  1. I'm just curious if I can use 75 gauge polyolefin bags to shrink wrap wax melts? I use a softer wax and I have a big mess on the inside of the bags after one time at a craft show. Will it steal the scent out and do they make it in rolls? Thanks!
  2. Does anyone do cut wine bottle candles? My husband and I have been working on it for over a year. I'm afraid that the integrity of the glass is compromised so I haven't sold any. Everyone I know saves bottles for me so I feel bad (have hundreds) Any thoughts or input on safety issues? Thanks
  3. Does anyone that uses soy wax have any favorite FOs from Just Scent? I've heard mixed reviews and thought I'd ask the experts. They have bodacious buys that are very reasonable. Thanks in advance
  4. Moonstar it turned out great. Very interesting combo but my customers seem to like it Epic win this time!
  5. Can anyone tell me the difference between The Candlemaker's Store grade A and B? Also what are some FO recommendations? Thanks
  6. Ended up with cranberry orange biscotti. Lol Actually smells good. I did it once with Grape and Cherry and called it grape cherry slushie. It was summer and people loved it. Go figure Have a great weekend all!
  7. Hi everyone! I was pouring candles and I was going to make some Snickerdoodle (CS) and some Cranberry Marmalade (CS). I had all my bottles sitting out (sample size). I grabbed one of each and mixed (time to check my prescription!). It's not horrible, so does anyone have a name suggestion for this accidental concoction? Or should I call it "Accidental Concoction" LOL

  10. Hey everyone. I have a customer requesting a butter rum scented candle. They also requested Black Cherry. Can anyone suggest a good choice for either or both of these? I use 464. I've used regular Cherry Cobbler but all the Black Cherry I've tried smelled awful. Thanks in advance
  11. Hello lovely ladies and gentlemen! I really need some advice about fragrance loads. I have searched this site and no post really answers my questions so I apologize if this is repetitive. I have little mason jars that hold exactly 6.6 ounces each. I want to use 8% fragrance load. I don't want to add back the oil weight but I want it to come out to 6.6 ounces exactly with the 8% load. I can figure out 8% but I'm not sure how to make the whole thing only 6.6 oz. Any suggestions or formulas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  12. Hello everyone! I have an issue that I hope you can help me solve. I am testing IGI 6006 in 8 oz tin with CD 12. The burn is great with no sooting, no mushrooming (a little hangup on sides but just a bit after 3 burns over 3 hrs) and throw is great. The problem is the wick is straight when I start testing but once the melt pool starts, the wick creeps over so it's not in the middle anymore (so when I relight it the next day, I'm starting off center). I have no way to post a pic but I have 3- 8 oz mason jars that I tested and it happened in them too. Could burning on an unlevel surface be a factor? Help!
  13. I am trying to create a good pillar blend and container blend using the waxes my local supplier carries. I was thinking 4627 & 464 might work well together for containers. 70/30 or 60/40 4627 heavy? I've heard 4627 is quite messy (that's ok) but I'm wondering if it will require second pour with 464 included? Heard HT and CT for 4627 is awesome. Any thoughts?
  14. Thanks Trappeur. I appreciate the feedback.
  15. What can I put on a soy candle label? I use 464. I'm guessing that it isn't 100% soy, correct? Is it considered natural? Any suggestions would be appreciated. tia
  16. Moonshine, I'm a theme girl too. The candle name is in French so maybe creme brulee? lol Thanks!
  17. Can anyone recommend good FOs for upcycled wine bottle candles? I use 464 and I've tried a Merlot and not impressed. In your opinion, does it matter if it doesn't have wine smells or is that part of the ambience? Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
  18. Has anyone tried RE's Raspberry Tomato Leaf. I have lady that requested it (special circumstances) but the minimum order is $15 and the shipping is $15. The person that used to make this for her used paraffin wax so I'm not sure if it will work well in soy. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
  19. Thanks again everyone. As always, this was very helpful. Have a great week! Oh and Candybee just wanted to say I love your profile pic. I have always loved cardinals. I had 8 cardinal couples at my bird feeder on Valentine's Day (at once) just after it snowed. Told my husband they had to take their wives out to dinner
  20. I am wondering if very fine glitter made for candles is ok or just plain crazy? I just got a newsletter email from Bitter Creek encouraging me to add glitter to the top of my candles. Is it safe or a big chance? What about a small amount of cinnamon sprinkled on top? Advice is appreciated. Thanks
  21. Thanks Belinda. Your suggestions are exactly what I'm looking for and I appreciate the suggestions.
  22. Hello all! I use GW 464 and I'm looking for a knock your socks off plain vanilla FO. Any suggestions? Thanx in advance
  23. Thanks kandlekrazy. There is tons of other stuff too like pillar molds, glass containers, roasters, wicks, etc. I'm just afraid they want to sell the whole lot and won't split it up. If the FOs are probably gonna be bad then it might not be worth it.
  24. Here's my story--I went to the county recorder's office today to file my business paperwork. The lady working there stops me in the hall on the way out and tells me her Mom was a chandler. The Mom had to go in a nursing home due to a brain tumor. The lady said all her Mom's candlemaking stuff has been sitting in a barn for a couple of years. We're talking drums of FO and wax. She wants me to buy the whole lot so her Dad can have his barn storage back and so her Mom's stuff will go to a good home. Will the FOs be ruined since they've been exposed to temp changes (extreme Indiana hot/cold)? Any advice is appreciated
  25. Candybee you've probably heard this a thousand times, but those palm candles are absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful colors and the labels are fabulous too.
