  1. I think I have been checking her site about once an hour today to see what the new sale will be for this week.... she has done it again! I am going to go into the pour house- but I will smell good! her sample packs are $10 for 10 1 oz samples!!!!!! (with no limit on this) 5 new scent that sound devine!!!!!!!!! $1.00 off bottles that are not on sale. And about 25 new scents added to the already huge list of summer sidewalk sale oils. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! I am going to have fun this week w/ this sale! edited to say- this is for Just Scent.
  2. Thanks everyone! Sorry about not searching first.... The powdered dye that I had been using required only a little little bit to get a good deep red. I use the pinch, dash, smidgen spoons for my powder and it only took the middle one per pound of wax to get a vibrant red. No mixing colors needed. Thanks everyone- if I ever find out what the powder was that I got, I will let you know
  3. I am getting really good reviews on my Coconut Milk and Peaches (test tarts)- but I keep hearing "would like to smell more peach and less coconut). My sample right now is from FOH. Any good recs. for this scent that is heavier on the peaches?
  4. I noticed that Becky from JS is now carring this scent along with The Scent Works. I have never smelled the original, so I am wondering if anyone can give some feedback on this scent. Thanks!!!!!
  5. OH BOY!!!!!! This is driving distance for me!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for posting this!
  6. I used a wonderful powdered dye and got a perfect red color- not pink at all.... pure red! BUT- it was a local place that I got my powdered dyes from and they have gone out of business. I have switched over to liquid dyes now and am happy w/ them except for the red. I cannot find a good pure red dye like I got w/ my powder. I don't mind using powder if that is what it takes to get that color.... liquid would be nice, but I am flexible Do you know of a good supplier that has a true red dye- either liquid or powder?
  7. I totally agree! I love her Buttercream Crunch! MMMMM!!!!!! Thanks for the review on BCN!
  8. I am looking for a super strong buttercream in soy wax. I have tried a few samples, and so far NG is the best. Who do you recommend for this scent? Thanks!
  9. I am with you- I ones I tried from NG just didn't do well for me in soy tarts. AND it stinks becuase I LOVED the OOB smell of about 20 of them! I would love to see what others have to say about this.
  10. Oh- I have been searching, posting, emailing, testing, testing, testing! LOL It just figures that after months of getting only a few orders, suddenly I get this rush of new orders and customers. I don't want to lose them by not getting their orders to them in good time... but I also don't want to risk giving them a wax that I don't know how it will hold up after a month.
  11. I am ready to cry. My wax... my beloved wax isn't working anymore. I only make tarts- so it is not a wicking problem. Something is going on, despite all of my testing... and my tarts are cracking. I have been in touch with the company... I got a different type of wax and am also trying a new source for my wax. BUT of course- my orders are pouring in like crazy! I have not had a chance to do long term testing of the wax that is currently "working" for me. So, right now, I know it looks good after a few days and so far the scent throw is good. But, I don't know how it will hold up long term. How di I fill all of these orders using this new wax? Should I tell them and say that if you are not happy with it to email me. I need some advice.
  12. Ok- I am having a talk with a customer/friend who is look at getting a tart warmer. I have run into something that I am confused about. I thought that electric tart warmers used a bulb as their heat source. These bulbs have different heat temps. depending on their wattage. But- she found a sight that said, don't get an electric warmer that uses a bulb, but rather get one that uses a heating element. Does anyone know about this? What is the difference?
  13. I would in a HEART BEAT.... but the molds are heart shaped and I have not been able to find them in metal. (notice I am back on here reading instead of washing!!!)
  14. I should be washing my molds right now.... but I am posting here so I can put it off for a few more minutes! LOL I use plastic tart molds.... and there is no easy way to clean them. I tried the warm oven, but it just melted the molds. I have to dunk them in a pot of hot water, wipe out the wax.... then wash them using extra hot saopy water. It takes forever to get the wax out of the little crevices. Anyone want to come over and wash my molds for me? PLEASE!!! LOL If it wastn't for the whole "wax clogging the drain" thing- these puppies would SOOO be in the dishwasher!
  15. Welllll... I know it isn't "exactly" a temp controlled area (my kitchen LOL).... but I do have a huge thermometer that I always check to make sure. Hmmmm.... I am going to have to ty something here....
  16. 100% soy from MillCreek. I have had this trouble with 2 different batches of wax (unless they are both from ONE big batch they have there) I just got an email back from them, and they are saying that the outdoor temp. is most likely the cause of the cracking. I am a little confused about that one... There was no mention of why I am getting terrible (and I mean terrible) wet spots when I didn't before. Was there a thread on here about cracking and a bad batch? I tried to search before I posted- but I didn't find anything. I would like to read what is going on with others in the same boat. AHHHHH!!!! So mny orders to make and all of the ones I did this morning are trash.
  17. Oh boy!!! This stinks... the results that I have been getting from my wax are getting worse and worse. Cracking that is unfixable and terrible wet spots. Tried everything I can think of with pour temps, heat of the room, adjusted the BW... I don't unerstand it! For months and months and months... I had perfect tarts! Now, every single one of them is cracking. It started out with the wet spots.... and now almost every thing I pour cracks. How can my perfect wax turn into this? (It is fresh wax- I have been ordering through this company for a while and go through a box of wax a month). I just emailed the company and am hoping that they can tell me what the heck I can do.... Any advice on a place to try?
  18. I KNOW! I just posted about "joinging the big guys".... I am really scared to wick something! LOL
  19. The highest I ever go with FO is 1.5 oz per 1 lb. soy and then the additional BW. with my stornger oils, I can get away with .75 - 1.0. I used to have the percentages all written down- but now I just go by weight. I can never remember that formula to figure out the %. (yep- they are tart molds I tested this on)
  20. I know there are a few of us on here that use MC soy. I have been having problems with jump lines, cracking, and ugly tops. so... it was time to do another test. This REALLY surprised me. (this was with tarts... so no wick) batch #1- 2 oz. bw to 1 lb. soy batch #2- 1 oz. bw to 1 lb. soy batch #3- 1/2 oz. bw to 1 lb. soy each had equal amounts of coloring and FO (Iused pink sugar becuase I had some extra around) I poured each batch hot (161 F) then cold (right when it got slushy around 115-110 F) Batch 1- hot= perfect! No cracking, no wet spots, no sinking, very smooth top. Dull top, no shine. Batch 1- cold= no cracking, small but noticable spots. no sinking, still no shine. Batch 2-hot= terrible sink holes with cracking. No wet spots. Tops had a nice shine to them. Batch 2- cold= exactly the same as when poured hot. Batch 3-hot = sinking with a little bit of craking. No wet spots. VERY nice shinny top. Batch 3-cold = looks the same as when poured hot. i will have to do another test using a different oil. But- so far it looks like batch 1 hot worked the best for me. I would like to have that shine on top... but, I would rather NOT have cracking and sink holes LOL I am also going to lets these cure and then do a scent throw test. I post once I get the results from that. If I can get our camera working, I will try to post a pic. Anyone else want to share what they pour MC at?
  21. It is time that I join you candle makers. I have only made tarts becuase I was nervous about actually trying to wick something. But- I feel it is time. The little tart maker wants to join the big guys and try to make a candle. (AAAHHHH!!!) I currently use MillCreek soy wax (container) and bw. I am thinking that for a container candle, I would not need the bw. Can you recommend an easy style jar for me to work with? And possibly a wick size(s) that I should get to go along with that size. I am thinking that I will also need those wick sticky things. Any other supplies that I am missing that you feel are really helpful for a newbie. Oh man- I cannot believe that I am thinking of doing this! LOL A whole new round of testing! :undecided
  22. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the lotions. The only bad thing is that they are more expensive than a lot of other ones out there. but they really do feel fantastic! Fantastic silky slip to both of them. The sugar scrub was ok. I am biased becuase i like an emusified scrub better. It did a nice job.....though. I would say get samples of them. Even if you decide that the bases are not what you are looking for in your line- you will still love using them.
  23. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thank you!!!! Now I feel silly! I KNEW I had to be doing something WAY wrong! LOL
  24. I am not sure of my math... but something doesn't seem right! Using an average of $16 a gallon for product (pre-made base). This equals out to 4, 4 oz. bottles. Selling these at $4-5 a bottle... once you add in the cost of bottles, lables, FO, and coloring... ummm- it seems like you are losing money???? What am I doing wrong- or is it really this bad if you go with pre-made bases?
  25. Where is that blushing smile face- :embarasse :embarasse :embarasse Good lord- I figured out my problem with the wet spots (aka- brainy, jump lines, honeycombs, etc) I am almost ashamed to post this... but mybe someone can learn from my mistake. My math was all wrong! I was adding 2 oz. of BW to 1 lb. soy!!!! Wooopppsss!!!!!!! No wonder things were not going the right way! I can totallt see the progression of my error... and know what I did to come up with these numbers. All I have to say is "thank you archives" that made me go back and look at my %. So- my advice- check your math!
