How close are you to the US border? Here in Niagara Falls NY we have a place you can send to their address and you cross the border and you take across the border to Canada. Don't know what customs would cost you but maybe save some money

I was with Peak when I first started making candles about 10 - 12 years ago (not quite sure). They were my first supplier and just about the only one around. But after all this crap, I will never buy from Peak or Alan again. I didn't like the way they just closed the doors, especially at the start of the busy season. Don't trust him and there are others duplicating his fragrances, so if they are even close, I will keep the fragrances in stock.....if not, I will drop them from my line. I am tired of Alan's playing games!!!

I don't think I would like that set up. These people don't know your product, so if someone has a question, they probably would not know how to answer depending of what it was. Are you responsible for misinformation? Sounds like if they are working in "commission" they might say anything for the sale. You also have booth fees, so is that on top of the 15% you also have the give them? Also, those fees seem really high for 2 days. Not sure where you are from, but I have never heard of these. I have heard of pop-up shops, where the owners of the business run them just like a regular store for a set amount of time, like a month. Every area is different, so like Candybee said, if you are comfortable doing it, then go for it

@Scentedno problem....all is good. I think what he was trying to say was that if he already stocked it he was not going to duplicate it. I am not sure if it costs anything for the labs to test to dupe a fragrance and I think everyone has been scrambling to fill the void left by this sudden closing, especially with the holiday season coming up! By the way....I have not purchased from him yet....so no experience with him...just found him on FB thru other groups.

9 hours ago, Scented said:
Then we can go to work on something else lol! On Maple Street, I have no idea what was sent. Most of what I saw seemed to be him comparing scents to what he has so I stopped reading for now. I have other things to do.
I just threw this out there for somewhere to try....He said he was not going to dupe what he already had....but will go with what he doesn't have and can smell like the original Peak he will add to his inventory

This company is duping Peak scents...they are doing it slowly. There are a couple on this website and he is working of holiday fragrances. He had a ton of people send in scents for duplication. HTH
This is from the facebook page:
UPDATE: The first Peak (type)fragrances that we will be adding to our line will be:
Olde Town Bake Shop
Ginger Peach
Cranberry Oak
Holiday Festival
Wild Mountain Honey
Autumn Walk
Storm WatchThey have been ordered them and they will be here in about a week or so. There are PLENTY more coming down the pipe. They will be added slowly through the upcoming weeks.
When they are added there will be a sale. The fragrances will be added into their own category on the website ( as of now might change)
Thanks to all that have helped make these new fragrances possible.

My first thought was a deli/food container. Not sure if the sizes are compatible though. Also, if people have invested in one of these containers, why can't the people just empty the yankee wax and use they melts they purchase from you?

Would some jojoba beads work?

Try melting some clear MP soap, then put a very thin layer and glue the two layers together, spritzing the bottom and top layers

Thank you, I was also having trouble opening.

I use Print Shop and when you print your labels, it gives you the option of which label to start at and the number you want.
-
Try making it up with 2 business card templates....one for the front and one for the back. Then once that is done figure out how to reinsert the paper so it will print correctly (not upside down). That was how I used to do it.
-
You also need to look to see how long it will take to recoup the cost of the equipment. At $5900 for the equipment, selling soap with a $3.00 profit, you will have to sell 1,966 bars of soap.
If it were me, I would take the time with smaller molds till I built a clientele to justify the purchase.

Would a fabric sheet work, thinner than a micro cloth.

Call chemical companies, that is where I get mine

How pretty!!!

Those pictures turned out beautiful!! Your labels are fantastic, very upscale.

Planning ahead...if there is something I would like to try in the future, buying those items when I place a normal order.
Saves on shipping, instead of purchasing when I want to play, instead of paying for shipping for a couple of items.

Try something like:
I was speaking with (so & so) in (department name) and he suggested my candles would be a great addition to your store.
Then continue with the letter that sockmonkey provided.

Personally, I would wait too. You said it was $5,000/month, so right off the bat that is $10,000, just for rent. Are you required to carry any insurance? Do you need a phone line? Just some other costs to think about...
I know you are excited about this, but maybe you should take a step back and think about it. This is already Sept and 1400 sf is a big place to fill with stock.
You also said you do B&B and stated that you have The Body Shop in the mall already. What do you have that is different than them to draw their customers?
It sounds like that mall is there to stay, why not look into starting something next year, starting slow with a kiosk and see how it goes. That way you can get a customer base, working towards a retail space if that is what you really want.

Call your county court house, they will tell you what you need to do. I think it cost me $25.00 to register a business license with Niagara County.

I found some wick centering tools and contacted the people selling them to find out which size would fit their votive moulds (as there were no sizes on the moulds) and they told me not to use the tools, to use wick pins.
I would rather not wick my candles after they have been set, is that the best way to do it or can i still use the centering tools?
I hope that makes sense..
Are you talking about the metal votive molds? If so, your best bet would be a wick pin for votives. All you do is put the wick pin into the votive mold, pour your wax, let it harden and then pop out the wick pin. Then your wick will slide thru the whole created.
