  1. Moonworks oils will be available at http://purefragranceoils.com.
  2. This http://www.sks-bottle.com/340c/fin77c.html is by far the easiest way to fill lip balm tubes! I have two and would never bother with any other method now.
  3. Thanks very much everyone! I thought they must be the same but wanted to try and verify.
  4. Thanks Jeanie. I know she had a Christmas Pear. I just don't remember if it was called "Spiced" Christmas Pear.
  5. Does anyone know if Bert had a Christmas Pear AND a Spiced Christmas Pear or where they the same oil? I always called the finished product Christmas Pear; that's also what I have on my inventory sheets. I have the opportunity to buy a lb of Spiced Christmas Pear but need to know if they're the same thing. TIA
  6. Thanks for the info. Knowing which ones don't work is almost as important as knowing the one's that do. I'll look forward to seeing the rest of your list.
  7. I have never ordered from NG and really don't need another supplier but...I can't resist any longer. I have been reading mindyw86's thread with much interest and have a few of those FOs in my cart already. The suggestions in that thread are for good FOs for candles, and while I make candles as well, I'd like to hear from soapers, though. What have you found that works well in soap, especially CP? TIA:smiley2:
  8. Here is the video from a French soaper's blog "soapsession"
  9. There is a sticky at the top of this section of the board with supplier abbreviations and links http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?5492-Supplier-Abbreviations-and-Links
  10. I hadn't placed an order for FO's from anywhere in quite a while so ... I went a little overboard :rolleyes2 I got: Bayberry Buttermint Candies Caramel Apple Cinnamon Balsam Cranberry Apple Marmalade French Vanilla Gingerbread Cookies Grandma's Swingin' Eggnog Home for the Holidays Hot Cocoa Purely Peppermint Pumpkin Souffle Red Currant Spiced Cranberry Spruce Christmas Tree Sugar Cookie Sweet Pumpkin Spice Vanilla Hazlenut Vanilla Mint Warm Apple Pie Winter Wonderland Some I have used before and got lbs of but quite a few are new ones to me so I got 8 or 4 ozs. I can't wait to start some fall/Christmas soaping!
  11. I'm mainly a soap and B&B maker, although I'm going to start playing around with wax again. In my soap etc, I use FO's from Peak, Candlescience and Bert's, companies that I consider "candle" suppliers and others that I think of as "soap" suppliers - The Scent Works, Sweetcakes, Brambleberry, Tony's and Flickers/Moonworks. Most FO suppliers have information about performance in both applications but I do think that some places seem to specialize more in one application than the other. I also can't imagine putting some of the more expensive oils in wax! I'll keep them for soap or lotion.
  12. Hi Nancy, Both of these threads are very helpful in researching additives for M & P: http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?90126-M-amp-P-Recipes http://www.candletech.com/archivedforum/.1395.html Enjoy!
  13. I've never heard of Full Moon either but this http://www.fullmoonherbs.com/ seems to be her existing site; the contact info is the same for both.

  15. Can you provide a link to the page where shea butter is listed as allantoin? I have never, ever heard that anywhere; shea is not an allantoin. As far as labeling to keep "ingredients as secret as possible" that is the exact opposite of what labeling is supposed to do. If a product requires a label with an ingredient list, that list needs to be complete and as clear as possible so the customer knows what she is buying. This page, http://www.fda.gov/Cosmetics/ResourcesForYou/Consumers/CosmeticsQA/ucm136560.htm part of the FDA's website, explains what products are considered cosmetics. There is a wealth of information on the site about labeling requirements. And I certainly wouldn't buy a product that couldn't tell me which essential oils are being used in a "mix of ayurvedic essential oils" even if it was at Whole Foods.
  16. I'm a Peak's BRV user, too, in CP soap, bath bombs, body sprays, candles and tarts. It smells great and works beautifully in all of them! You can't go wrong with this one
  17. Thanks! I use the Wilton brownie pan for cubes; they're about 1.5 inches square. I like your idea of making them smaller, though, since one cube is really too big for one use. edited to add: I think I'll go with the 12 oz size.
  18. I've been trying to decide how best to package my sugar cube scrubs and I'd like to go with plastic bale jars. If anyone uses these for sugar cubes what size do you use? I've found the jars in 7, 12 and 16 oz sizes but I'm having a hard time figuring out how many cubes would fit in each size jar. TIA
  19. Here is the direct link to the tutorial http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73514 All of the tutorials are at this link in the "Tips and FAQ Database and Archive" section http://www.craftserver.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=40 HTH
  20. These are the first pillars you've ever done? You haven't tested them but you're planning to sell them? How long have you been making and selling your jjs? Did you test them before you sold them? For how long? I think you need to step back and reassess. Maybe, with a lot of pouring and testing, you could have some pillars ready to sell in the spring. Maybe...
  21. That's who I use; I'm in PA. They are reasonable and their CS is excellent.
  22. Trudi, I searched and couldn't find anything about any kind of animal testing on any of the raw ingredients that you mentioned. I also can't imagine why any of it would be tested on animals, especially since most of the butters/waxes/oils that we use are intended for incorporation into other products. Hopefully your suppliers can give you more concrete information. The only thing you might want to keep in mind is that while you'll be able to use "cruelty free" in your product description since you're not testing on animals, vegans do not use beeswax. If that becomes an issue you may have to reformulate with candellila or carnuba wax instead. Good luck with the account! Adam, "Terrorist" is not my label. That comes directly from the USDA. Media sources? Gary Yourofsy's quote came from an interview he did. It wasn't a sound bite cobbled together by an unscrupulous journalist. Yourofsky's quote most certainly does represent peta - it is his job to speak for them. I'll continue to "condemn" as you put it, any organization whose agenda is to legislate their beliefs. I'll continue to condemn a group who wants to put an end to my right to train, show, breed or even own my dogs, end farmer's rights to raise animals for food, end the rights of hunters and fishermen - in short end all human interaction with animals. This is the last I'll post in this thread. If you are truly interested, do some research; start with the links I posted earlier and I will be happy to discuss any and all points with you or anyone else in a OT thread.
  23. Sorry for the thread hi-jack! but, like simplybeelightful said, you have to stand up for what's right and hold organizations accountable. Most people assume peta and their H$U$ cronies actually care about animals and want to help them. Most people think their local humane society is funded by H$U$. (They're not. H$U$ doesn't run any shelters. If you want to send money, send it to your local humane society or SPCA.) You don't need a seal of approval to be able to say that your products are cruelty free. Whether a manufacturer of your raw ingredients has used animal testing or not, you didn't test what you made on animals.
