  1. thanks for that list. I'll try a few of them. I recently started making candles and I have been using Candle Science. One that I have tried which I like a lot is Blood Orange. great scent and very strong. jmh
  2. wish I had seen this sooner. Blood Orange. very strong and great scent, imo. I ordered cranberry marmalade and their apple harvest. I can get back with you on that. thanks for sharing your three. I'll try them next time. jmh
  3. "I too love the Blood Orange from Candle Science . Many of the oils from that company are very nice + are very good quality. What type of scents to you gravitate to so that can help us make better suggestions . May I ask what wicks you've had good success with your 464 soy wax." the wicks I am using are Eco 14 pre tabbed 6". they seem to work real well. the scents i like are more masculine. I like patchouli, cedar wood, etc. So I don't know how Orange got in there, but I do like it. I would like to try maybe a good cranberry something or even apple, to see if I like it. I like to try things related to Harvest or Autumn so I ordered a few of those scents from a place called Bitter Creek. thanks for getting back.
  4. I'm real new to candle making. I like making them, but it's just for me. I'm a school teacher who needed a hobby. after a few tries my candles are turning out very nice. I use 464 Soy wax. So that leaves me to figure out fragrances. I would love to hear what people are saying are good or strong fragrances. I just just ordered a dozen or so samples and I must say I am somewhat underwhelmed. Maybe they'll impress me after I put them into my candle. If anyone out there maybe mention a few and where they come from...I don't know a lot of the abbreviations or acronyms used for some of these businesses. One fragrance I found, which I thought was super strong came from a company called Candle Science. It was the 'Blood Orange'. I definitely will be ordering that again. So if anyone out there has a list or just a few fragrances they would recommend that would be great. thanks jmh
  5. Same here. Although I am fairly new to making candles... I use 464 and pour between 145 and 150. My tops look very nice so far.
  6. thanks to people for getting back with me on this. If anyone is interested Here's a link to an article, I thought is very informative. http://www.stephen-herman.com/Perf_Flav.pdf As it turns out my topic question wasn't a very smart one. Jul
  7. Hi, I recently joined this forum and I'm glad for all the information. There is one thing though despite looking around a good bit I have not been able to find. There is so much talk on the internet about what goes into Fragrance Oils. I am using Soy wax 464 and I would like to find something in terms of fragrances that's not harmful. I ordered the Floral sample pack from Aztec and all it gives me is the name of what I ordered, but not much else. I decided to make candles for myself and maybe, if they turn out give some to my friends for Xmas. I don't want to make anything that could possibly be harmful. I am sure there are many other Candle makers out there who are thinking about this. How are you all dealing with this? thanks Jul
  8. Hi my name is Jul and I am just getting started making my own candles. I live in the Carolinas and I am a school teacher looking for a new hobby. I've been wanting to make my own candles for a while now. I have lots of questions and am glad I found this site.
