  1. Have you tried the library? The reference desk may not have actually what you need but might be able to steer you in the right direction. Also maybe a local college, the one by my house has something like a business research area.

Actually, thanks for having me answer this, maybe I will wander over there to do some research!!

  2. Rachel, thanks for the info. I have not finalized my wholesale stragedy(sp?) yet, I was trying to find a price for places that maybe didn't want to carry a whole line of candles, maybe just have some at a counter for impulse buys.

I was also thinking I would give perks to orders over, say $100 such as free shipping maybe.

I have no problem crediting back the money they paid for the sample, like I said, just didn't want people getting free stuff and never hearing from them again. I feel you have to give something to get something and if they actually ordered a sample package, a credit back to them on the first order may just be enough to be a consistent customer.

Thank you guys for your suggestions and will welcome others

  3. I am trying to branch out into wholesale accounts and was wondering if anyone has tried this.

Without spending a lot of money, I wanted to send an intro letter with a brochure and within the letter stating something to the effect of: For $20.00 including shipping, I will send you a sample pack of product and the $20.00 will be deducted on your first order over $40.00.

Is that tacky? My reasoning behind this is I don't want to spend a fortune in packaging and shipping sending samples to stores who are not interested but at the same time, I do not want the skanks requesting samples who are not interested at all but just want something for free.

I suck at marketing so any comments are greatly appreciated!!!

  4. That is too cool!!! If it was this time last year, I would have been more than happy to get you one. My BF and I were traveling between Colorado or California and New York about once a month and would have been more than happy to find a AA terminal and have someone grab one off the plane for you.

At least that would have given us something to do during the lengthy lay-overs!!!

  5. on you. Yesterday I ran to the drug store to pick up something and there was a fundraiser going on in front. And of course, I didn't have a brochure on me. I had just printed them and hadn't folded them and put some in my purse yet, so I ran home, got one and gave it to a lady at the fundraiser to pass it along to the people involved.

So, note to self......always have a brochure available!!!!!!!

  6. I haven't totally decided on pricing yet but yes the jars are a little more expensive. I was thinking of taking a little less profit on the 4 oz jars, but make it up in selling the larger jars. I was just looking for jars that were a little out of the ordinary.

  7. WSP is discontinuing the 20 oz. We have to replace it with something so I might go with the 12 oz. not sure yet.

    Terri

Thanks Terri--I got them from Fillmore Container, I found them when WSP announced they were discontinuing the 20 oz. Fillmore has 4, 12 & 20 in Morgan jars.

  8. Wishing you the best with your surgery, but don't be too quick to give up candles. My Mom had her hip replaced a couple of summers ago and within 6 months she was basically doing everything she had before and the next summer she was out mowing the lawn, gardening and has no restrictions on anything she can do. And she says she has never felt better!

So don't be too hasty, maybe even in a couple of months you can start to get back into it slowly

  9. Not sure what you were using before...but they look "upscale" to me!

    Very Nice!

How are you going to label them?

I was using 1.5 oz, 4 oz and 9 oz Hex which I am keeping, but I also had flowerpots and a round jar which I think I am discontinuing maybe only for special orders.

The labeling is another issue. I was thinking of round labels for the morgan jars and square for the frosted. Any input would be appreciated and welcomed!!!

  10. Very nice. How hard are the footed ones to wick?

The 4 oz one I used an LX12 and seems to be burning fine, no hangups, but the 10 and 18 oz ones have some hangup. Still going thru my first test burn and waiting to see if it catches up with itself or need to wick up
