  1. We've hit our summer groove already (100+ degrees) and I've just realized this'll probably cause a problem with shipping candles. I've got a bunch of wickless tins that my sister out of state would like to add to a small craft display, but I've just realized that it's possible they'll end up pretty messy by the time they reach their destination a state away. I'm using 4630 which has a melt point of 119 and although I don't know exactly how hot the back of a delivery truck gets it's probably a safe bet it's close. Is there anything I can do short of packing ice packs with them or am I just out of luck for the next four months?
  2. No input here either but it sure looks yummy!
  3. Very pretty, love the texture on top.
  4. Very pretty! Can't wait to see them cut!
  5. Here are some glass straws: http://www.gelstuff.com/glassstraws.html
  6. It's not too bad for something I can do while the kids are at school (it needs about two hours of work a day). That's also pre-taxes though. :lipsrseal
  7. I've got it set up so it's an automatic deposit to my checking account, otherwise they send you a check if your monthly total is over $100. I don't advertise my own site with them, so I'm not sure how they work that.
  8. I have a Google ad on a (non-candle) site that I've been building up for years. I make several hundred dollars a month from it which in turn funds my candle making. So yeah, people do make money from them if they get enough traffic.
  9. My DH *really* likes Maduro from Green Leaf (I do too).
  10. No problem! I bought a case of them a couple of months ago and have started testing this week. They're very cute!
  11. I wrap a dish towel around my containers on the counter before I pour the wax in. I don't trust myself moving containers of liquid wax around and this has worked well.
  12. I also use the 4630 in the 8 oz jelly jars. I've found the HTP 73 works the best. I've found a couple of scents that do better with the 83, but for most it's been 73.
  13. I had a disclaimer kind of thing on my feedback sheets and just had the tester sign the bottom of it when they gave it back. That was the intention, anyway. I've given out about a dozen candles with feedback sheets and have got back a whopping one sheet. No matter how much I try to stress that these aren't just freebies and I do need feedback in exchange for the actual candle, I don't seem to be taken seriously. I'll be doing it all myself from now on. :undecided
  14. Well, I finally had a chance to light up my own tester of Coconut Bubble this morning (been testing other scents and didn't want them competing), and I can safely say the "no throw" is definitely a problem on my neighbor's end. It's been burning for two hours and I can smell it everywhere except the rooms that have doors shut. It *is* a fairly light scent so I think it's being drowned out by her plug-in scent, and I'm sure her burning it in a closed-up room was part of the problem as well. I guess this means no more testers for the neighbor! :lipsrseal
  15. Another fan of Just Scents' Lemon Sugar!
  16. DH and I were outside working on the yard today and she obviously had some windows open because her air freshener/plug-ins was ALL we could smell. I think the fragrance nose idea is probably very likely! Do you think that would burn off too much of the FO, though? I'm paranoid about doing it *too* high but I should probably give it a shot and see. I'm definitely going to allow for some cure time from now on!
  17. Oh, thank you for that heads-up! Thank you! I think I'll get some vanilla and cinnamon and pit them against the pre-mixed. I'm going to have a busy weekend next week!
