Please bear with me as a new member! -- I just received my AH/RE sample order and I am so excited! IMO, OOB these scents smell fresh, different, some masculine and several of them seem to have a musky base, which I like...Join with me as I express my total excitement in smelling these fragrances for the first time..Here are some of my favorites:

Fresh Squeezed Oranges

I read on the board about citrus sometimes smelling like fuel when burning, can anyone tell me if this is true on the Fresh Squeezed Oranges and why this might happen?

Can't wait to dump a bottle in wax! Gotta go these cute little bottles are calling me to open them up and smell them again...aaahhhh--I may be here all night... LOL

Pixisprkl, Thanks for your response anyway--I also have some zinc wicks on hand and will try them too...got my work cut out for me.... And BTW good luck in the desert, perhaps lower humidity will be better for your candles, keep me posted...

I bought the same pot but have yet to put the spout on it...thinking maybe it would have been better to buy the one already made....

Old Crab, I am with you when you say you like to see the FMP on the first burn! I appreciate your suggestion on the CD/LX wicks. Lucky for me I already have these wicks on hand!! Will proceed with further testing....

Chef Mom, I will keep in mind your advice on the dark colors and also the CD/LX wicks. It really was a sad little flame Being a first time user of HTP wicks I see what you mean when you say it is a self-trimming wick. The throw was pretty good on both candles so it should be really awesome once the correct wick is identified!! I never thought of filling the jar only half way on a tester first time around, never seen that mentioned on the board either, but very good suggestion—after all who wouldn’t like to save time and $$, right?

Testing 4627 alone for the first time--please take a look at the attached photos and give me your opinions. I read that the HTP wick was the best wick to use for this type of wax. Maybe I shouldn't have added the FO's on the tes but I couldn't help myself! I am also an admitted Frangrance-a-holic awaiting my first order of samples from AH/RE!!

1) Asian Sandlewood/Peak @ 9%. HTP 83 wick. At first the flame seemed perfect, then the flame seemed to be getting smaller --I blew it out so the wick would not drown out. I tried again next day (see pix) and my second burn was for 3 hours and flame still small, melt pool as you can see, not reaching the side of the jar yet. Third burn is still going on, 2 hours, small flame still, melt pool around the same size.

2) Sweet Pumpkin Spice/Peak @ 9%, HTP 73. First burn 4 hours, as you can see in the pictures, this flame appears to be small too, melt pool not reaching the sides of the jar. I am burning now for 2 hours and the flame seems to be larger and stronger.

So what I would like to know is, is it characteristic of this wax to burn this way meaning that on the first or second burn th MP will not reach the jar or should I be wicking up? Will the melt pool grow the more burns that are done?

I also live in ny and get my wicks from Candlewic as well wax and some jars. After reviewing the supplier by state listing/internet I could not find a closer supplier--if anyone uses a supplier closer to the li area please share. I am happy with Candlewic products and customer service--although I wouldn't mind saving a bit on the shipping charges

Can anyone suggest a wick for this jar? I am using 464, 70% and 4627 30%...

Previously I tried Eco 12 and 14 but the flame seems to high, dances and the jar turns a little black. I would be willing to try other wicks but need a starting point. Is it a good idea to even use this type of jar being it is deep? TY

Ok, so when I was in a rush before Christmas fulfilling a last minute order for just one candle (in my kitchen) I put my FO into a plastic bathroom cup (even though that little voice inside of my head said "big mistake" but I convinced myself-- it would be just for a few minutes--!!!) Well you wouldn't believe how fast plastic melts!!!! LOL. The FO leaked on an area on my countertop where I do not prepare my food but the bad news is it seeped into the grout. (Yes, I know I should have covered my countertop, but alas, I was in a hurry...) Even though I LOVE the scent (Peaks' Asian Sandlewood) I was wondering if this ever happened to anyone else and if you could offer me a suggestion on how get rid of the scent..."More hurry, less speed" is how the old saying goes...:undecided TY

My first sales were this past Christmas after about a year and a half of part time testing I finally mixed the 70/30 soy/pf combo which I really like in 12 oz status jars-- sold for $15.00 around work and neighborhood during the season. Subsequently I tried a few palm wax pillars, hard time with wicks-will be doing more research and testing on these. Interested in the mottled look. So I would like to know if there is a special technique where I could use the 70/30 soy/pf combo to get the mottling effect, or do I have to buy mottling wax? Please see a sample of one of the candles I e...did not decorate the ones I sold, just a few that I gave for gifts. Your responses and comments are appreciated!
