  1. A long time! If I'm burning it for 2 hours at a time I'll get like 16 hours , I think if I burned it all in one sitting 8 hours
  2. No believe me I am taking and digesting all of your advices I already talked to a vendor and he sent me a wick chart based on diameter openings for my candles. I really appreciate all the advice and experience you are all passing on to me, I look forward to being able to share my own experience one day with newbies just like my current self.
  3. Yes yes yes I really do appreciate the advice and help you are all offering me, it's really nice of all of you and I would love to send out samples, please if anyone wants to test my candles let me know. Thank you all
  4. My wicks are shorter than the jar, I have pre made wicks. And it doesn't get hot near the bottom. It actually doesn't get hot at all except where the flame is burning even if I burn it for 3 hours. And I didn't wait for the lit example I posted to cure. I lit it the same night I made it. I think that I wana make that a unique part of my product the fact that it makes a nice melted top layer I think looks nice, and the flame burns cleanly. What other kind of whicks would I need to use, by appropriate wick size do you guys mean a thinner wick? Or a shorter wick? Or or do you guys mean pour more wax so that less wick sticks out.
  5. I'm sure it's all natural coconut wax, and when it lights it melts nicely, I'm trying to upload a picture of the burn but the file is too big, when my candle is lit 20 minutes in it looks like the top of the candle is melted and the rest is unmelted wax. The candle did smell stronger when I re lit it the second day. My wax melts pretty easily and I think that's a nice touch to my candles it looks really nice when melted, I'll try to upload a photo.
  6. Okay so I made 38 3 oz samples with the 7 flavores I got, the smell is faint but it definitely fills up the whole room, so I'm using all natural coconut wax. And 1 oz frag per 16 oz liquid wax... I pour the 185 degree wax into the 16 oz measuring cup, stir it so its all clear, then I add the fragrance , and dye, and stir it tell it's clear, then pour it in the 3 oz glass to cool. Im thinking I use 1.3 oz of fragrance becuase coconut wax can hold up to 1.6 oz. fragrance . Let me know about your opinions on how to get a strong smelling candle
  7. Sorry I meant I'm pouring it into a little 3 oz glass container, and I'm measuring it with the glass measuring cup to get my 16 oz , I did tho purchase a digital scale, I could start tearing the scale with the glass measuring cup on it and weigh out the wax , why can't I use the 16 ozs on the measuring cup though? Would it make a big difference ?
  8. Okay So, let me start off with how I'm mixing the fragrance first . /// Step one : Heat wax to 185 degrees in wax melter machine. Step two : Pour wax into 16 oz glass measuring cup Step three : mix in 1 oz fragrance and dye until wax is clear and colored Step four : pour mixed wax into votive while still clear. Step five : let dry So that's how I've been doing it so far, but it looks like the wax is sticking to the edges inside, Am i supposed to pour directly over the wick, or from the side of the glass. Please share your pouring tips here thanks.
  9. I know, but the police don't care and I don't and the clinics here sell them so it's all good , weed industry is a big market lol
  10. I currently have coconut wax, CCCP1, from Cal wax, Ive made quite a few candles with them, my fragrance is all expired, because they were donated to me and i have them in 50lb tanks. in a 7oz pour with scent, the burn was clean, the fragrance came out well even though it was expired and when it cooled it gives it a smooth clean finish, coconut wax I was told by the vendor CAL WAX melts at 125 degrees, and the best time to start mixing is at 180 degrees.
  11. Im definitely going to give out those tester questions with my samples, thanks.
  12. I think lone star candles has caution labels that are round and stick on the bottom off the candle or container http://www.lonestarcandlesupply.com/candlemakingaccessories/cautionlabels.html but there shipping prices is ridiculous i hope this helps. you can always search for more on google, but make sure to shop around before choosing one.
  13. EVERYONE I JUST FIGURED I HAD COCONUT WAX!!! Not parraffin ! Its all natural coconut wax! Is that good or what?!
  14. Lol dabs... Okay anyways I have a shipment that should be comming in tomorrow , I'm getting a bunch of 3 oz containers and fragrances and dyes, so I'll make a post in a couple days asking if anyone wants me to ship out some free samples so you guys can let me know what you think . The more feed back the better , thanks. And I talked to my cousin we are gonna have one of the old employees to teach us their process, maybe, I would rather trial and error for my own sense of effort and originality oh!! And the wax company was calwax not Cali wax lol sorry
  15. Yeah you guys are right, I need to also just buy my own wax, see the wax and machines were donated to me by my cousin who owns starbuzz Tabacco, Starbuzz was doing a candle line but they stopped a couple years ago. My other cousin asked my owner of starbuzz cousin for the machines and he said okay. I'll try and contact the vendor to find out what kind of wax it is before I continue using it. Thanks for all your responses all these answers should save me a lot of time and trials. And I have a lot of fragrance and dye comming in from candle science so I should probably find out exactly what kind of paraffin wax I have. But some candle companies when you open the candle the smell is really strong, is this because they wipe a drop of fragrance on the top of the candles? Or their mix is just so on point that the smell comes out strong in the wax.
  16. Thanks for the advice, I found out that I had paraffin wax, and I am familiar with candle science, I ordered a lot of dyes and fragrances to test them out with the wax I had. I also ordered a bunch of the 3 oz votive glass containers, so here's another question. Let's say I heat wax melter to 180 degrees, I pour it into my 16 oz measuring cup, if I mix my scent with the wax directly from the measuring cup will it still be effective ? The wax is still clear after I mix the scent too. My wax is from Cali wax. Now 1oz frag to 1lb wax, would that generate a strong smell to fill up a whole room? The candles I made so far work, they do smell good, but I just feel like the smell isn't strong enough. Are scented candles supposed to have a strong scent ?
  17. So people prefer soy wax over all the other kinds?
  18. So as I mentioned in my introduction, Im getting into the candle manufacturing business and I have equipment capable of making 500+ candles an hour. I dont know what kind of wax I have but I would love to explain its properties and I have a lot of it. SO it came in a 50lb bag, and its white and its easy to squeeze, It cools into a nice smooth finish almost 100% of the time and I have to use a good amount of fragrance to get the scent out, maybe like (1/2oz frag for 4oz of wax) the burn time is long. I have a feeling its paraffin wax but I dont know. Also I would like to know whats the most effective wax for container candles and the best for scented ones. I would love to ship out free samples to all so they can try out my finished product and spread my name. feel free to comment your responses , thank you
