  1. I put the jar in some simmering water and melt the way you would with a double boiler. I then pour out the wax, into a can or milk carton, and toss into the trash. Wipe out with paper towel.
  2. Candlescience has a faceted jar in 8oz and 10oz sizes. Not exactly the same as your picture but pretty close. http://www.candlescience.com/site/shop/containers/glassware/hex-jelly-jars.php HTH!
  3. I have been playing a bit with some palm wax samples that I got. It has been recommended to pour this wax at about 175-185F. So, my question is, if I use a FO with a low flash point, will I lose the scent by adding it into wax that is hotter than the flash point? Thanks!
  4. I'm playing with palm wax right now as well. Wicking is definitely more challenging than with soy or soy blend waxes. I can't seem to get the sides to melt down either. But, maybe they aren't supposed to. I find it beautiful as the candle burns down because the crystals glow.
  5. Good to know... but sorry they did that to you. I wonder if they realize that with the people on this board, bad customer service review will affect their sales substantially, not just this one sale. Glad you posted it. Hope it is resolved soon and without problems!
  6. I agree with citrus...I have a scrub that is Satsuma Mint and it smells fab! And, vanilla.
  7. That is weird, do you pay tax on stamps at the post office? My understanding is that postage is a service, not an item that you are selling. If you go to the car dealership, they charge tax on the parts that you buy but not on the labor since it is a service. My understanding is that sales tax is for items within the state that you are located. Out of state transactions are not eligible for state sales tax. Some states will incorporate out of state transactions in their income tax forms (I know that Idaho does this...where if I live in Idaho and purchase something online from out of state, they ask you to report and pay the sales tax to them). But I guess your state is trying to get income from whatever they can! Doesn't seem right.
  8. Very nice...great idea. The can candle, is it meant to be burned and if so how do you wick it?
  9. Just got my Harbor Freight newsletter and heat guns have been reduced to $9.99! I just bought this exact gun a couple of weeks ago for $19.99. It has two heat settings and is very nice. HTH!
  10. Where can I get this FO!! I gotta get me some!
  11. I used some of the premier 700's as well in my IGI 4630 (soy/parafin blend) and I noticed some smoke as well. I would like to know the answer as well...I just ordered some sample wicks so I can play with different types and see if I do any better with them (LX, CD)
  12. I believe it is www.wickit.net or www.wicknclip.com I am testing the samples that I got myself!
  13. There is someone selling bear accessories in the classifieds...I think I saw baseball caps. HTH, and I think they are all adorable!
  14. Love those candles...great color and look. Great job!
  15. Nothing wrong with getting paid by someone else to take candle orders, right? I wish I could do that..I get a pretty decent hourly wage!
  16. Well, a plantain is not an herb, it is a banana. It is starcher and larger than the banana that you eat. Cubans and Puerto Ricans fry these bad boys up and boy are they yummy! (My mom is cuban so I grew up on them and now my DD and DH love them) Do you use the peels (like in african black soap)? I don't know anything about making soap, but hope to try it out in later months...maybe when it is warmer outside. I love all the soaps here...you guys are my heros!
  17. I would just love to have a basement. When I was a kid, we lived in New York and we had a great basement It would have been perfect for me for my candles and there would have still been plenty of room. When I lived in Idaho, I had an unfinished basement but it had plenty of lighting but it was pretty damn cold there. I spent a lot of time there when it got hot but hardly ever went down in winter. It would have cost me a fortune to heat it! Ahh, I should talk DH into moving somewhere where they have basements!
  18. I have one on the way and I have dripped lots of FO on my current kitchen scale which is inside a ziplock bag. I don't like it that way. I can't wait to get this scale!
  19. I will have to try that combo out as well! I love both scents separately.
  20. I have a hand scrub that is Satsuma Mint (but I am not sure if it is peppermint) which smells awesome! So try orange or tangerine if you have it!
  21. I was at the health store today buying some stuff and sniffed the coolest candles with essential oils. They each had a different theme (sensual, calming, etc). Some of the combo smelled soooo good. Then I saw what they charge for different essential oils! So, has anyone experimented with all essential oil candles for aromatherapy? Thanks!
  22. Well, I got my Peaks container kit this past week so today I played with it. I made 3 candles in the tins that I got in my kit. Those are in the bottom row. They are (left to right): warm apple pie, fresh linen and cinnamon. The top row is some samples that I got. I used 2 small jelly jars (4 oz) and a half pint jar. Those are (left to right) pineapple (I think it came out a bit lighter than I wanted), love spell, and dewberry. I had lots of fun! So did my DD, almost 16, who helped me!
  23. It is a very good dupe. I can identify this scent if someone is wearing it, so I can say this smells dead on. I just poured a container with my free sample from Peaks.
