  1. Quentin!

    So sorry about your father.

Both my parents were in hospice care and you are correct, it’s beyond overwhelming even with help. Between 3 siblings we hired a caretaker who would spend the night a few times a week but it’s the emotional strain that was hardest on me. Burnout big time so get out a bit and don’t forget to take some time for yourself. 🌸

  2. Everything you have explained is part of the candle making process. There is no other way and no short cut so you are on track as far as that goes. And yes, hundreds of dollars later but it’s worth it if you love making them.

Problend 600 works well without mixing. As far as wicks go the KEY is finding the right combo of wax, wicks, FO, and container that work all together. You’ll get there!

Candle making videos are just basic information. He over wicks many of his candles. But it’s good you tried his method and you see for yourself that something is not working. 🌸

  3. This is why I love eco wicks, I just break off the top of the wick using my fingers, perfect height every time.

This doesn’t work with premier wicks so I use a large size nail clippers which works great in a taller jar and works like magic on wooden wicks.

*im not referring to the scissor type nail clipper, the standard, only larger.🌸

  4. Hi!

Lab co. Coconut wax is great! I would stick with that. The percentage of paraffin is quite small according to the company. I feel it actually boosts the hot throw. Some of the best candles and the expensive ones are made with paraffin.

You could try blending a soy wax with the Lab co wax and produce a nice candle.

You'll probably get other ideas here from other folks who use the wax you mentioned.

    Good luck!🌸

  5. Great questions and you’ll get some answers once you start to test.

Forests answers are based on his wax and his candle making journey/experiences.

The very best way is to start very simple, one wax, one type of wick, one type of container. Take notes. Lots of notes!

This is why it takes so long to figure things out.

I don’t think there are any short cuts. I found that out!

    Candle making is not linear.

By reading posts here is the very best way to begin, you’ll have support too!🌸
