  1. My first candle was a Budweiser beer glass, complete with froth in 8th grade art class. Could not get away with that today!
  2. I have been trying to find out what Crossroads uses for wax. Their candles are so pretty, they almost look photoshopped. I work in photoshop, and I noticed that every one of their jars have the exact same light reflection.
  3. I am in So. Cali. but sometimes I eat the shipping so I know I'm getting the best. To your south is "General wax" in Los Angeles. I have not used their wax though. You already know about "Peak". I am not familiar of any up North Ca. way but there is a sticky on the forum for suppliers.
  4. Well, they are officially closed now. Sad way to end what was a great supplier with some wonderful FOs.
  5. Test! Test! Test! your Wicks. For yourself and or for gifts, you must test burn for every different scent, jar and color. I've been addicted to the madness for 16 years now, and I still facepalm on a daily basis.
  6. I used them quite a bit years ago, and never had a problem. When I heard they were closing, I jumped on a couple pounds of Cranberry Crumble FO. It took like a week to process and ship. In my experience working with people. When they know their job is ending some tend to not give a sh** anymore.
  7. I personally love Nature's Garden. Great prices and massive selection.
  8. http://www.fragranceoilfinder.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_40_2444 This should help.
  9. Hi all, BCS is shutting down in June. All ordering will then be done through BCN. Shipping from there to me ( So. Cali) is a joke. I can't live without Cranberry Crumble, but can't seem to find it anywhere else. Does anyone know of a mixture to copy this? TIA
  10. I love the idea of mixing and creating your own signature scent. In my experience although, It seems like when I get an wild hair to experiment I'll do a little of this, some of that, a couple drops of this and my wild hair smells like sweaty scalp. How do you begin to figure your formula so you don't wind up with wa$ted FO:confused:
  11. I think we can all relate to every response posted. But, here are a few of my favorite things... "That smells wonderful" "I love your candles" "My friends ask me where I got this" :smiley2:
  12. Cleaning and testing for sure. Then having great ideas, and not the hands to produce it:sad2:
  13. I taught myself enough Photoshop to do the basics. Purchased a nice label stock and do my own. Saves a lot of money.
  14. When I'm testing wicks I just cut the tab off the wick. If your wick does not work you can warm your candle, and pull your wick out. Then I use a wick pin or a skewer to make a new hole, insert wick (without tab) and test. HTH
  15. My Wife has the patience of a Saint. She can pour the same thing "all day" I'm like a 4yr old on time out...I wanna play with new stuff, I wanna do cupcakes!
  16. Another member of the Choir chiming in. I love playing, experimenting and trying new scents. Then my Wife reminds me that what I'm doing cost money, and that we have orders to fill.
  17. Here is what I do. If You have a digital scale, and you need to. Place your jar on the scale (mine is set to oz.) zero it out. Fill your jar with water, take that weight and multiply it by .8 That should be your wax weight alone. You will have to subtract your FO from that. You don't have to be good at math, that's why we have calculators. I would rather have a little more than less in case of a second pour depending on your wax. Excess can always be used for melts. HTH
  18. I just used 6006 for the first time last weekend in containers ( 8oz Mason, 12oz Status and 11oz frosted) after running out of 4630. maybe I'm doing something wrong. I don't have much of a CT, and the colors came out real pastel. I haven't tested the HT yet. I've never worked with anything but Paraffin before, and I've done tons of reading on 6006 sooooo....I'm confused.
  19. Good Morning all, Maybe we don't speak of them here, but I was cruisin the web and I came across Crossroad's page. They have a unique look to their candles. I've never tried it, but it looks like a smooth uniformed mottle affect. Does anyone know how they achieve that? Or do they have a team of mad Scientist and a ton of money to formulate that look?
  20. I have not ordered in a while from them due to shipping cost (I'm on the west coast) Lemon Chiffon- Great hot and cold throw Georgia Peach- Nice subtle peach Hurricane daiquiri-Had to grow on me but now I love it Pear Glaze-Great scent Vanilla Bourbon- Because to me it smells just like Play-Doh, and I love the smell of Play-Doh
  21. I don't have mine yet so I don't know how good they are, or if you would save this way. General Wax in California has them for about $26.00 for two dozen. Hope this helps
  22. I already have one sampler on hand of some of my favs. What's some of your favs and best sellers please:smiley2:
  23. Thanks for the warm welcome everybody. Prudence, you are in a awesome part of MO. I'm from a "blink and ya missed it" town between Joplin and Springfield. Received my order from Peak today so I'll be playing tomorrow. Their scents are unbeliveable.
