  1. I have someone looking to buy wax in the uk. mostly something very soft like igi 4627...for making scoopables. Any advice would be helpful and appreciated. thank you.
  2. Ok. That makes sense. I have run a great business before I do not know why I am questioning myself... more so based on how someone else runs their business. I think I just worry to much lol.
  3. she sends out 5 to 15 dollars in retail. but with every order. that is going to really eat at your profit. I could see sending maybe 3 1 oz samples but she sends a few full sized products as freebies. So I think that may be a big part of the issue. I know not to do that. But I do see sending a few oz out. so they can try new things or things they have never ordered. I am just happy I am not working with her after all. but I take from all of you that I may be under carrying scents on my list. So I will need to find more to carry. but I think being so new I will stick with just around 50 to 60 for now. Do you all think that is good?
  4. I take it back. It smells amazing. I was not getting throw yesterday so I turned it off. Decided to see if it was just my nose( I am getting over being sick) turned it on today and OMG it is So AMAZING!. so I am totally happy. I never would have gotten here without all of you. Thanks so much. You all ROCK!. now next question...have any of you noticed that Scent shots and clamshells help get stronger throw then chunks and other molded wax melts?
  5. Mine did great. I did peppermint bark brittle and made it look like actual PB. So It sold well.
  6. She Charges $1 per oz approximately. I was supposed to be in business with her so I know how she runs things. That is how I know how much she make and how much she pays out I know what her overhead is...or should be. I did however learn that she gives away about $5 to $15 in free stuff for every order she sends out.She feels this helps her customers to like her more. Is that a normal business practice in the soap and wax worlds? I just worry that what I think should happen and what I think should work as a business model will not work and that how she is doing it is normal and I can't believe people do this and make NO money ever.
  7. is it possible that 5% could lower the hot throw? both of the tester I made with the harder wax has crap scent throw.....
  8. I know this is an old thread and I hope I get some responses.....Has anyone tried Essintial Depots FO'S I was thinking of making an order from them for some soap oils but wanted to try so FO's for wax too.
  9. Ok so I have a question. How many scents do you keep stocked for your lines? I was thinking I wanted 15 or 20 with an extra 5 rotating ones depending on holidays. I was thinking that was good. But my ex BF and Business Partner(or I thought until she slowly pushed me out and screwed me over, long story.) has a stock of 300 scents all are at least 8oz most are at least 1lbs and a some are more. That seems way excessive to me. She is always complaining that she barley breaks even and no one can make a real business out of this. It is just a hobby...She makes melts only no candles and has been doing it for about a year. I have run a very lucrative business before so I get how things work for the most part...the first year is always hard...but is carrying so many oils possibly part of why she makes so little...or am I totally off and am going to have way to little scents? She says she sells about 240lbs of wax a month at least. So when taking everything in to consideration both what needs paid out and what she brings in...If I were running her business I would be making by this point(not in the beginning because you need to build it up) at minimum $2000 a month. Am I missing something? Could it really be just how many random oils she has? Also don't the oils lose scent or go bad after a time if not used? At this point I am happy we are not in business together, but is this what I have to look forward too? almost bring in 4 grand a month and then pay everything out again? It makes no sense. I have never had that much issue running a business. If she were making candles and having to put money in to testing still sure but she pretty much has been selling for about a year now. I do NOT get it.
  10. So it worked. They both pop out...now to see if it still works with the FO in it.
  11. I am now at 21%(harder wax)with my parasoy blend and 25 % with my all paraffin. I hope this works....
  12. I have some wine scents and some chocolate and chocolate raspberry scents and some Rose scents, pink sugar , and some of the sexy scents in both men and women's fragrance dups.
  13. a lot of trial and error. Just read the wax descriptions and buy some tester amounts from peak. see what works best for you. Everyone has a different recipe. and it is sometimes crazy but it is fun to create it.
  14. Well I did heat it up to 180 and throw is amazing now....I am in love with everything I have made even soy has HT after just two days...A lot of HT. I have a 500 sqft room that is totally filled. but the wasxis still to soft to pop out even when frozen. I still have to freeze and then use a skewer and some times dig at it. I would just pour but I do not think customers will be to happy. I am doing another trial right now going up 5 % with a harder wax....again lol.
  15. lol yeah I was trying to use a tooth pick before...you Chandlerwick gave me the idea for the skewer...works great.
  16. the odd thing is that the wax I am using now comes out of scent shot cups and mold amazingly but needs the skewer to release from the warmer after cooled...even when frozen. but yes it has made it more fun. just walking in to the room and smelling it made my whole Christmas. I know now I CAN DO THIS.
  17. All I can say is thank you wonderful people. I heated and added at 185 and it worked. It is still a softer scent then I would like....but it is there. It is all paraffin and set for 24 hours and then tested. and I can smell it across my room. It is apple cinimom and I heard that is a hard scent to get strong...don't know if that is true. I am hoping it is. lol it is not weak or just sitting in one place so I am so happy. Life savers you all are.
  18. I just don't want to compromise great throw for ready cleanup...it Congress out with a little help.
  19. it was 80% 4630 and 20%4625 and it took getting a tooth pick in it to loosen it.
  20. I have noticed a few people say they stir when it gets lumpy or cloudy and that they weight to pour til then too....wont that result in a lumpy product? my wax stays clear til it gets harder and then if you try to pour then you get lumpy tarts.
  21. Thank you all so much for your kind words and support. I did infact try again and added my fo at 185ish however I was not sure if I keep the wax on the heat source to add and mix the fo's or do I remove it? If I remove it it starts to go down pretty fast and has cooled to 160 by the time I am done mixing. if I leave it on the heat source I am fearful I will cook out all the fo....what do I do? lol
  22. Thanks. I really am having a hard time getting it to come out. lol I could change the formula again but I really would hate to keep changing it to make sure it comes out easy and then lose scent. If the scent even works out....that is a whole other topic lol
  23. Ok so how important is it that a wax can be easily pushed or frozen and pushed out of the warmer? I made a blend of 4630, 4627, and 4625(added so it would come out of the warmer after cooling). It took some work. It came out in pieces. If it smells amazing will customers be willing to pour it out instead of cooling and popping out? Do any of you make wax melts that needs to be emptied while still liquid?
  24. Wow that is as great idea...I cut mine with a big chefs knife and pounded the handle with my fist.....it hurt. Lol I like your way.
