  1. try aquarium stores that sell fish tanks and accessories for tanks. they have glass fish for decorations in most tanks.
  2. well, that lets my mind rest alot! Thanks V for that insight...i did look at other web pages that have Gel candles and i did notice the bubbles in 95% of the candles. Thanks again for all the insight into making these lovely creations!
  3. well, i will give that a shot. i tried to pour it like beer (down the edge), this cut back the bubbles alot but i'm finding those little tiny ones are the problem. thanks for all the help! :tiptoe: back to work i go!
  4. ok, i think i've tried everything that has been mentioned to me or posted here on the boards. i'm trying to eliminate bubbles...raw wick, heating the scenery before the pour, priming the wick, heating the gel (adding the fo), cooling the gel then re-heating it again. is it my high expectations or is it next to impossible to eliminate those nasty little bubbles? just about ready to hit myself with the stupid stick.
  5. thanks for the wonderful replies...as for the pot holders/oven mitts...I find them too bulky. I just had a "brain fart" and was thinking how the cotton gloves with the little rubber "dots" on them would work. Should have some around here somewhere....best look now while it's on my mind! Thanks again.
  6. Mornin all! Not quite impressed with the "rustic" effect i have here but they are alot of "fun" to make. Have to figure out how to "tilt" the mould without burning my hands.
  7. thanks for your suggestions! i actually banged my head against the wall again today trying to make another i was "happy" with...turned out better this time...i do believe it's all a matter of patience and yes...correct temp! thanks again!!
  8. I have noticed some lovely pillars in the gallery...my question is, when you pour the "slanted designs", how do you keep the wax from looking "rustic" when the candle is complete. if you pour too hot, the damn wax "bleeds" like a stuck pig! thanks for any info!!
  9. Thank you, thank you for the imput! I'd be importing these fragrances into Canada and although it's $8.50 per bottle, the shipping and brokerage can cost LOTS! i can't take the chance of a Crappy scent...even if it is "cheaper".
  10. Just wondering if anyone has ever ordered from GellyCandle...what are their fragrances like? I noticed they have a major scent sale right now that i'd like to take advantage of...also, can't find their email addy. hummm, anyone? Thanks in advance!
  11. well thanks alot for all the information you have provided! Think I'm going to try pouring into the votive cup as suggested, i don't know why i thought votives could be made...maybe i seen that link that was posted on here before. thanks again to all!
  12. ok, ok...maybe a "stupid" question, i tried to search it but since i had no luck i thought "why not ask"... how is it possible to get the wick pin out of the gel? what wicks do you use to ensure proper burn? what sort of burn times do you get on these? full of questions...thanks to all who respond!
  13. well, for the pecans, that would work perfectly. i should be able to glue my wax embeds already made into the pan and then pour over top. something so simple and yet couldn't think of that solution! thank you! will have to try to rig something up for the fruit though...anyone with other suggestions?
  14. please, please explain how to "secure" the objects! my husband and i made a cherry and raspberry mould and although they "do the trick", we did notice that the objects floated and could've caused a major problem. we'd like to make a large pecan mould and were wondering if we could pour the mixture into a pan and then push the objects into the curing material???
  15. if you know of a millwright company close to you, you may want to ask them to build one for you. that's what i did...a vat that holds over 200lbs of wax (separated in the center with 2 pour spouts)...cost me $100.00 for the vat and $80 for an immersable water temp probe. a heck of a lot cheaper than forking out the $$$$'s of dollars for the ones online! IMO
  16. well, just wasted about .5 lb of gel by dropping it on the darned ol dirty floor. wasn't sure if it could be washed off or not so being i was already ticked, i chucked it.
  17. i would have to say lily is my worst frag to pour. another that is next on the "worst pour" list would be Eucalyptus. reminds me of having Vapo-Rub applied
  18. all the above metioned places do indeed have wonderful looking stands, except for the fact that i'm looking more in the ontario/canada region. paying brokerage/duty is just about killing me!
  19. Just wondering if anyone knows as to where i could find a 3-tier pie stand that would hold 5" pies. i'm in the southwestern ontario region and anywhere in the GTA would be a start i'm sure...i just don't know where to begin looking! thanks in advance!
  20. ok, now i'm baffled! i tried to find "tealight" making instructions here but have not located it. i am quite happy with the 4630 wax yet am quite willing to try something else. can someone please point me in the right direction regarding wax/wicking? thanks in advance!
  21. i've tried to make the sachet bags and i have found that the fragrance doesn't last very long. what is the "average" time in which the "smell is gone"? maybe i'm making them wrong...i noticed someone mentioned about "baking the beads". Humm, i better do some more research! Anyone with tips??
  22. interesting comment made in previous post...something to the affect of looking like a pie at a bakery. i actually sell them to a bakery in my home town. they sell like crazy there (and everywhere else). most people i have talked to don't actually burn them...they smell enough, even with the scran wrap left on. thanks for all your wonderful feedback!
  23. thanks to all for the compliments. i am new at working with gel but it's alot of fun (and challenging). making these pies are time consuming but well worth the rewards. i have found that making my own fruit and crusts gives me the ability to play a little more and be creative without a lot of expense (buying embeds from other suppliers). it's well worth it though...thanks again!
  24. interesting...i thought it would be like parrafin and melt to the outter edge. i suppose i'm doing it right then cause i just looked at the candle and the gel slants inward and there is a tiny outter ring left of the gel. may i ask...why? i suppose after working with parrifin i'm just wondering why the gel wouldn't pool to the edge. many of my customers are thankful they don't have a major dip in their parrifin candless...how do i explain to them that gel "just isn't like that"? thanks again!
  25. here's my attempt at making these cute little pies. i'm not too creative at packaging so anyone with valuable information as to how to display these would be accepted with appreciation.
