  1. I just love this color pattern, it was by mistake that I made one of left overs when I was making a lot of votives yesterday. So I decided to try to replicate it and make them in "Fruit Slices". They smell amazing, they will go into the shop this Friday. Im sure they will sell fast.
  2. Sweet Lemongrass Vanilla BubbleGum Chocolate Cappuccino Lemon Zest Mimosa and Mandarin Working on some other combos too also multi layer votives. I will post a photo later today in the gallery area.
  3. Very small amounts. 18grams will do about 4 large (15cm tall) jars. I buy them from my local shops, just 1 at a time. But this is the supplier here in Australia. http://www.sullivans.net/proddetail.asp?ProdCode=88573
  4. I got the number of a local man who has a small bee farm in his backyard and he offered me 50kg of beeswax at $7 AUD per kg. I took him up on the offer and started cleaning it today. It's gone from old looking golden wax with bits of dead bees and eggs to nice clean golden yellow wax. Mine you... I cleaned the wax outside in the garage as inside the house was full of Soy candles and all the bees come around the pots. In the end there was almost 100 bees swarming around the garage. I had to leave. Thankfully they left when it got dark. I just got back from getting all the wax cleaned and it's amazing. I wish I could work more with this wax. Do you use beeswax?
  5. Yes, that is correct, 2 coats of glue and glitter. When using just 1 coat the wax color seems to soak though and can look odd. So I use 2 coats so its thicker. The inside coat is more sparkly when it's lit too. Im going to do a youtube video how to this week.
  6. I got them from www.rejectshop.com.au - It's an Australian shop. They have a lot of candle jars, cups and of course cheap china candles with almost no scent. But the jars are nice and they get new designs in all the time.
  7. Thanks, the shop has asked for 10 more just like it but in different scents. It's all good
  8. I sell my candles at a local shop on consignment and I went in today with a few candles. It was less then 1 minute of getting out a 3 wick Sweet Lemongrass (aqua candle) candle (600grams) to show the shop owner and a customer smelt it from the other side of the room and she purchased it right on the spot. I love selling candles. Here is a pic.
  9. It's inside the jar. I have been double coating them to make the glitter thicker and sparkly more with the lite.
  10. Thanks for your reply. Because the council is paying for the rent of the shop, there will only be costs like the cash till, efpos (credit card) machine, shelves, tables and of course wax, fragrances etc. Because the shop is on 3 month lease at a time there would not be a big shop, mostly votives, melts and jar candles. So my outlay should be at a minimum, but I can see past that and will add in an extra 50% costs on to of what I think it will cost to run it. My area is a small town but lots of people come past here on tours to other towns. We're like a pitt shop. Still the town has 10,000 people.
  11. Has anyone had a real shop ? I ask because I have just been offered a possible small shop in a local shopping centre. Some shops in my area have been closing and the council is working with a company to refill those shops with local designers, dress makers etc. My candles fit that bill and they would like to see my in one of the small shops. I will be able to make my candles in the shop and also train someone to help me, thankfully paid by the council and Australian government. Is running a real shop worth while? (not online)
  12. I found this to explain PVA glue. "Non toxic - odourless - acid free craft glue that dries clear"
  13. I just received my new tall jars. They hold 540grams of wax. Looking forward to seeing them glitter up. Already have orders for 4 for christmas.
  14. Yes that might have been it. It was sunny and I had the door open, we did have some winds that afternoon too so that might have been it.
  15. I can't imagine making my candle range with just white. There is to be color
  16. No, they are just standing on the table. Both of them, one turned feather - the other one didn't.
  17. Hi, I have been trying to get my palm wax (Feather) pillars together and get some photos for my website but I have run into a small snag. Sometimes they turn out with the "feather" pattern, sometimes they have no feather pattern. I have done them all the same but some to come out different. Anyone got any ideas on this one?
  18. I only test the fragrance with the main color. I tell my clients if they want that color I can do it but there is nothing guaranteed it will be the same as the tested color. Never had a problem with any one of my color candles. All the colors seem to work the same.
  19. I color my wax unless im doing something like Vanilla. BubbleGum = red, Blueberry pancakes = blue, Sweet Lemongrass = yellow/green. I see a lot of companies just doing white and all their jars look exactly the same. I don't want to do that. For some of my local clients I let the choose the color they want with the fragrance. You would not believe how much they love that. I have one lady who had 5 bedroom and each room is a different color theme. But she wanted the same fragrance throughout the entire house. So there is a red, brown, yellow, green and orange candle all in Vanilla in her house. She loves it too.
  20. I thought it would be an issue but no there isn't. I have tested about 20 glitter candles (in all sizes) to make sure there is no issues with fire or plastic burning. The glitter just stays at the top and goes down with the candle wax. It works perfectly.
  21. What percentage of FO are you using per wax? I normally use 5% to 9% depending on the scent strength.
