  1. WOW! What a mess I made....I used a screw & mold seal. I think I need to get some tape. It's scented sweet dreams. It should have been about 3" taller, but it leaked out everywhere!
  2. Thank You The book I have is "Cut & Carve Candles" by Dana Marie Brooks
  3. Thank you Jane I started about ? middle of last year. Did my first two craft shows last December. Trying to get ready for another show the 25th of this month.
  4. I'm learning from a book....if you find a website let me know. I don't know about using soy...I only use paraffin.
  5. Budget?...What's that! LOL I started with last year income tax refund & Luck! I ordered more molds & supplies this year with income tax refund. This one is just under 10"
  6. It doesn't look like it in the photo (at least not on my computer) but the bottom is green.
  7. Double Basket Angles Double Bow Pink Pyramid I think I'm running out of ideas and trying to do to many new things....they're not turning out how I see them in my head. LOL
  8. Thank you Lin (and everyone) The wax is igi 4611 from bitter creek, the white is Titanium dioxide from Pourette. The shinney look is from the candle glaze (I don't remember where it came from).
  9. Very pretty! I just bought some palm wax, can't wait to try it! What size wick did you use?
  10. I think thats why I didn't like it "too much white". Do you pick up the speed with experience? I don't know how you can make three in an hour....I took so long with this one I couldn't add any more cuts the wax was hardening up on me. I think I'll try it again today. I know I was slower last night. I had been up since 4:30am and had a very long day. I'm a member of a car club "The Untamed Mustangs". We did a fund raiser/car show yesterday for a local man who has no insurance and is in need of a liver transplant. That was a lot of work but well worth it. I just couldn't go to bed without making at least one candle! LOL I should have!
  11. I bought a book called "Cut & Carve Candles" by Dana Marie Brooks and went from there....started off making them on the stove "double boiler system" which can be done but you can only do smaller candles. DH wasn't very happy I took over his kitchen! I got lucky and found a 6 vat dipping system on ebay. I'ts much easier than working on the stove and DH was happy to have his kitchen back! LOL I think the main thing is a lot of practice and patience!
  12. I'm not really liking this one....It's been a longgggg day, think I need to go to bed and try again tomorrow!
  13. Very Beautiful! Love the Blue Angel.
  14. Yes, I do make my own cores. I have more molds on order, they should be here today. One is 15" tall! I can't wait!
  15. OMG WOW! Beautiful Are they real....dipped in wax?
  16. Love the colors....very beautiful.
  17. Thanks for all the wonderfull comments....I'm glad everyone liked them. I was only going to take a few with me to the show on March 25th, but now I'm thinking I might want to take more!
  18. Thanks Maryann....I don't know about lessons LOL! I would love to take some from Bruce. I'm still learning myself! I just started making candles last year (? I think around June). I want to start making other candles (pillers, containers & hurricanes) I don't know how you guys make all those...to many different waxes & wicks!!!!! I don't even know where to begin! How far south is Bradenton? I'm in N FL - Tallahassee.
  19. Thank you I'm selling them for $20 each or two for $35 plus shipping. PM me if you want to order one. I have four orders so far and I haven't really started selling them yet! Just posted the pics here and took one to work with me. I was only going to take a few to the show (March 25th) but now I'm thinking I might want to take more.
  20. Thank you Maryann (and everyone) The nose is a button I stuck in the wax. I used a bead on the second one. I think it looks better. I think the heart looks more like a dogs nose maybe? LOL
