I’m looking for an old fashioned church incense smell and someone suggested a cedar/orange mix— do you know that smell and think this smells like church incense?

No, not at all.  The BA FO is more fresh cedar than incense.

Are you familiar with Caribbean Teakwood?  It always reminds me of incense and has some cedar and other woods in it.  I use the CS version.

Coconut waxes have been marketed as a new natural miracle wax that has the same great hot throw as paraffin. They simply aren't a one wax / one pour, you have to blend it with something else to get it to work.

    Amen to all that Brother!

PS: spent last week in JT. The wild flowers are wild this year!

it was OK, I didn't get that far with it.  It's another coco wax blend that IMO is still too easy to burn and difficult to wick well and needs some additions to make it viable. If I had it today, I'd probably try blending it with 30, 40 or 50% soy to see how that works.

The only pre-blended coco wax I've used that I liked out of the box is the Lab Co Coconut wax, which I believe (based on my experiments to duplicate it) is predominantly soy along with coconut and quite a bit of paraffin.

Are you referring to Coconut Oil?? Or coconut wax??

What's the difference?   If you're talking about a 100% coconut product and not one of the many mystery blends currently being marketed as "Coconut wax" ...

You can buy 100% Coconut Wax , a soft, white, solid from Cargill composed of Hydrogenated coconut glycerides" with a MP of appx 90-102 degrees or you can buy Coconut Oil 92, a soft white solid, from a soap supplier like Bulk Apothecary composed of  Hydrogenated coconut glycerides with a MP of appx 92 degrees.   If there's a difference between those 2 products, aside from the name, I can't tell what it is.

I blend 100%  coconut oil (or wax, if you prefer)  with soy -  the soy used and the ratio of coco:soy take some tweaking to get good results for sure.  It's not a magic bullet.  Too much coco does not a better candle make.

  5. I think Dream Vessels prices are more than reasonable considering the freight costs and hassles on importing from a unknown supplier. She's basically selling at wholesale.  If you all want 1000 units I'd email her and see what she can do price -wise on that qty.  It might help push her over the factory minimum and next level discount next time she reorders and that might be a win win for all.

I just read the story from the link. It does seem very similar. The reason I shared that guys correspondence with me was because I knew that if it was bogus that some of y'all had probably seen it before. The only thing I can't figure out is what it is he wants from me. Does he want the merchandise or will he come back to me with a story that the deal with his freight forwarder has fallen through, blah, blah, blah and we need to work the deal another way, blah, blah, blah?

If you read the link I included it tells you exactly what they want and how they get it from you.

  7. @TallTayl the Lab Co wax is the same price as the C&S slabs in the small qtys.  They both charge 2.80 lb.  But Lab Co only offers 20% off for larger qtys. They're pretty clearly geared towards the hobbyist, in pricing and presentation.

As a hobbyist,  Lab Co was actually less $ for me when I factored in the freight charges.  It all depends on where one is located I suppose..

I know for a fact that they are just repackaging the wax and selling it. This is actually the same exact wax from candle and science. They both sale them for the same price too.  I know because I get the same wax however, I get it directly from the manufacturer.

which wax from candle science are you referring to?  Or do you mean candles and supplies?  What manufacturer?

From what I can tell nothing - it looks, feels and behaves the same in candles

coconut 2 is supposed to have 2% soy in it and it is a little firmer blended in other waxes but would be too soft imo to use alone in a candle

Right, I think as TT said, coconut 1 is coconut oil 92 with another name.  They cost about the same too but if someone lives close to a soapmaking supplier that has coconut oil 92 maybe they can save $ on freight buying that instead of shipping in 50 lbs of coconut 1 wax from one of the few places that stock it.
I don't see the point of coconut 2 especially if one is already blending this with soy themselves, as I imagine anyone would.   It's not as if you can really use it as a stand alone wax.
