  1. oh honey, brace your self for a fun time!!! go on the website and start picking out your colors...

I use these colors also and just a note about the color charts--

Make sure you choose the correct coloring chart--one is for less olive oil and one for a high content of olive oil.

If you use the wrong coloring chart, the colors will turn out icky and not what you are looking for---ask me how I know!!!!

  2. Terri--I emailed New Directions about picking up shipments in Cheektowaga and this is the email they sent me:

    Hi Nancy

We are so happy to hear you found us and like what you see so far. We look forward to supplying you with all you product needs. As for picking up your order, I am afraid unless you want to come to our Toronto warehouse that won't be possible. All of the orders ship out of our Toronto warehouse at this time. We are looking at shipping from the New York area, but that is a little further down the road. I hope you will order from us even though it is coming out of Canada. You don't have to worry about any extra fees being added to the order other than what is quoted as the shipping fee when you place your order. We absorb all brokerage etc fees. The orders ship from here within a couple of days and usually once they leave our warehouse they are in New York within a couple of days.

Thanks again for your interest in our company.

    Vicky

I don't know if they can pull the orders and set them aside or if it just used to get a large shipment thru customs. Let me know, it would be great to do pick ups!!!

  3. Ok, one of my projects for 2007 is to start selling pillars. I have been playing around with them to get the feel of pouring but now I am looking to get serious.

I think my basic question is when do you feel comfortable selling them? Do you test X number of them and then feel comfortable? I think I am more concerned about pillars being a free standing candle as opposed to a container.

I am not sure if I am asking this question correctly but I would appreciate any advice you guys can offer!

    Thanks

  4. I do not feel this thread is embarassing at all. I find it very informative. Everyone has a different opinion of what good customer service is, some customers are more demanding than others.

If Jenny feels she needs help or ideas on how to better serve her customers to imporve her business, good for her. I feel this is no different than asking on how to sell your product, securing accounts, etc.

I for one appreciate threads like this, because I appreciate everyone's constructive input. I feel this improves my business as well as everyone else.

  5. No kidding... LMAO! :grin2:

I just put a few things in my cart, one lousy box (maybe oversized?)

and the shipping was eeeeeeee gads. I am one state away, that is ridiculous.

This was my first order. It scares me.

If I decide to use them as a supplier, I can tell you that freight carrier will be the way for me.

I blame this on UPS, mostly.

I hate them with a passion, and the rates are off the chart.

Now that is funny because I just got my first shipment from them yesterday.

I think your box was oversized. I was playing around with ordering different jars and discovered that 2 separate orders were cheaper in shipping than one order for the whole thing. Call and ask if their freight charges on line were correct and the girl said yes. The difference was $20.00. So being 15 minutes away from you, that is what it sounds like!!!

  6. OMG don't even talk to me about labels LOL I was pulling my hair out for hours yesterday. I give up. Taking a break today. Hmmmmm how many labels did I waste. Many:cry2:

What I do is print the labels I make on a plain sheet of paper and then put the plain sheet over the labels, go to the window and see if they fit. I do a whole sheet to see if they all line up and what needs to be tweaked.

A little more time consuming but saves on labels!!!

  7. I just went thru this. I also have Print Shop and make custom labels. I first printed the template on the Labels by the sheet website--the one with the spacing. I think if you click on the picture of the label, it will give you the spacing.

Then in Print Shop, go to Tools then custom label wizard. I found the template the closest matched the format I was looking for. Just go thru the wizard and it will take you step by step. **Remember to rename the labels when it asks for it**

It still took some tweaking, but that is how I did it

  8. Just wondering,

I am looking into doing favors with soap and even though I am not opposed to using MP, I was trying to look for some consistency with my soaps. I wanted to use the same ingredients in my favors as in my regular soap.

When rebatching, is it as versitile as MP? Are you able to do the "details" as with MP, such as outlining or detailing in a different color? I tried using individual molds with CP and could not get the hang of it. I was looking in the gallery and all I could find were pictures of log or slab molds.

P.S. All the soaps look really great but not what I was looking for!!!!!

  9. Warting is caused by too much FO, coloring or water. Try cutting down on all of those and then give it a try.

I just had a whole batch of Get Fresh wart on me last week - so I feel your pain!

Now I don't feel so bad, having the Queen of the Bath Bombs getting warting!! LOL

I used less liquid than usual, don't know what happened. Thanks for all your help, will try again at a later date.
