  1. Wow, I had no idea about the cross allergies. That is really good to know! I'll have to look into that more. Thanks!
  2. Oh bummer....I was hoping it would scent the soap but I guess it makes sense. I use lavender flowers in my lavender oatmeal soap and although the flowers smell wonderful it isn't as strong as the EO. Thanks for letting me know Candybee.
  3. Thanks, Shar. I did notice other's comments about the discoloration as well.
  4. Ok, good to know. I'll have to look into the benefits. I've just been looking at different ideas to try and this is one I've seen.
  5. I'd like to try a stab at making some chamomile soap but the EO is really expensive. I've seen mention of doing either a chamomile tea in place of water or an oil infusion using chamomile tea. Do any of you do this? Any guidance on how to figure out how many tea bags to use? In reading about it, it sounds like it's a toss up between the two methods and I haven't really seen a majority pick one way over another. Thanks
  6. I guess I never thought of mine as an inspirational notebook but it sounds like what you have I put future ideas for scents, colors; recipes I want to try and what items I need to restock on. When I first started the notebook I also wrote down my recipes and notes but my handwriting is so sloppy I had a hard time reading it...LOL. So I started doing the recipes and notes on the computer. Good idea to have it with you to jot stuff down as you think of it or as people give you ideas. I'll have to try and remember to do that.
  7. Sounds awesome! I need to get soaping too. Where do you get your bubble gum FO from? Is it something you offer year round?
  8. Thanks. It went well so we are going to do a local craft show next month! Excited and nervous thinking about people we don't know buying our product Hopefully they love it too. I ended up going with a craft paper band this time but I also like the idea of the treat bags. Would be less work
  9. Great ideas! The paper would work and sounds pretty easy. I don't have time for the envelope idea but I will definitely think about trying that one in the future. I don't think I've seen that before so it's a unique touch. Thanks!
  10. We are going to have an open house to see what kind of feedback and interest we can get on our candles and soap before we start doing shows, etc. I would like to give out some soap samples but don't want to give away whole bars. Questions: 1. What size is a good sample size for soap? 2. What do you package the samples in? I'm using kraft boxes for full sized bars but I'd prefer not to waste those on samples. I thought about ziplock baggies or wrapping them in wax paper but maybe that's tacky? Thanks for any input!
  11. Awesome, thank you! I love the fun touches of gllitter
  12. Wow, these are amazing! Nice job. Definitely something to aspire to
  13. I am just starting to work on swirling, too and have tried the bamboo skewers. It looks like such an easy thing to do but haven't had a ton of luck. Once I master getting the right consistency of soap I'm sure it will be easier. I'm used to having a nice trace when I soap but I guess I have to get over that Will definitely have to try the hanger and spoon ideas! I would love to see the video.
