I also liked the reddi glo diamond chips especially the orange. I had a hard time getting the same shade of orange each time.

I think there was a thread a couple of days ago about wax from there. Don't know if the kind of wax was mentioned in the post. I think Cindy replaced it though.

I like hemp core wicks. Not a big fan of htp wicks. Used some LX also. Haven't made any container candles in awhile. I miss it.

Is this the wax used to glue things on candles? It's not being made anymore and I can't find it anywhere. Is there something else I could get that would work instead?

And silly me I thought I was in soy wax section so I don't know if my suggestion for testing will work in other waxes

I pour a couple of jars with no wick at all. Then I poke a hole in the middle of each with a skewer, cut a piece of wick and push it down the hole and test. If I don't like it, pull it out and try a different size.

You'll want to read all you can about the pros and cons of soy and paraffin before you decide. If you're undecided get a sample kit of each and try them both. Then you should probably find suppliers as close as possible to you to cut down on shipping costs. If there is someone close enough to pickup from all the better. There are suppliers who have wick charts that you can use as a starting point for testing. There's no one company that's better than the rest as far as fo's, there's lots of good one and many opinions. Again you get what you pay for and you have to use quality materials to make a quality candle in my opinion. I'm sure you'll get lots of help for specific problems once you start testing.

JS are hit or miss but I love Becky's Ultimate Vanilla. Most of Millcreek's scents are very good. Also for unique scents try Candle Cocoon. More expensive but you can use less.

the heaviest blue tarp you can find and then duct tape around the edges of the carpet so it will stay put.

I like Ecosoya CB135. Truthfully though you should probably find a soy wax supplier as close to you as possible and then work with their wax. Could cut way down on shipping

So I want to make a hurricane for a friend. I wanted to do a square one with picture or design on each side. Will this be possible or do you have to work so fast that I won't have time before the sides start to harden. I have never made a hurricane before so I'll have to practice but i want to make sure this project is possible.

You can use container waxes in clamshells but I would add a little pillar or beeswax. When I made clamshells with straight container wax they crumbled and frosted terrible. Now they look great.

I dipped a few and they didn't look waxy. I only dip once so there is just a thin layer of wax and I only do light colors because red ones show the wax too much.

yes they have some good ones for soy. berry creme brulee is a good one.

Do a search and you can get a lot more info and opinions on these waxes. I like the CB135 but I have only used CB135 so I can't give you a comparison. It seems like I remember someone saying the CBA has a longer cure time but sets up better. You could pick up a lb of of CB135 and test it against what you bought to see which you like.

I'm in Buffalo and I haven't found suppliers of much of anything around here. Candles and Supplies is in PA if you want to drive. Some people use Fairway or the Jar Store online.

I have seen soy lotion bars for sale and wondered if this recipe could be altered to make it a soy lotion bar? Would it be more greasy?

if there's a lot of wax in the jar I would put he jars upright in the warm oven on a cookie sheet and pour out the wax (NOT down the sink) when it melts.

You might try jarstore.com but anywhere you can pick up containers, like Wal-mart, you'll save a lot on shipping.

I use Millcreeks Butt Naked in CB135 at 9% and get a good cold and hot throw. I'm not crazy about it but people buy it.
