Question on dipped animlas and TP

Okay quick question. I do the dipped animals and I have done dipped hand towels and wash clothes as a gag wedding gift.(oh that basket came out so nice too dipped towels, candles and ect, nice...good laugh too)

I met someone who also makes canldes and dippies, and she said she does not ringing or squeeze and wax out of her animals and she doesn't pluck and of the fur or anything.( I lightly ring mine out if it is dripping like crazy and I pluck up anyfur or hair on mine) Her dippies seem to sell well for her. I did see some of her work and wasn't too impressed on her dippies.(they just looked thrown together) Does anyone else make them like this? Is this the true/real way these are to be made? Am I doing something wrong?

Oh and how do you dip TP? That must make a mess!!!

1. I use a double roll of TP, usually Angel Soft.

2. I then mix my wax, scent and color (if you want color). I use 1

lb wax for 1 roll of TP.

3. In a kettle (big enough for the TP to roll and sit up), I start by

pouring some wax on top and then turn TP over and pour some more. then lay

the TP on its side and pour wax again, slowly, and then roll the TP to soak

up all the extra wax.

4. I then sit the TP on a dryin rack until completly dried.

5. Add ribbon or anything after its dried.

Or if you want the cinnamon bun look..

After TP is dried, I take Vanilla scented wax and slowly drizzle over the

top. Let that harden and repeat a few more times to layers of drizzle.

I added a pinecone in the cinnabun one but you can add anything, but make

sure it wont fall through the hole..LOL.

I then scent my own rosehips to match the scent of the TP.

I put the TP in a basket or anything I think looks neat, add the rosehips

around it and add same scented melties and thats about it.

I like using the wicker baskets that paper plates sit in.

It takes about 2-3 cups of rosehips to fill around the sides.

OMG that is so GORGEOUS!!!!!! I do not think I could ever do that!!! WOW you have pefected that!! Now how much does dipped TP sell for? LOL. I should have given that as my gag wedding gift. LOL. I love that.

It looks good enough to EAT (ha) I dip TP but add flowers & such to mine.....they are easier then the dipped bears. There selling very well for me too!!

I agree with you Diane, I don't care for the look of the wax dipped animals if they aren't squeezed and combed. To me it's too much wax just globbed on the little critter. I make the wax dipped bears on special order only and also do the toilet paper which is a whole lot easier and quite a conversational piece! Try it, they're fun.

I am also glad I am not the only one who doesn't like my dippies to be all globbed up and their fur stuck to them. I like them fluffed up and with a slight look of wax on them. Hey whatever works best for each of us.

I too squeeze the excess wax off the dipped animals and take a fork and fluff them up as well. I like them to look as close to non dipped as possible while still being dipped and they sell very well for me. Well I should say they sell well around the holidays or special occasions when people buy them as gifts.

I have only played around with TP once and it wasn't cute at all lol. I do like the one in the thread of the pic posted, that's amazing!!

I understand that the stuffed animals are decorative and smell good. I'm trying to figure out what people do with the toilet paper though? I don't understand. Sounds like it would be fun to do. :-)

Decoration for the bathroom/bedroom or wherever, depending on how it's decorated!

I sell the dipped TP for campfire starters. I roll the outside in pine needles. This way I can use up my old used wax.

...I dont get the dipped TP, I just dont get it, lol. it kinda reminds me of the toilet paper cozies. Seems... odd. The dipped animals are cute when done right though! The firestarter idea sounds really smart too

What a very unique idea! I absolutely love the way you have this displayed!

I think you did an incredible job and I love all the trimmings you added, it made it look finished but not cluttered, I would buy that for several spots in my house!!

See now you've all done it, my husband thinks you're all crazy lol. I was looking at the picture of the dipped tp (beautiful btw) & he says

'That's a pretty candle, I bet it burns really pretty'

So I had to tell him it was dipped tp and make a note in my mind never to make one, because, while I love him, he'd be one looking for a wick to light the thing after dinner one night (and he'd think the pine cone was a fancy wick)

I don't fully 'get' the dipped animal trend, but it does seem to be getting more and more popular, especially for things like baby's rooms around here. It may be worth looking into. (Especially since, as of today I am a new Auntie to a little girl, my poor son is still the only boy of his generation lol)

Oh wow! I've been planning to try the wax dipped bears, but I have to say I am also intrigued by the TP! I never would have thought of that but love the idea. Candle making is just endless fun!
