  1. BB's cedar is good, also. That's the only other I've tried so far.
  2. I'm starting to experiment with perfuming and it's mostly been with fragrance oils and carrier oils. I'm interested in using aroma chemicals individually, but I'm no chemist, and I'd like to learn more about others' experiences with things like fixatives, bases, mixtures, and all sorts of other things that go into perfume making.
  3. As another little tidbit: I ordered what SOS considers the equivalent scent to Moroccanoil, a scent I am going to duplicate if it kills me. Resultant reaction to said order: You have to be kidding me. (I deserve a gold star for not using an expletive in there.)
  4. I've liked everything from Flaming Candle. I have about 20 or so. I like a lot of FOs from BA and BB. I had good and bad experiences with Nature's Garden. Some of them were potent and accurate, (coffee, chocolate, and leather, for example, and their Creed Irish and English Ivy are fresh and strong. Honey Bunny is nice, too. ) BUT, some were just crap. NG Tobacco Caramel? I seriously don't understand what is going on in that bottle. I was so excited about their Money scent. It smelled exactly like new money...until it didn't anymore. It now smells like...something. A thing that is not money. Then the cinnamon. Where is it? I can't smell it. Did they forget to put in the cinnamon part? Now, I understand that sometimes scents bloom once in wax or soap, but I've tried other brands of the same scents and they're delightful. Is this TMI?
  5. I have it and I also love it. I have actually liked everything I've purchased from them. I absolutely love the Pipe Tobacco.
  6. That's exciting! I would love to hear about your favorite creations!
  7. I'm using them to create perfumes, and then I'll try those blends in soy wax and perhaps body care products to see what happens. You just never know. Lebermuth doesn't seem to offer small sizes to try. Am I wrong about that?
  8. I've been corresponding with someone at Perfumer's Apprentice and discussed some scents I was trying to create. Here are his suggestions: "I LOVE our Pink Peppercorn, and would highly recommend it. Our 'Dirt' fragrance oil may fit the bill for your soil/fresh earth. If you want to try a non-fragrance oil earthy fragrance, I recommend 'Terrasol.' Musk (Animalic) - Tonquitone definitely. Deep, Genuine Woody = Bois Des Landes (in our Natural > Robertet or Bases & Blends section). Leather - Cuir Vitessence (Bases & Blends) Not a fragrance oil. We also have a Leather fragrance oil that you could try." I am going to order sample sizes of each of these. I would love to discuss this further. I'll certainly share my experiences if anyone's interested.
  9. I love scents like those. I use a lot of cedar and cedar blends, but have not purchased a cedar vanilla. I'm going to try some oils and chemaromas from this company: https://shop.perfumersapprentice.com/c-55-fragrance-oils.aspx I'm interested in trying the individual aromas to make something really unique. I've been corresponding with someone there and he sent me these recommendations: "I LOVE our Pink Peppercorn, and would highly recommend it. We also have a Leather fragrance oil that you could try".
  10. Thank you for telling me, Karen. Let me know if you find something awesome, and I'll be sure to do the same!
  11. SaveOnScents sells some interesting FOs like "Cement" and "Basement." Has anyone tried any of their novelty scents or any from another vendor that are accurate representations of what they claim to be?
  12. Have you ever found a Black Tea that smells like black tea? Or just tea? Tea should be dry and bitter. Must be hard to replicate, as everyone's smell like flowers.
  13. I love Pipe Tobacco! I've been looking for the right one and this is it: Just like my grandfather's- warm and cozy with a tiny bit of cherry. Paired with a little campfire and it's magical.
  14. Is there a thread here where everyone shares the most realistic scents?
  15. No, I haven't. Thanks for the suggestion!
  16. VANILLA THAT ISN'T BUTTERY OR ARTIFICIAL! (Sorry. I needed to yell that.) I simply cannot find one.I want something that smells like a real vanilla bean pod- not ice cream or cake or butterscotch or cheap, pre-teen perfume from Justice- but actual vanilla.
  17. I'm interested in knowing if anyone is using individual chemicals for their scents like rather than purchasing pre-made fragrance oils. I'm so curious and tempted to try them, but I never hear anyone talking about them.
  18. Hey There, Thanks for letting me into this helpful group! I'm looking forward to learning from you all and hopefully helping, too. Cheers!
