I used GW464 (Akosoy 5702-02-02) for that ... as I said, I only made it to get rid of those embeds I had left over, which were originally intended for gel candles, so they were made with a high melt point paraffin wax (160-165dF) ... a "hurricane" wax.  When using them in gel candles, the high temp wax is less likely to melt when meeting up with the hot gel if poured correctly.

A few years ago during holidays, I made some wax "cookies" and placed them on top, pouring over just slightly enough to make them "stick."  With these, the embeds were paraffin mixed with a little soy and the candle was soy.  I found a couple of pics, so I thought I'd share them with you ...

    These are absolutely FABULOUS !!!!

You have really inspired me to give this a try 😀

Love the holiday theme as well.

    Thanks for sharing

Birdcharm, your candle is really beautiful!  I love it and that is how I imagined mine would turn out.  What wax is that?  Are your embeds of the same wax too?

Jane, your candles too are beautiful.  What wax is that and did you use the same wax for the embeds.  I'm looking at the embeds and they are really translucent to me.  They look like ice cubes.  Now when you did your repour did you drizzle your repour wax as what it looks like over the embeds?  Now I know I couldn't drizzle my 464 repour over the embeds as it surely will turn out looking like Fido's butt...I know that won't work but I will do the repour over just the top of the wax in the candle.  But you know what, if I can't get the embeds to show up in the body of the candle jar, doing the embeds in the contrasting colors as in the original picture with slight gold mica over them, I think you could still have a "stunning" candle...I truly do.  Just gotta test the waters and make them and see.

Kat, I disagree with you saying that you would end up making something not good and would be too embarrassed to put up pictures.  I know you could do something fabulous and I have learned so much from you here on the forum and especially you always suggesting what scents are great and duds and your always helping people out.  Shoot you should see some of these disastrous bombs I have made!  But it's fun isn't it?  So you should get going and try it...I'm going to.  And yep put up pictures!  I'd love to see them.  And who cares or gives a crap if they don't turn out, we can all admire, drool or yes, even for that matter laugh at them....!   Well at least you tried.  And we all have fun here anyway, and that's what its all about anyways the way I look at it...

    Thanks Trapp!

I am going to at least try ,will post pics too. Hey your right

I can at least say I tried right .

I just do not have much experience with candies ,so I lack confidence .lol.

I do agree it is fun trying new projects.

I know it will take time for me to get this finished ,however I will keep you posted on my progress . I am going thru some container jars now to decide which ones I wanna use. I have some cute Lil Chrismas tart molds fir the embeds .

I love helping people & you know I always get Blessed in return . I am blessed to have found this site 😉

I meant to add, you have to add/attach the embeds up against the glass before pouring your over pour. As you can see, if you don't the overpour will seep and go inbetween the embed and the glass.

Yes! Yes! Absolutely Amazing! This is exactly the way I want mine to look using Christmas melts & colors. JC these candles you made are sooooo awsome .

Thank you so much for sharing the pics . I will probably end up to embarrassed to post my results.

I want to give this a try & I can at least say I did attempt to do so right lol. I certainly do not have the experience you & many others here have .

I feel fortunate to at least have you all to demonstrate your success. I appreciate your post so very much .

    Thank you bunches

I may be trying to do something that's not possible ,wanting to get the embeds on the sides of the jar & make them visible as possible .

I was planning to do Christmas theme melts for gifts . I am going to attempt to do this project according to Trapps method .I am excited to see her results .

    Thank you bunches !

I thought the same as soon as I took it out of the shipping box.  I did contact the supplier and they stated the 4625 is within specs and no other complaints.  I pretty much was nice but firm with them that there's always a first to have a bad batch and it's me.  They stated they don't usually refund, but they did for me.  These slabs have been sitting and I do not have use for them.

I use 4625 & never had this issue either .Sorry your having issues with the wax.

am glad the company is at least refunding you . I blend mine with 4630 for melts.

I really want to try JC's blend ,sounds interesting .I see she post her tart blend is 4625& 4794 . I know you & I are always wanting to experiment with every blend we can get our hands on .

I recently ordered more CW 129 ,as I always keep this one on hand for many fragrances.Kind of a must have wax for me kwim.

I am going to order some 4794 to blend with the 4625 & see what results I get for melts.

JC has many more years into this than I ,so going to give her blend a try . I am happy with the ones I use ,just like trying different blends ..

lol...I  think it has become a habit to order many different waxes to blend ,does get to be a  expensive habit thou ..

I actually read about this company on the other post a while back ....I was having so much trouble with beads myself & decided to try these. Let's hope they work out for us. 😀

Well, thanks in having faith in me Kat....glad someone does....but you know I'm not changing my regular wick size of whatever jar I use.  When I'm doing a candle that has 3 or even 4 wicks I always have those little doo dad/melts on the top of the wax and the big jars I do sometimes I wind up using 5 embeds and they burn perfect...so I'm not going to go hog crazy with a lot of melts on the top so I will start from there.   Wish me luck.

    Trappeur

I know yours will turn out perfect . I wish ya luck ,but you will do this I know .It's me that will need the luck . I am going to do my best so the shapes will show thru the glass .If this at all possible with my hand at it ...Lol

I have seen pics of your gorgeous candles here on CS . I love the added touch with the melts on top. 😀

I make white ones by not putting any dye at all in the beads. I've also used white mica powder if I wanted to make it look not so translucent. I think I got mica from RE or Aztec. Also, I have made black ones too. You just have to use enough dye to make them black and not grey. It doesn't seem to affect the scent.

Belinda I received my beads from Plasticpellets4fun .

I love the fact they are the smaller type .The price is great too. I have some soaking now & excited to get results .I so want these to work out ,as the price is wonderful.

This company ships speedy fast , received my order in 2 days ,packing was great as well ,so professional .Just wanted to let you know .

Your right on the dye ,has not effected the scent at all for me either . I sometimes add alot to get the color I am wanting , especially black & navy blue .

That's exactly what I was thinking.....They would look just beautiful to sell as tarts in a nice jar like this tureen where people would pickout the tart/melt and put in their warmer to burn.

Now what I'm going to do is pour a regular candle and let it get a heavy slush  and add a few tarts already made into the candle and push what ever I can against the glass walls so you can see bits and pieces of the tart melts as it solidifies.  If I can add the melts at the right temperature I'm pretty sure they won't dissolve.   Then I'm going to push the melts into the top of the candle while the candle is more than slushy but a loose firm...lol.....lol...geesh am I making sense or what?  Then after the top melts are in the wax I would let the candle do its thing and get completely firm and then do a second pour but pour only on top of the wax, not over the melts...I know I can do it....well, I think I can...well I know I can....You don't need tons of melts in the candle as like JC said it will not burn correctly...without a doubt it wouldn't.   But I'm gonna give it and try and take pictures and see how it comes out....

    Trappeur

Trapp ,I know you can easily accomplish this project 😀

Lol....However me that's a whole new can of worms.

I do not have near the experience or knowledge that you have with candle making.

I am going to use your tutorial method & see if I can at least try...

Thank you for posting in such great detail, will help me out a lot.

I look forward to your finished pics. I will post mine as well . It will take me some time & I just hope I can keep my patience thru it all. The wicking seems to always be the big challenge for me with candle making .

I  was out of the red & just thought I noticed white in the liquid dye section. Thats good you found the powdered in white to use .

Yes definitely do lmk what some of your favorites for Fall are.  The Orange Sugar & Shea is very nice.  It's not an in your face orange it's light but has such nice undertones of greens and florals in it.  To my nose it almost smells more tangerine smelling.  But certainly doesn't disappoint. The Candy Crush is nice!  If your looking for an in your face STRONG candy smell this is the one!  It is heavy banana followed by kiwi and other fruity notes.  It does well for sure.

Do do you have any suggestions for Fall scents from WSP, Bittercreek or JS?  Please do share if so.  I need a handful of new Fall scents.

I will pour test the WSP Apple Pie & let you know how this one turns out ,smells great oob.

This one I plan to use year round ,however would make a great Fall scent . I was looking thru some of my oils & found a bottle of WSP Crazy caramel Corn ,need to put this one in the wax as well.

I think WSP Hot Buttered Rum is great for fall. I had great results with this one .I will keep sorting thru the ones I have & get back with you.

Sorry I do not have any from Bittercreek , would like to try some of their oils thou.

I do not have much luck with Just scent ,so hope someone here can help you out on hers . I think I recall Trapp loving JS Farmhouse cider ,think that's the correct name . I just cannot get JS oils to work in my wax ,only a few had good results .

I really like many from Flaming in the Fall selection .I get more hits with Flaming than misses kwim. Love most all of F scents 😀 Thier Apple Cinnamon is wonderful .

I also love many from Frangrance Buddy .

I will be in touch ,thank you

Lol at first i thought the same thing but then i realized that was a picture before they poured plain white wax in to fill up all the open areas in the jar with wax.

Yes it definitely has a over pour

I read the entire tuturial as Sarah suggested & was wanting to experiment with the project for Christmas gifts . I do not sell candles & lack the confidence of ever doing so . I would like to make palm candles someday for myself & family . I have a long long way to go when it comes to candle making . I have made some with my container paraffin with good results ,took a while to finally get a few scents mastered lol.. I like chunk look candles & thought this was interesting 😀

  18. 1 minute ago, ncraiders said:

I feel like one of the best waxes for this project would be palm seeing as if the mold for the tarts is not overly detailed you can make the tarts out of the container palm wax.  I might look into trying this once i get my palm wax wick figured out.

I love the look of palm wax candles .I agree this project would look very nice made with palm. The wicking is going to be the big challenge for me here lol...Gotta start with a plan thou right...

Kat, I think your plan sounds very doable! That's a great place to start!

I have never tried to wick any of my pillar wax either. I use HTPs for my container wax, but the zincs might be a better way to go for wicking both.

I like Trapp's idea about using soy and adding the embeds at the slush stage too! I would love to see where you ladies go with this project! 😃

It will be a challenge for me.

I know Trapp can do this blind folded lol.... I will keep you posted & put a pic of my final finished candles . I know this will take time for me ,so be patient with mine .I look forward to making these for gifts . I know I am in for alot of testing that's for sure lol. Thank you bunches!!!

Kat, did you look at the tutorial? That picture is only about halfway through the process. After they stick the wick in the jar and add the tarts, they pour a container wax over the whole business like a regular candle. Id bet getting the right wick is tough with the two different types of wax. And that container.

Maybe read through that tutorial and see if you think it's doable for you? I'm sure you could use whatever pillar wax and container wax you have on hand. And the wax would determine your wick.

IMO, you should be able to use a single pour like 6006 for the whole thing, that might make the wicking easier anyway.

Thanks Sarah ,Yes read the tutorial . I have not much experience with candle making lol.  I make tons of wax melts &  a few candles in my spare time .It is a  huge dream of mine to master candle making with palm wax ,that's a whole new story I know right ?

I saw Trapps post & want to make a few of these for gifts before the holiday season. It will take me that long to get the candles made properly .

I am terrified of the thought to ever give anyone a candle that is not properly wicked . I lack confidence when it comes to wicking . I have mastered some candles with good results using 4630 . I do realize

how much testing is involved when it comes to candle making .

I appreciate having you all here to help me out when I have a question . I am planning to make the melt chunks with my reg blend & over pour with the 4630 ,wicking is going to be the big challenge here . The melts will be 4625/4630 blend ,same as I always use for melts ,over pour 4630, just not sure about wicking ,being the chunks will have 4625 ,never wicked this wax before .

I have mostly used zinc wicks with 4630 ,seems to work out fine ,once I got the correct size wick with each container .

I am going to give this project a try & maybe by Christmas I will have mastered a few for gifts..lol if I do not lose my patience.

I know I will be going thru a ton of wax, wicks, jars during my trail testing . Thank you Sarah ,I greatly appreciate your response 😉

Hey Kat, your not asking too many questions....;)Ask anything and if I know the answer, I'll answer...even if I don't know, I'll answer...lol

I'm going to try that in the next couple of days...and I know I use 464.....but I think I can make it work as I've done a lot of melts....but I'm thinking ....

I have honey dye, hunter green dye and teal/aqua dye....so I could experiment with those colors....

Oops, don't have any mica....geesh wonder where I could get that quick?....

The thing is the way they say to do it, geesh you would have to do extensive testing to get the correct wick.  And I'm not going with waxes that I have never used, that is for sure.   I think what I would do is pour the entire candle in my regular 464, and when the wax is at the slushy/more firm stage I am going to add the embeds and slide them into the slush and push up against the walls of the jar.  I don't think you need mica on the embeds going down in the body of the jar.  And I don't want anything to clog my wick.  Now what I would do is make the embeds for the top but make like 6 or 7 embeds depending on the size of them .  Now I would let my jar candle firm up pretty good with enough firmness but soft enough so I can push the embeds into the wax. Then I would do a slight repour as the final step on the candle top...Now this is what I am thinking of how I will make it.

    Trappeur

    Thanks Trapp,

This project look so interesting & nice for gifts . The wicking is what will be the HUGE challenge for me...I have made candles ...lol for myself only for now using 4630 .

I do blend for melts thou  with the 4625 wax .

I would be terrified to give away any candle that I have not tested for safety performance . I only sell wax melts atm...

I am just not sure where to start with wicking this chunky piece of art. I thought about making the melt chunks ,same as I normally do, then do the over pour with my 4630 ...I really lack confidence when it come to candles . I was thinking if I start now with this ,just may get a few mastered before the holidays . I know I will have to test & test until I get the candles wicked properly.

Thank you for your detailed response . I know you have alot of experience & your great at candle making . I know it takes time & tons of testing to master a whole line of candles as you have done . I admire your dedication & hard work .

I am so Blessed to have you all to turn to when I hit a bump in the road with this wax journey .

I will let you know how this is going . I hope to have a few made the safe correct way by the time the holidays arrive ..lol Wish me luck.

The wicking is certainly going to be the biggest Mountain to climb here for me . Hey I gotta try right . Thank you Trapp!!!
