  1. That's the kind of orange spice I'm talking about! Wow you guys really helped me out... all kinds of resources to find somethign like Orange Spice.. but I wonder if the kind that is used in the Oranges and Apples dried is Orange Clove? Anyone know?
  2. So I've searched everywhere for what I'm looking for and I just can't seem to find it or I've over looked it! I'm looking for the Orange Spice scent that is used alot in the primitive potpourri. It's the greatest scent and I"ve found cranberry orange spice and other similar but it's still not the same. Anyone know of a dealer that sells a good Orange Spice? Also, anyone have any recommendations on "country candle" scents! I'm a big fan of a clean scent or a spicy scent but around here everyone is all about the bakery/spicy/cookie stuff. I need orange spice!!!!!!
  3. Where did you get Orange Spice? I've been searching EVERYWHERE for an Orange Spice FO!
  4. Hey everyone I make tarts and I'm just now getting to the point where I can make tarts with the same consistancy everytime. SOOOOOOO now all my clients want gift baskets for Christmas and there is just no way I can perfect the art of votives and containers by Christmas. I'm going to be trying containers this week, but I doubt I'll be ready to put them in gift baskets by the time these people want baskets. Anyways, I was hoping that some of you lovely people could send me some prices on your votives and small container candles. To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, I'm doing baskets with tarts, tart warmer, tealights and I'm hoping for some of the bigger baskets a container candle or a votive with a votive holder. I'll be getting the orders in next week, so I'll have more of an idea on quanity. How much do I need to order before I could classify as "wholesale" ? Hope you guys respond soon, my clients are having fits for me to offer votives and containers. Thanks
  5. I'm officially an addict to tart making and I'm about to try container candles. I setup little tackle boxes with samples of the 15 scents I have now. I have about 8 that were a real hit and now all the "reps" (aka people I gave scent sample boxes) to are begging me to get some more scents for Christmas. So basically this business is growing faster than I keep up. I'm sure Christmas has EVERYTHING to do with it. In anycase, I need some help with what dealers to get the FO's I have chosen from. I know the board supports Peaks, and all the Peaks scents I've tried are GREAT:Dbut I've also heard Just Scents and BitterCreek were great as well. THen I found ICS Indiana Candle Supplies. 1st - does anyone have any experience with the FO's from Indiana Candle Supplies? Here's the list, between JS, BCN, Peaks and ICS who would you choose for these scents Amish Harvest Banana Nut Bread Blueberry Muffins Vanilla Hazelnut Cinnamon Bun Pumpkin Pie Spice Jamaica Me Crazy Juicy Pineapple Honeysuckle Vanilla Butternut Crunch Clean Cotton Clothes Line Spruce Christmas Tree Snow Angels Jack Frost Pink Sugar Sweet Pea Other Scents we like Lovespell Sage and Citrus MacIntosh Bayberry Caribbean Holiday Mulberry Balsam Home for the Holidays Lilac Lavender Fresh Cut Roses Mandarin Bamboo Starfruit & Mango Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice Nana’s Apple Butter Grandma’s Kitchen Black Currant Red Currant Claire Burke Original Herbal Ecstasy Midsummer Night Ocean Mist Moonlight Path Tuscan Nights Snowy Pine *I heard Farmhouse had a GREAT version of this scent Like if you all could tell me who you think has the best version of the FO's ... that would be SUPER DUPER... and any cost saving tips on where to buy, without giving up quality would be GREATLY appreciated. Hope everyone is doing GREAT
  6. So the first round of tarts I made was with just normal wax you get at the grocery store and some FO I bought from the candle source. Smell was mega mega strong. So now.. I used the EcoSoya PB and IGI 4794. Okay on the ones I did that were totally soy, I'm having an issue with the tart not smelling for up to an hour or two after putting it in an electric melter, if I put it in my tealight melter it smells in about 30 minutes. Then I did a batch of 50/50.. same issue.. THen I did a batch of 25% soy and 75% 4794 and I am about to test them. What's the best wax to use for tarts in electric melters? Oh on all of these I used about 1 ounce to every pound of wax ... I'm starting to think I had beginners luck with the first round. HELP
  7. WOW! I LOVE that banner you have on your message! That's very NICE!
  8. Too Funny :tiptoe: Sneak attack guy.... Maybe it's Michael Jackson sneaking up bad humor...
  9. WOW jackelus.com has so REALLY PRETTY burners, do you know if inthe catalog they have the electric ones? ANd the prices onthe tealight burners at the other site are amazing! GREAT pricing! I found a few at my dollar tree but boy were they ugly! They were like baby poo green and white. HOping they will get somemore in soon! THanks for the help again.
  10. My hubby does "Memory DVD's" so I think I'm going to share a booth with him and his partner Which will cut my cost and also draw attention to my booth. Don't know if any of you know what a Memory Disk is, but it's basically where you take pictures, like say for a wedding, you would take pictures of the Bride and Groom from Birth to then and do a slideshow to music with them SOOOOO GOOD. ANyways, we would have a TV set up at the booth to show the slideshows and I think that would be something to draw people in! So I'm doing my first show next weekend ! I'm in Ellerbe North Carolina, which is basically classified as BFE North Carolina, the backwoods of nowhere. If any of you follow Nascar I'm right by the track in Rockingham, NC that is no longer on the circuit. As for this guy :tiptoe: Maybe he's a dyslexic Michael Jackson? Thanks for the pointers you guys As always you're the best!
  11. Very interesting! I guess in retrospect I havent seen a lot of soaps with all the ingredients in them. So when you list the ingredients, do you have to list the ingredients in your ingredients? Or could you just say, glycerine, etc. Sorry if I sound dumb to the ingredients of soap, that's because I am clueless when it comes to making b&b products. I am asking these questions for my partner. THanks
  12. Hi! I have a friend that I work with making my candle melts that also does soaps and other b&b stuff. Right now she does it as a hobby, but had a little interest in trying to sell some of her soaps and stuff. What are the legal issues involved in selling body products? Like what has to be listed on the label? I think I remember reading somewhere on here that you have to list the ingredient etc ... required by FDA? There's probably a ton of stuff posted on this already but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. Thanks in advance for any help
  13. Oh wow, so Nebraska has a Sandhills area too? too funny, like every town in AMerica has a Church Street.
  14. I think the idea of offering a discount if they buy online is a GREAT way to generate traffic to the site and get some orders! GREAT IDEA!!!!!!! I probably wouldn't be building a site so fast for my own stuff, but that's what I do for a living so it doesn't cost me anything but a little time to put a website up for my stuff! And you are so right about building it and they will come, that just doesn't happen! You have to advertise is somewhere. In my experience with websites, most of them generate the traffic to the site by putting the url on EVERYTHING they print, on the business cards, on the flyers, tags, bags etc. I need to check out costing on the keywords from google, anyone tried that yet? I haven't had any clients doing it yet, because most of the sites I have worked on lately are just not niche areas. Also, anyone had any luck with ebay and the ebay store? I know a lot of people that put some stuff on ebay, knowing it will go for way less, just to generate traffic and new customers. Anyone have any luck with this way of marketing?
  15. WOW! I am in the process of building my own website, because that's what I do by trait, and I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO Happy to hear most of you say you have success with it. But I have a few questions for those of you doing a lot of business on your site. 1. Do most of your clients find you on the web, or are they returning customers from shows, parties, etc? 2. If most of it is people finding you on the web, what method do you use to market the site? Search Engines? Paid Ads?
  16. Anyone know who has the best pricing on the tealight and electric tart burners? I've noticed some of the retail shops selling some VERY VERY pretty electric ceramic burners, the ones with the nice little pour top, looks like the top of a teapot. Where do you find those? I looked at the ones from Levine Gifts, but I still haven't found a great price on the really pretty ceramic ones. I think if I'm going to make any headway in a booth with wax melts, I really must sell the burners too. Anyone have suggestions? Also, I have the opportunity to do my first craft fair, It's $75 bucks for a booth and the lady said they have 3 candle vendors coming, only one is local and sells the wax melts. You guys think it's worth it? The fair is for one day and it normally brings in about 8 to 9,000 people. One more thing about the show... I think the two other ladies that are selling actually make their own candles, but not the tarts. The lady that is selling the wax melts, sells Time and Again melts, they are not homemade! ... THis is my first decision to do a show at all, so I don't know if 3 people selling candles is a lot at one show... I'm all confused! What to do? that is the question?
  17. I'm glad you guys like ... I normally design logos for more "professional" service companies so I wanted to make sure I hadn't made it to "cold and corporate" as they say. Now I can get started on my website. In repsonse to someone on here, gotta look back and see who.. I'm not from Nebraska, I'm from North Carolina. THANKS! for the feedback, I'm always my worst critic.
  18. YAH Now I'm not so confused anymore! Thanks for the speedy reply!
  19. Hi, I'm referencing the forum for scent suggestions and a lot of them have abbreviations of the scent supplier, like BCN etc. What do the abbreviations stand for? Like I guessed that BCN would be bitter creek north, but the rest I am totally clueless! HELP PLEASE
  20. BEAUTIFUL! I bet they smell as great as they look!
  21. Hi, just looked over the site and the design is very pretty! I noticed you posted something about screen size. I use a 1024x something for my default and smaller screens use 800 x 600, so it might be helpful to tell her to set the site to 800x600, that way if someone is using a bigger screen resolution, they would just see more pink around the sides, intead of having to scroll to read the information. HOpe that makes sense, if you have any questions about it, I design and develop sites, so I'd be happy to answer any questions. Good Luck and it looks GREAT!
  22. Thanks for the quick reply Fern. I've been using Candle Source FO's and I like them so far. Im anxious to try the Peaks FO's as I've heard rave reviews about them. I'm going to try the 50/50 blend with 1oz per 12oz wax and see how it goes! Wish me luck!
  23. Hey, if you need some help getting something up there really quick I can help you out. If you will write it I can get it up with some great graphics in about a day, that's just a one page deal, the info page referred to. I'll work it out in a small trade if you want. Also, if you'd like to see my work you can go to www.saulsnet.com .. check out all the links because the one for my design stuff is up but the links aren't working, I just switched it all over. HOpe this helps and GOOD LUCk, that really sucks that someone up and swiped your name like that.
  24. On the IGI 4794, the site says it holds 6%, anyone tried anymore than that with good results? THANKS for the wax ideas:D I can't wait to call tomorrow and hopefully go up there and get my wax! Another tart making addict in the making.
