  1. Second try. I think the second one turned out better.
  2. I guess it would help if I posted the photos too! LOL
  3. Another first attempt.....I think I need something different for the nose. Any suggestions??? It does have wiskers and a mouth cut in thin lines, they just didn't show up to well in the photo.
  4. Thank you everyone for all the wonderful comments. I have a show next month so I’m trying to get some different styles and colors then what I have now so I’ll post more pics.
  5. They were both lovely, but I liked the one with the line too. Beautiful color!
  6. I've seen this design before and loved it but have been afraid to try it out. It is as hard as I thought it would be, but I think it turned out ok...still need more practice on this one though.
  7. Trying out a new color and design on my pyramids
  8. I agree, I'm a newbie too. I jumped right in (like I do in everything) to the cut-n-carved candles. It is expensive to start out, and it takes alot of practice and patience! I'm now trying to work my way back to making pillers and container candles. Having never made a candle before last year, I, like alot of people (who have never made a candle) thought it's simple "just melt wax, pour in mold or container, throw in a wick, and you have a candle. NOT!!! That's why I started with the cut-n-carve, I loved the way they look, thought that's different! It's not just wax and a wick! Keep reading and researching....you will find alot of useful information here.
  9. I had the same problem with my gold, it looked good melted in the vat but not in the candle it was bronze/brown looking color when finished. I have a customer that wants a black and gold carved candle and so far the black and yellow is as close as I've been able to get to what she wants. Good luck.......let me know if you find out how to make the gold work.
  10. Right now the only candles I make are carved candles, so I was thinking something along those lines, but after joining this site and reading hundreds of post and looking a pictures I think I want to do some containers and pillers also. I have had people wanting scented candles or just don't want to spend the money on a candle they won't burn "there to pretty to burn" I hear that alot. I'm missing out on sales just doing the carved! Plus, the carved are alot harder to package & transport to shows so I could take more candles to sell if I start making other candles. I have a show next month OMG I need to get busy, I have to order a different wax, colors & scents. Any ideas for a newbie who's only made carved candles. This will be my third show, the last one was a total flop. It was outside rainy & cold. Sorry, I know I'm going on & on, I just have so much going thru my head right now. I think I need to take a break.....go make a candle or something
  11. I've just started doing shows. I have order forms with me when I do a show but people are asking for business cards. I've been trying to come up with a business name since Christmas. I'm having a very hard time coming up with something catchy thats not already out there. Any Ideas????? I'm tired of pulling my hair out!
  12. Thanks guys I think I have a ways to go to catch up with Bruce though.
  13. I made this one this weekend It's a little hard to read in the photo.....It says: D e s t i n y brought you into my life, I have never felt a love so right You are the half that makes me whole, you are the one who fills my soul.
  14. Thank you Bruce You won't find the first one or the christmas tree in the book. Those two were mine. The other two are from the book though. Any tips on the upwards cuts? I've tried the angel once, but I just can't get those to look right. Do those just take more practice or am I missing something. It's kinda hard trying to learn this from a book.
  15. The book is called: Cut & Carve Candles by Dana Brooks
  16. Thank you Maybe one day I'll be as good as Bruce. Any tips Bruce?
