Simple Soothings' http://simplesoothings.com/fastbuy/ Chamomile Pear is fantastic in soap and tarts. I haven't yet used it in candles so I can't help you there. Leslie does fastbuys every couple of months or so, and every oil I've gotten from her is wonderful!

What are these companies website address'?
Chauna

Carol,
Do tell; who is the "nifty little place in PA?"
-
I don't know which are the most popular, but my 15 yo son will only use Touch.
-
I emailed Wendy, but I want to bo "on the list" here as well. I've been hearing about this VBN for so long, I can't believe I'm actually going to be able to get some!
-
Jenny, I don't think the "replace with 1" is going to work I would second a blueberry muffin type and Peak's is very good in soy. If you're looking for a cookie scent, Bluegrass Oatmeal Raisin is delish! I'm also glad to hear the reviews on Berry Bundt Cake! I just ordered a lb of that in the prebuy.
-
Welcome Wendy! Please do let use know how to get in on the next pre-buy, expecially if it includes the VBN!!

So let me see if I have this correct e... I can mix up 128 ounce of water with 51.5 ounce of lye (or whatever amount using the calc.) and be able to use the standard water amount in my base recipe? If it's calling for 12.80 ounces of water and so much lye, I can just use the premix?
I'm having a real blonde moment with this for some reason.
I'm with you! I master batch my oils, which I love but I jast can't get the lye thing. It seems to me that the 12.8 in your example would be correct but I could certainly be wrong!
PS. LOVE your itty, bitty candle!! :highfive: I haven't burned it yet but I'll let you know when I do. The cold throw is great and it's so cute! Thanks!!

When I first started making soap I did HP because I couldn't imagine waiting another 4 weeks to see if it really worked, lol. For that I used 12" peices of PVC downspout from Lowe's. (you could use that for CP as well, just be sure one end is sealed very well with plastic wrap and duct tape) By the time I decided to try CP, I had bought wooden molds. There are lots of things you can use though. Rubbermaid drawer inserts/separaters from the supermarket work well. I use the square ones for test batches. I even use the bottom of half-gallon plastic milk cartons to make very small, highly colored batches. I then shave those down and add the shavings to an uncolored batch to make it more interesting.
There are many things that you can use for a mold today rather than waiting to order one. Good luck with your CP!!

Hi Denise,
Since Jason has previously informed me that he is not a "wick person", I thought I'd let you know what I have found out so far.....the self-trimming types of wicks DO NOT work well w/this wax. I do however, have good luck w/the LX's, but only w/my smaller jars (1.5oz and 4oz). I am going to test my RRD's, 'cause that is what I have here. I know that someone else on here had mentioned CD's or Cotton/Paper core wicks.
HTH
Hi Sheri,
and thanks for the info. I do have CDs and cotton core so I'll try them when my wax gets here. I usually use the HTPs in my KY PB, but I'd like to be able to offer a 100% soy candle.
Thanks again!

Very pretty soap! :highfive:
I too just got SW Yuzu (along with 9 other scents during their vacation sale ) I can't wait to get back to soaping and the Yuzu will be one of my first batches. Maybe I'll even try layering now that Brenda has kindly posted her tutorial!

It sounds like you have too big of a wick and you are burning the wax too fast. Try a smaller wick.
jason
Hi Jason,
I've read through all the testing threads and if I missed this info, I apologize. What are the manufacturers recommended wicks for this wax? Are there any?
Thanks!!

Thanks for the info; that's what I wanted to hear!

Amish Country Candles and Supplies
Lancaster County, Pa.
717-684-3922
Has anyone ordered from this place? They are close enough for me to drive to and I would like to try the 464. I know the site is not up yet so I emailed Connie using the email she has listed in her profile here but it came back as undeliverable. I can call on Monday but I'd like to get some feedback on the supplier first...

ewww...why would you want a soap to smell like campfire smoke???? I always take at least 2 showers and wash EVERYTHING after we come back from camping because the smell is nauseating!
No accounting for taste, LOL! At a family party on Sunday, one of my cousins mentioned that he loves the smell of campfires. We had already been discussing my soap so he asked if I could do one like that for him. I do like that campfire smell, but only fresh - not that awful stale smell that sticks to everything when you get home. That is bad!
Thanks for all the suggestions. I guess I'll try Peak's and I still may try SC.
-
I need a strong, true campfire scent for CP. I know SC carries Woodsmoke but I'm wondering if this is a fireplace scent or really a campfire. Has anyone soaped this? Any other recommendations?
Thanks!!
-
You've definitely got some flame action going on! My 15 yo son would love those. Where did you get the AXE fo?
-
Dee, I think Sherie got that version and she was estatic. We wish we had it too, but I'm asking for it for Christmas lol.
That's a good Christmas present! I'm thinking more of a Labor Day present for me though... I'm sure I read that LD is quickly becoming one of the largest gift-giving holidays of the year :rolleyes2

Does anyone use the pro version? If so, are you happy with the inventory control features, of do you have a better alternative?
Thanks!

All of them are very nice, but I like the Clean best! :highfive:

Very pretty! The colors are nice and soft but not too light.
Color in lotion bars?
in Bath, Body & Cosmetics
Posted
I know I read somewhere about using jojoba spheres to color lotion bars but can't find the reference. I use hemp seed oil in my bars which tints them a greenish color. Does anyone have suggestions on how much of the jojoba spheres and/or if I'll be able to counteract the green from the hemp?
Thanks :smiley2:
