1. thanks it's a miracle what you can do with carbon paper & tracing. i'm not good at free hand. yes kids always screaming (the little devils) but i just learned to toon them out. but thanks everyone very proud of the little bear. i LOVE that one
2. i also work with soy. a little high is ok but don't go too much over what is suggested. i usually add my scent between 120 & 130. but again try to keep to the instructions but don't be a perfectionist. i've never had a problem with mine. also make sure you mix color well & evenly. also putting them in the freezer you may not want to do. the coldness like that always made mine more frosty. i usually just put them in the refrig. it cools them a little slower. jmo. but then soy can be very finicky (hope i spelled it right). just have fun! hope this helped. as far as heating in the micro. i do it but i only do it at 30sec intervals. i don't like it getting too hot. keep an eye on it. i melt them till there is just little bit left to melt then stir till completely melted. i've never had a problem with scent fading.
3. when i first started doing hurricanes i put mod podge on the pics (i still do it but i put a border on them but they look better that way). i just can't seem to get the pics embedded to my liking. but i use to paint ceramics so i started thinking hmmmmmmm:grin2: . and have looked at some one stroke paintings this is what i came up with. the reddish looking balloon candle was my 1st one then the other 3 i did last night in between kids screaming & bumping the table. (need my own work room) but here they are.
4. they are fake flowers from walmart $.88 a bunch when i dipped them in the wax it brought them to life. took some for the pastor's wife today she loved them. taking the rest for my mother for easter. thank you for the comments. i always see them dipped in flower scents but didn't know if anyone did them in other scents. flower scents tend to give me headaches. don't know why but when i do candles or anything in flower or baby powder scents if i'm around it too long i get a headache. i think it's just too much at once.
5. hello everyone this is one of my latest adventures but it was so easy i left my daughter lilly who is 4 1/2 help me, she did all the pink ones. They are dipped in soy wax, pink are lilly of the valley & blue are birds of paradise. both have any awesome sent throw i can smell them now. she wants to take some to her grandparents for easter cause we are going back to pa for the holidays. my dad won't let my mom burn candles so i think they will love these. i do have a question though. would it be weird to scent flowers in bakery scents? well here's the pic. 6. my word everytime i come here someone has food candles, you guys make it hard to loose weight . but all seriousness how do you do the gel?
7. i use them they are wonderful, i do the 1.5, 3.7, 6 & 9 oz's. i get them all from lonestar candle supply cause they are cheap & fast in delivery. i use an eco 6 in the 1.5 & 3.7 then i use an eco 10 in the 6 & 9's. they seem to hold up with all the scents i use. i also use cargil c-3 container soy wax. but you do need to have jar's at room temp when you pour with this wax i just take a blow dryer to them because i keep my house cool. don't know if this will help.
8. i am also new to m&p soap. just wondering why adding differnt things to soap is it to give it appearance or does it achieve a different purpose? such as smoother skin & can anyone recommend different links that gives this info. such as shea butter adds smoother skin for an example. so if this sounds weird not feeling good.
9. i started with them & yes they are suppose to be experts but what they don't tell you is they are more than helpful if you want to recruit people but if you just want to make candles they will leave you in the dust. I don't even hear from my sponsor anymore cause i told here i want to make candles. besides that, their products are VERY expensive & they never had the good fo in stock. i was able to venture out on my own to find just as good of products for alot less example 50lbs of wax $75.00 & no matter what you get you must test. they didn't tell me that either till i found all my 12oz jelly jars were lousy. so i burn they myself. if you want to make candles by samples of wax also natures garden has some excellent candle kits alot cheaper. hope this helps
10. thanks hewells will put it on my longggggggggggggggg list of things to get:D
11. i do accept any appologies & i tried the search again but i can't get into the one link for them so i emailed (Queen) Donita to see if i can get it. CandleMan i understand been having too many of those days lately . I do like it in here people are very helpful <My Hats Off Too You ALL!!!!!>
12. i did try the search but maybe i was overlooking it i just couldn't find the answers. i was a little upset at the response but i just brush it off but it does make me a little weary to post .
13. so what i'm getting out of what i read is that you actually use a balloon. What kind would you use, wouldn't it break as soon as it hits the hot wax or is there something special you fill it with to stop that, which brings up my next question what do you fill it with? sorry so many questions but these look awesome & might want to try. let me make sure i'm thinking bout right thing. the balloon candles are the round shaped candles that i've seen people turn into electric candles, is this correct?
14. giedre11 that would be great, heaven knows i don't need any leaks. but far as leaving the wax in the pot i don't mind cleaning the soy out cause that is really easy to clean up but i'm sorry i was pulling my hair out this weekend trying to clean things out with paraffin(me bald what a sight) i definately need to get some mold cleaner. but thanks everyone for the input i can't wait to make them i think it would simplify everything.
15. question on presto pots. i'm thinking bout making them w/the spouts that is show on the basic instructions here. but i want one for soy & one for paraffin. how do you keep the spout from clogging when wax is off & you turn it back on. wouldn't the wax be hardened & then since the spout is extended from the pot how does the spout get hot to keep from clogging. or does everyone just dip out of the pot?
16. i have a question. i've been testing a 6oz wickless turret jar. it smells great cold, it smells great when i light a wick in it (i made 2 candles w/wicks & 1 w/o wick from same batch) but the one you put on warmer you can't smell it unless you get your nose over it. what could be the problem any suggestions?
17. they are both scented & waxed. they are cinnamon egg nog i had some left & wanted to use it up but it smells mainly cinnamon. i currently have ss soy it is from southern sensations. not impressed w/it i usually use cargil c-3. i like it, it's a little more than some of the others but it's nice & i like lonestar candle supply they are the good on shipping & they are fast. I always have my order within 2 days at the latest 3.
18. ok i had to try them little critters, the smelly bears. BOY was it fun just tried it w/short haired critters but i think they worked well. take a look
19. i did 8 remelts last night to get the pic straight & where there wasn't that much wax that you could see the pic good but no luck so i ended up putting the pic on after the shell was done. here is one but it's a little blury.
20. sorry can't take pic w/lights i remelted it. Like they say "you are your worst critic".
21. thanks yeah camera wouldn't co-op. or hands too shaky can't tell these days the pic is also dark but looks better lite up
22. ok just couldn't get pic straight so tell me how this looks, sorry couldn't get it clearer
23. thanks so much i found a fabulous website & it looks like the cut & curl candles will have to wait. (not that good yet!).
24. yes thank you so much i never thought to leave a white margin. do you both only make yours white or do u try to color them. i tried & i think i have it but you have to add VERY LITTLE color.
