  1. Super question!!! Is there a chart somewhere that compares all wicks side by side??? CD's, HTP'S, LX'S, etc, etc etc TIA
  2. Just bumping this up, as I think I need some advice!!
  3. Hi all! Ok, now we have the same candle, after 6 hours of straight burning today.. No blow outs ... yet.... but it seems to be burning more down now, instead of out!! This isn't what I want is it. In last nights pic btw, the center was right on, it was just the camera angle.. but now............. it's not so hot! As stated above, my wic now is an htp 105, so a few of you suggested to wick down... I have all of the HTP sizes except for HTP 93, which my supplier doesn't have unwaxed, although she has it tabbed. So should I try for an HTP 83??? I also have some CD 8's, CD14's and some CD16's..on hand for the moment, but I suspect I'll be getting more wicks soon enough. I did want to just try with the htp's for starting out though.. Suggestions, help, and comments (good or bad... I've got big shoulders:D ) are very, very welcome!!! And again thank you all very much in advance!!
  4. Thank you so much for your very valued opinions!!! It really is appreciated! I'll relight this one in the morning, (I've got a Mystic Breeze burning at the moment) and just let it go... see what happens after 5 or 6 hours.. take a pic and let you all know!! For a wick I used an HTP 105, just in case you were all wondering.. and I will wick down after my test, if you think I should. I'm here to learn, so I'm open to your comments and suggestions!!!
  5. I am test burning my first square pillar... and I would like to know if this is burning right. I think it looks ok, but I would your expert opinions, please!! Wax is PB Pillar Ecosoya, fragrance lilac, color - lavender chips.. This was on its second burn... after 3½ hours.. Melt pool was a little more than 1/4 inch deep. Hopefully the pic will upload properly...
  6. I was going to ask the same question!!! How do you do that? Is it difficult to learn??? They are gorgeous!!!! I'm still trying to learn how to do basic pillars!!! That second pour gets me everytime.... I can see the line where my 2nd pour is!! Grrrrrrrr!!! What am I doing wrong? Candle Kitty, I sent you a PM on another subject, btw!!
  7. Thank you soooooooooo much for the advice!!! I'm off to prepare a nice little wick and wick tab order!! As I am using Soy Wax I'll order a little bit of each size, and test until I get it right!! First I'll try with the HTP wicks as this seems to be the main for soy???.. or so I've read!! I've read sooooooooo much in the last few weeks, that my head is spinning here, especially where wicks are concerned, but I'm learning!! I'm so pleased that I've found this forum too. You guys and gals are all super!!
  8. Thank you celicagtca!!! That is exactly what I'll try!! I'll let you know how it goes, once I get them in!!
  9. ROFLMAO:laugh2: :laugh2: This is killing me here, I'm laughing so hard!!!
  10. She has trouble counting dye blocks too.... I'm still a newbie in all of this, but even I can see this particular seller is not quite there!! 2 DYE BLOCKS!! 1 RED 1 PINK 1 BROWN PARRIFINE Oh my!!!
  11. Another note: If I look at the specifications on an HTP -52 wick from Canwax another Canadian supplier... the Pool Diamater is supposed to be 1.5 inches. These Village & Craft wicks are barely making it to 1¼".. sooooo in sum should I try HTP 62????
  12. Hi! Thank you for responding!! From Village and Craft website, and on the invoice, these wicks are listed as and on the package it's written: Self Centering Votive - this typed, and Soy is written by hand.. So I guess they are HTP.... but that still doesn't solve my burning problem.. Ohhhhh my wicking nightmare begins....
  13. I purchased some Self Centering Votive wicks especially for Soy wax from Village & Craft. I made some votives using: 1 - Village & Craft Votive Soy Wax: with Monkey Farts FO - no colour. and 2 - Canwax Eco soy PB Pillar: no FO's but with lavender colour. My problem is that the votives burn about an 1" out. The melt pool doesn't reach the sides properly.. Has anyone else tried these wicks? Or is it the wax?? Am I better to use HTP wicks??? Help pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Thank you so much for the link ... they have every type of pillar, votive, ball, etc.... but no cone! I have kept this in my favorites though... Thank you!
  15. Well I'm trying to learn with round and square molds first. I just finished pouring my first 3 x 4½" square mold. We bought 12 different types of molds last week, and we kind of liked the cone. I doubt I'll be ready to try that one for awhile yet though..
  16. This one is for newbies like me!!! Put plenty of mold sealant on the bottom of your molds..... other wise you get nice hot coloured wax all over your counter top.. I just read this........ Of course I didn't do this... Uh hmmmmmmm....
  17. I realize this is a difficult question to answer because of the shape, but can someone give me a hint as to which wick to start testing with?? Please??? Do I go with the center of the cone to use as diameter??:undecided In other words would I start with a wick good for a 2" pillar?
  18. Hi! I need some advice please. I have just started making candles, so I obviously need to learn alot more. I am using Soy Wax. I would like to know what wic to use in a 2½" x 5½" cone. I'll be using the EcoSoya Pillar wax! Thanks in advance!
