  1. I’m making lip balms and am curious if anyone else adds a preservative or if it’s not necessary? My recipe has beeswax, coconut oil and shea butter. Thanks.
  2. I haven’t made candles since 2019 due to illness. I’m able to get back into it now so I bought FO from Candlescience and their new clean scent for baby powder is a completely different scent than before before. Can anyone speak to how caramelized pralines, Hansel & Gretels house, Macintosh Apple, clean cotton, smoke and odor eliminator measure up in the new formulation compared to the old? Thanks 😊
  3. Thank you @TallTayl. I was concerned with the heat possibilities of a vessel like this. Maybe I’ll order a couple cans and give it a go since they’re so adorable. 😊
  4. Has anyone used the mini paint cans for candlemaking with success? I saw the cutest paint can candles in Tractor Supply yesterday and would love, love to make some for the Farmer's Market this year. I'm wondering if they are safe if well tested and where I can source ones that won't leak or rust (or is that inevitable?).
  5. @Belindathanks so much for the input. I was thinking about getting Hansel & Gretel's house. I used to love CS version but I don't like it as much since their reformulations. Have you ever tried the CS one?
  6. I'm getting ready to order a bunch of samples from Nature's Garden. I have used a ton of their fragrances and have always been happy. I'm hoping to try some new scents and get out of my comfort zone. What's everyone's favorite/can't live without Nature's Garden scents? Here's a list of my faves: Funnel Cake Saltwater Taffy Apple Cinnamon Cinnamon Buns Mrs Claus Cookies Aqua Di Gio Hot Apple Pie Baby Powder Sweet Orange Chili Pepper Black Raspberry Vanilla
  7. Thanks for the input @TallTayland @bfroberts and it’s greatly appreciated. I looked at wood wick pricing and that was also a definite reason to stick with regular wicks. 😊
  8. For those of you that have used both wood and regular wicks, which do you prefer? And why?
  9. Hello all. I’m curious if any of you use Indiana Candle Supply (ICS) or Millcreek FO? What are your favorites from them? I’m thinking of ordering some samples. Thanks.
  10. I was very hesitant about the dough bowls for the exact reason you all have confirmed. I will only be using wood dough bowls to keep the fire going on these cold nights. 😂😂. Thanks for the input.
  11. I'm just curious what everyone's thoughts are on the dough bowl candle craze? I see them constantly and they are so darn cute but they seem like a fire hazard. People in some Facebook groups claim to add a fire retardant that prevents them from burning. Has anyone used them with success? Also, what's your thoughts on coffee mugs from Dollar Tree or those cute little ceramic containers shaped little a mini bread pan with Christmas decor on the outside (Big Lots or Dollar General)?
  12. I'm curious if anyone has any idea what the percentages of paraffin and coconut are in this wax? I searched all over and found nothing about the blend percentages. I'm thinking of trying it out since my local supplier has it available and I'm ready to move on from 464. I'm hoping it's more coco and less para but guessing that's not the case. Thanks!
  13. Another vote for Midwest's sweater weather here! I think Nature's Garden has very reasonable shipping costs and they're located in NE Ohio. They also allow pickup if you're within driving distance.
  14. I’m thinking of blending 464 with 4630 for the (hopefully) perfect parasoy. Perhaps 52% 464 and 48% 4630. Does anyone have any wick suggestions for this type of blend? I use 9 oz straight sided and 16 oz canning jars. Thanks and have a great day!
  15. Thanks StanfordP. Sorry you had a bad experience. I decided against it and from what you said--glad I didn't do it.
  16. Thank you TallTayl. I appreciate this forum so much because I know I can come here and get an educated response. Thanks to you and all the others that keep it going for us to come and learn about candles, etc.
  17. This may be a dumb question but… if you want to add FO to wax at a 10% ratio that would be 1.6 oz of FO per pound. Now at this point do you add the 1.6 oz of FO to the full pound of wax or do I subtract 1.6 oz of wax from the pound and then add the FO in its place to make a full pound?
  18. Can anyone recommend wick options for the 9 oz straight sided jar using IGI 6006? I have been a soy girl for many years and finally taking the plunge into parasoy. The wicking looks like much smaller wicks are needed. In soy, I’d use an eco 10 in that jar but Candlescience says eco 4.
  19. Does anyone have a scent twin to Peak Cinnaberries? I just adore that scent and the first I poured when I started making candles. I know Keystone has it but it has been out of stock for a while now. Sniff, sniff…
  20. Has anyone here purchased candle jars from overseas via Alibaba? If you have, what’s the good, the bad and the ugly please? I know it’s always best to buy USA made but the particular jar I want has no USA suppliers that I can find. Thanks
  21. The Candlemakers Store has them. Black, silver or gold lid options. Cincinnati, OH
  22. I love Bitter Creek FOs. What are your favorites? Also, what is their best cinnamon scent? I'm talking stay on your clothes, old school candle shop, cinnamon broom at Christmas strong cinnamon/spices scent. Thanks!
  23. Can anyone recommend a cost effective way to ship small orders like one or 2 clamshells (even just one)? One candle? How does everyone handle it? USPS can just be so brutal on packages and I'd like to get items to their destination unscathed. Small boxes seem to cost so much to buy and extra cushioning inside is needed with them more cost). Suggestions are appreciated.
  24. I use 464 and love it. As everyone else said, wet spots are par for the course. Sometimes your label can cover it. One thing you want to watch is making sure your wicks are centered. Its super important for an even burn. Great job!
  25. I use CS Smoke & Odor Eliminator and think it works great. My question is does anyone mix this with other scents to make more scent options? Also, does it have the same great odor eliminating power if mixed? Thanks
