  1. I HATE LoveSpell(always have,an old friend used to drench herself in the body spray and lotion...bleh). I made a batch last night and I had to open the windows and leave the kitchen because I got dizzy and ready to pray to the porcelian, just way to... plastic-like grapefruit? Can't explain, and I really don't want to have to think back to the experience :lipsrseal
  2. So I tested out the Vybar, and I got the 'honey comb' effect. I looked around on the site and it seems like it was caused by using too much Vybar(I did a little less than 1teaspoon for the half pound, so im not suprized). The pits are pretty dang deep, but thankfully these are just going to a family friend so she won't mind the discount. But, the sides and bottom of the tarts don't seem to have any pin holes(Hopefully it goes the same with votives, god do I hope!) and there was no blistering or fingernailing. So, just figure out the Vybar situation and I hope that things work out. So there are ALOT of choices in wax. I need some suggestions on where to get votive/tart wax. Unlike a mold, these you actually see the uneven and sunken part where you pour. Is there a good wax out there that levels out well???
  3. That sounds like a good idea. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the Vybar I just picked up will do me good, and hopefully help the problems I had with my other batches. The wax block I got is from Glorybee's, and I am actually thinking about taking it back because every single candle I did with the container wax not only fingernailed, but blistered, so I think that the wax was indeed bad. Thanks everyone!
  4. Thanks. I haven't been spraying the molds, but when I take them from the oven they are usually pretty damn warm to the touch, so not having to put them in the oven in the first place sounds great to me(One less step to do something wrong haha) Have you tried Candle Sheen? I noticed alot of candles tend to have a nice glossy look to them. Will the Vybar help the appearence or should I pick up a bottle of this Sheen stuff? And if I were to, how would I use it? Should I buy a spray bottle from a local department stores(Like the water misters/hair sprayers) or just glob it on? http://www.glorybeefoods.com/gbf/Shop_ProductDetail.cfm?PC=4&PSC=0&P=13555&Product_Name=sheen,%20candle&Token=24.22.12.90:{ts_2006-02-13_09:26:49}-607958 Thanks, Victoria
  5. Sounds great. I figured I needed something more with the plain block of parrafin than I have been using, especially considering I felt like I was doing things more or less as instructed but kept getting bubbled and ugly candles. Looks like I can pick up some Vybar at a candle company just a mile away, and can hopefully be ready to start back up with candles soon. Any other additives I should need? The company I will be going by is GloryBeefoods.com so if you see anything on that site that looks like I should get for candles let me know Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!! Victoria
  6. Im ready to throw up my hands and walk away from candles all together, and pout in a corner like a child. There is problem after problem, and my head is ready to pop with frusteration. So, my votives never come out correctly no matter how slow or perfect my temp is. They would burn great and efficently, but I would continue to get little 'pin holes' on the sides of the candles, that would be against the mold, causing them to not look presentable(using the 139deg melt point wax). Now, I decided to try and use container wax(the 130deg melt point) which I hear is also good with votives, but only ended up with a completely different problem. I was extra careful, watching the temp until reaching a close 180degrees, then pulled my molds from the oven while still warm and slowly poured the wax in. Now that they are cooling, they are becoming blistered on the top... But, I did notice that the wax it self had almost a urine discoloration in the center(not as noticable in picture). Maybe it wasn't blended well, to much of something in the middle causing it to just be a bad batch of wax? Any tips? Maybe I should try buying preblended wax as I have just been buying blocks from glorybee and using them straight with just FO and dye? Is there anybody that has had the similiar problems and found the answer??? Maybe I should just stick to using the pillar wax as before, since the little pin holes where an every other candle thing. I think I just need to pay somebody to come to my home and actually demonstrate for me Wax link: http://www.glorybeefoods.com/gbf/Shop_List.cfm?PC=4&PSC=76&ProductCat_Name=Paraffin%20Wax&Token=24.22.12.90:{ts_2006-02-10_22:24:55}-966135 An earlier picture with 'pin holes' Wax Picture of the recent 'blisters'
  7. Thanks for your help. The votive would make sense because I waited to pour the black until the red was completely cool, not to mention pouring fast and not tapping it to relieve any bubbles or anything since I had it tilted in a glass. And yes on the pillar. I only gave it one smack against the counter, and since I am doing all this in an apartment it wasn't a very good smack because I am resident on the top floor. I will be trying this over and hopefully I have better luck Oh, and thank you for the comment on the marble. I hope I can do it as nice the next time around
  8. So I finally decided to try some things out since my father is a big Dale Jr fan and wanted some red and black candles. So tonight I decided to finally pull up my sleeves and try out marbling and layering. Well, I made a layered votive and it has a small indent/crease from the line from red to black asif it didn't fill in properly.. Should I try pouring hotter next time(I poured the red at about 175, and repoured the black at about 180-85)? Also, I got little pin dents on the votive which I wouldn't mind taking care of as well. Then, the squared pillar. I absolutely LOVE how the marbled came out especially considering I was starting to worry it wouldn't come out at all. But, the mold had some rust spots that wrecked a corner of the candle(I figured would happend, grrrr)..and also I have these little air bubbles. This is the link to the wax I currently am using(which is suppost to be for molds) http://www.glorybeefoods.com/gbf/Shop_ProductDetail.cfm?PC=4&PSC=76&P=13524&Product_Name=wax,%20paraffin%20bar,%20139%20degree&Token=24.22.12.90:{ts_2006-01-26_23:10:02}-953419 Any help would be great, even if it is a smack to the face for this question being repeatedly asked by people haha Victoria ---- Forgot to mention, yes I do warm my mold containers in my oven
  9. I know I am going into adult acne, and the years have been fun... haha:mad: African Black Soap has been suggested, but if there is anybody on this site that makes good soaps then I would be interested in trying them out as I am currently using Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash and sense the years haven't changed with my skin, maybe I need to change how I care for it. What I need: Well I have oily skin(Italian skin haha), dry in some areas due to my treatment creams, acne as stated which causes my face to be very sensitive, and because of the acne I also have irritation. So if anybody here makes anything they enjoy or heard from people that works good, and thinks it would be worth a try with my pain in the arse skin then PM or email me. I would prefer buying half bars, or sample bars so I can test it out, but if needed I can probably come to terms of buying a full size bar Thanks, Victoria
  10. Agreed, Glorybee is awesome as I am a local to Eugene, Oregon and shop at their retail shop. All products are great, and at an unbeatable price
  11. Thanks for everyone's input, I really appreciate it, and to verify is this the liquid dye that the last few people where refering to? http://www.peakcandle.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PCMS&Product_Code=DYE-Liquid1oz&Category_Code=CLR Note to everyone: I found out never run to the sink when a candle mold starts giving out and wax is pouring
  12. So I have been reading through many of the post but haven't found any that really answers my overall question. I bought a few bottles of liquid candle dye and when testing out black realized a horrible odor. Like described in other post, it was very 'chemical' and over took the vanilla oil I dropped in before hand. Not only did it smell bad, but the 10 or so drops that I continiously put in my pound of wax only turned out to be a deep grey. Any black dye suggestions that have been found succesful, and without the harsh dye scent?
