  1. testing a lx10 right now....had a local candlemaker/shopowner tell me not to use zinc cored wicks since people may assume that they are lead....is that a concern of your buyers at all? I guess not since that's what you use...lol....thanks!
  2. I tried making a wax dipped teddy once...however the wife wasn't too happy that night when she tried to put it on....the wax chaffs....lol I hope I'm not the only one that gets that....
  3. You've got some nice looking colors there. The pastels are nice, however I'm partial to blue...so your blue layered really got my attention. Nice job! looking forward to seeing more....
  4. some of you may remember my trouble with candlewic's Soy125. I was not happy with the scent retention or the appearance of it. Well, I blended Soy125 with palm stearic and beeswax and came out with creamy votives and containers with no frost, no discolorations, perfect smooth tops and it's burning great as a votive so far.....just wanted to pass on the possibilities!
  5. Ok, so maybe I have a knack for using the wrong ones. I've tested close to 10 different wicks for votives. I don't know if I'm just to picky or if I am picking the wrong ones. Do you all typically have 1 wick for paraffin votives and 1 wick for soy. Do your wicks vary drastically within your votives? What do you normally use? Thanks in advance, Chris
  6. You need the wick pin taller than the mold so you won't completely cover the pin, thus filling in your wick hole. I use the little bit of left over wick pin to help pull the candle out of the mold. HTH
  7. BCS....Bitter Creek South in Texas BCN....Bitter Creek North in Wisconsin
  8. Just curious who is the preferred supplier for FO. I know there are many more to choose from...just curious about these two. If you have a different fav, don't hesitate to throw them on here....Thanks, Chris
  9. I'm not trying to be a stinker and light anybody up. Just trying to shine the light on a different perspective. take care "ya'll"
  10. I'm using cbl141 from candlewic. I pour around 175 but I also heat my mold first. of course the soy votive wax I used came out shiny as well but I did heat my mold.
  11. Call me a Jesus freak I guess. He's changed my perspective. If you take a time out and listen to people you'll find that whether at school, at the store, and even at church you'll hear people bash and put down their spouse. That behavior is like a disease. It will corrupt a marriage relationship. I think it's one thing to vent, we all need to. I just think we should be careful not to cross the line of healthy venting into the realm of belittlement, putting down, and criticizing ones being. Look upon each other with love and you'll find that the things that once ate you up that you needed to vent about, all of the sudden don't matter and you can laugh at it instead. Life is too short. I love my wife. I want to build her up not only to herself, but to other's as well. She is awesome....and everyone knows it! I will not speak a harsh word about my wife. I'm to love her as Christ love the church. He died for it. He did not belittle it. That's my standpoint. I'm very passionate about the marriage covenant and the purity that needs to indwell within in. I wish all would experience what I have and continue to experience. To live a life of love.....it will change you! Today is Sunday...guess I'm in my preaching shoes! Have a blessed day everyone! Happy candle making!!!
  12. I'm a newbie so I could be wrong...but I think the secret it pouring temp and metal molds. I've made tarts in both metal molds and plastic molds and find that I get a better shine pouring hotter into a metal mold. HTH
  13. I like the fact that I can make it now and wick it later. It does make it easier to test. Slide the coated wick in and test...if it's the wrong one, just pull it out and put in another one. That's my thoughts on it....Chris
  14. Thank you all so much for the compliments. I can't wait to get some things semi mastered so I can start selling.
  15. These are the ones that I wrote about a couple of weeks ago. Everybody that responded recommended that I don't sell them or give them away since the fragrance is so weak. Said I should keep them for a power outage.
  16. When my wife makes a mistake, I have to remind myself that I am not perfect either. I love her, mistakes and all. If she was perfect, she would be boring. I kinda like it that she close to perfect. Those little imperfections are what keeps it interesting and keeps me guessing. I know things can get frustrating...that's where mercy, grace and forgiveness comes in to play. What an amazing feeling when someone does something and you feel they deserve something for it, and you forgive them, smile about it, laugh, and tell them you love them. It's so freeing. You are blessed in the process and your love for that person grows in amazing ways! I know this thread was means of venting, however it gets frustrating when the world wants to do nothing but man/woman bash, husband/wife bash. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. If we give more of it, we are likely to receive more of it. That's my 2 cents anyway. Sorry your repour wax got ruined. I think I'd just remelt the first pours and make as many votives as possible with the good wax you have. Could be worse, he could've ruined the original before your first poured. It's like they say, "Don't cry over spilled milk!" Chris
  17. sort of...want to see if my product is crap or not! lol
  18. I don't want to copy someone elses work, I just want to compare a good one with mine to see if I'm on the right track. Formula doesn't matter, purely checking for scent throw.......Chris
  19. thank you CK....that's an honor coming from you!
  20. your display looks nice....hope it does well for you!
  21. everyone at home says the same thing....you forget they're wax when walking by...tempting to bite into one
  22. This is one of my very first candles a few months ago. First attempt at Draping. Part of it on the back side stuck to the mold...so you get to see the side that isn't missing pieces. I thought it looked like a sunset over the water...
  23. Here are the strawberry mottled votives I've struggled with scent retention....keeping these for a power outage I guess...I have a lot more than pictured. OOPS!
