I "think" Tony's has it.

forgot to ask....How far down did your burn the 105? Dont judge your wick by the first burns unless it is obvious it is too big or small.
I have learned to judge the bottom half of the jar or tin. Tins catch up VERY quick in the bottom half. I have taken the advice from a few of the "old people" on this board and am very pleased with the results.

I didn't get a full melt pool after 3 hours with the HTP105

Are you using just the EL Mill wax?? what jars are you using?
Try a CD 8 or 10 in the 6oz tin IF it is 100% EL wax

Just the EL Mill wax, nothing else. And the square mason jars

I love the whipped scrub too. That's why mine is called Munkey Whipz!

The other day I burned one of mine with an HTP1212. Full melt pool after 2.5 hours and I kept it lit for about 3.5 hours. The 2nd day the melt pool was about 1.5 inches so it seems that wick is a little big for the 2nd burn. But the HTP105 didn't work well at all for me. I've got a bunch of HTP wicks and CD wicks. Any suggestions?
Also, what would you suggest for a 6 oz tin? I don't have any ECO wicks.
I really want to get this wax to work since I can get it locally
Thanks

You're welcome! This weekend I've got to make 50 jars of scrub
-
I melt my hard oils, waxs and butters then add the liquid, room temp oils to the hot oils. I put that in the KA and walk away for 10-15 minutes. I add fo when it isn't clear anymore and I add preservative at the recommended temp. The last thing I do is add the sugar.
I do this too, but I also put mine in the fridge after the preservative. It firms up nicely and I keep this in a big container. Then when I need to make a scrub I take out the needed amount, add the FO, sugar and color.

I still use boxes lined with freezer paper. Can't get any cheaper than that!

I love Dans Bands

I do the same as Carrie does I put into an oven 170 for 25 to 30 minutes and cut within a hour but I let mine cure longer the longer the better!!!

This thread is really helping me! Thank you

Well looks like I may bump the ECO 8 up to a ECO 10. I am not getting a ful melt pool till after 3.5-4 hrs of burning in the 8oz sq mason. I like the ECO wick I am NOT getting ANY soot or smoking from it.
The RRD 47 is also doing well. I am getting a decent melt pool and SUPER throw. Just a VERY little sooting.

Where do you get the ECO wicks? I may try something different too. I get mushrooming with the HTP wicks.

That is a pretty big wick for that jar....But I mix the 6006 into the EL so I can wick down. I would think a HTP 105 would work good in that jar. I poured the EL Millinnium 100% one time and used a CDN 12 wick. I didnt use color and scented at I think 8%. I got NO HT from the wax. That is why I am mixing it now.

Yes that is a big wick but I did try an HTP105 and it didn't get a full melt pool after a couple hours. I even tried a CD12 and that didn't work that well. I don't use color and I scented it at 8% as well. With the HTP105 no hot throw, with the HTP1212 I get a pretty good throw, not as good as I would like and not as good as with parafin. I use HTP 73 or HTP83 with parafin in that jar

I bought both presto pots at thrift stores for about $5 each. I told them that if they trash them, no big loss, I could find another one! I usually use a ladel but this is going to be nice.
And thanks for the tip about making sure it's closed. That sounds like something I would to!

I've started testing with this. I can get it locally, no shipping! On the 8 oz square masons I "think" I used HTP1212 (can't get up right now to check my notes). Full melt pool in 2 hours, clean burn all the way down the sides.

I have 2 presto pots, and for Mother's Day my husband and son put spigots on them I can't wait to try them out, however I had foot surgery on Friday so it's going to have to wait.

Yay that you're coming to ISOCAN!!
You should participate in one of the swaps- or at least bring some goodies and just swap with me!
I'm in on the dish swap

I want to go too I just can't make up my mind.
You should go. I just booked my flight today. I've never done anything like this before, traveled on my own. I am so excited

I'm going to ISOCAN :yay:

Very nice:highfive:

Thanks Julia - what are you using for a mold? I have that 20-30 cavity ice mold for sports bottles....going to check Elements now (which is a mistake big time )
Trish
It's the white one from Wal Mart, I think that's the same kind.
I put it in the freezer a bit then I've got a wooden dowel that's the same size, push a little on one end and they pop right out
-
Yes it was heavy card stock
-
Thanks. Yes I "did" print them out myself for the longest time. Then I went to the printing store and had them do it. I figured the cost was worth it because I was always running out of green and yellow! It took me a LONG time to make that box.

Does anyone know or have used a shrink band that fits the crayons from the sports bottle ice cube mold? I know the lip balm tube wraps are too small....:smiley2:
Thanks,
Trish
Trish I do shrink wrap each of mine. The .5 oz tube shrink wraps work perfectly. I think I got them from Elements.

I pulled out the HTP1212 and put in an HTP105. I started it at 10:00 today, it is now 12:00 and I've got a small melt pool accross the top. So far so good.
I also poured some tins.
