the american farmer, but in a whole I think if it smells good to them they are going to buy it either way. My suggestion is to sell both and see which sell better in your area, then go from there. I don't find it costing me anymore to make soy candles, except that you may have to double wick, but the cost of that extra wick is so little that it just doesn't seem to matter to me. I also don't find that I use anymore FO or color, though I am not really looking for the dark bold colors in my candles as of yet so that may change.

  7. Okay gonna try for soap #2 today....that is if I can get it done before we go to pick up candle jars. This one is going to be chocolate brownie and I am going to try to color it with cocoa powder. We'll see, keeping fingers crossed, as soon as my MIL is out of the kitchen I am in....lol

  8. I haven't had a chance to do another pour yet, heck I still have to cut the first one. I have been soooo busy with the kids, and have felt like crap for two days now. I am going to cut this soap today even if I have to string the kids up by their toes to leave me alone....lol

ETA: Okay I posted cut pics in the gallery in my original pic post

  9. 1. CozyAromas- Cuccumber Melon or Country Apple

    2. Scented - Amber Romance or Coconut Lime Verbena or ... (I'm not sure cuz there are too many FOs to pick from lol!)

    3. Magsglass-Honey Coco Mango or Jade-type, or ???

    4. Heather- White Spring Lilac, ???, Chocolate Brownie(I promised my daughter)

  10. I do know about buffalo chips, I just don't think I could sell them that way. Straw does sound like a good idea, though sawdust is free for me. I am not heading down the pinecone trail, I have heard many many times that is a no no. I just want to use up scrap wax, so I figured wax, sawdust, and a cupcake liner would work, just didn't want to make them to dry.

  11. :yay: :highfive: :cool2::drool:

Heather, it's bee-yoo-tee-full!!! You did great, girl!

Gosh I love that indigo color...it's just stunning. Did you use titanium dioxide to get that bright white?

No that is just the color it came out.

I used lard, olive oil, coconut oil added White Spring Lilac to the whole batch then took some of it out and added the purple liquid dye. Then I poured the uncolored in the mold first then poured the purple in and used a spatula to swirl it in there making sure that my spatula reached the bottom of the mold.

LOL already trying to figure out what I want to make next!!!
