I used to sell partylite years ago and the only thing they would disclose about their wax/formula was....it is highly refined paraffin wax and they use unbleached cotton wicks and some wicks with a paper core. I know its not much but thats ALL they would ever let the customers know.

I have been having this same problem. I did call my supplier a few weeks ago to report this problem with them since on their website it says "they dont come off".. I told them that the wicks ARE coming off the tabs... their response to me was, be careful when pouring and straightening the wicks, and they have not seen this happen from anyone else sooo.... needless to say, I have switched suppliers for my wicks now and am re-testing everything again. I may try candlewic since you all seem to like them... Thanks, Jennifer

I have a boy and a girl and they both LOVE to do crafts. oriential trading has some different supplies to make crafts with and pretty cheap (we order from them alot) Also, if you go onto www.sproutonline.com they have different crafts to make and its all for smaller children. Not sure where you live but they also have a sprout tv channel here in PA that they show different crafts (my kids love it)

Well, for me anyways it is NOT the amount of FO. I have tried 1oz - 1 1/2oz and everything in between. and it is still happening with all amounts.

I was wondering if you ever figured this problem out yet???..... I have been having this same exact problem. My jars are clean, its just on the top of the wax (lookes like someone took a black marker and were drawing lines on it) .... and for me it looks like the wick is somehow "peeling" at the bottom where it comes out of the wax...I dont know how else to describe it. :rolleyes2 and the weird thing is we are using different wax. I use C3 wax and CD wicks (i tried ECO but i had similar problems with them)...for me I have ruled out dye and scent now i am testing just plain wax and I have an order of CD wicks coming in a few days from a different supplier just to check them out too. Well, I love the look (as many others) of the advanced...I think it makes a really beautiful candle...as far as the HT, I have only found a few sofar, from CS honeydew melon, lilac, cinnamon sticks, cinnamon bunn, pumpkin souflee, and very vanilla have all been up to my standards with the HT at 1oz PP....I have tried many others from CS but, not many made the cut...also I let cure for 4 days if that helps you any!!! I since then gave up on the CB ADV. and now use it with a blend of 464 wax...so I feel I get the best of both waxes.. HTH JEN

Hello, I wanted to know what your experience has been with how long the scent will last using polypropelene bags?? I know they hold the scent in but, for how long?? weeks days months years LOL..I have made a whole lot of aroma beads and tarts and I need my glass jars back....to make more...so, I thought I would bag the beads then package them up...what do you think??? any information you would be willing on sharing I THANK YOU!!! SORRY to hear of your migrains:sad2: I too have the same problem actually my kids suffer as well!!!! some people are effected more so than others. Just like allergies(sp?) What ever the chemicals are that the manufactures use to make the FO's that is where your problems lie..I have found a few people who smell my candles and other stuff they say they smell a chemical first wiff then the scent so, everyone is different!!!...as far as what to do....a few things I have found to help with certain scents is to open my windows or turn the fan on...only problem is that your testing will be a little more intense with a small draft (you have to test around that) wearing a face mask helps as well...that is what I have found to help myself and my children...I hope I have helped you....and good luck!!!! I use CS oils, I have not tried all yet but, here is the ones I have tried with good HT.....clean cotton, honeydew melon, cinn.sticks, mac apple, strawberry shortcake, pumpkin soufflee, lilac, cinn. bunns, lavender, mango papaya, love spell, very vanilla, baby powder...those are the ones I have tried sofar...hope that helps you a little.... Pristina, I am still new at this, but I thought I would share my thoughts anyways....I use 464 wax from CS I have not had a problem (so far) with the HT....I dont know how much FO you use, but I use 1.5oz pp I have kick butt HT in all the scents I have tried sofar... I am using a 6oz hex jar about 2 3/4" diam and cd wicks...I know everyone is different just like every wax is different and every nose is different....but I like a candle big or small to have a kick butt HT and CT and that is what I get so I am happy and so is everyone else who comes in my house lol Anyways, I hope I have helped you somewhat and dont give up on the wax....it truely is an easy wax(IMO) Jen

Hello Everyone, I apologize if this is the wrong place for this......:tiptoe: A friend of ours asked me about making hot tub aromas....have any of you ever heard of it or made it yourself and would not mind sharing how to do it...do you just get some FO(skin safe) and dilute it:confused: ...........they said, they buy a pack at walmart $8 and pour it in and it makes the water smell good??? anyways, thank you in advance for any info you would like to share with me..... Brudil18, Hello and thank you for the advice, NO I have not poked the wax or did any type of re-pours! I guess I never even thought about the air pockets could cause the "shrooms" and soot......thank you very much I will try that with the next batch....question though, do I poke around the wick after it has hardened??? and then fill the holes with the repour??? is that how you are supposed to do it?... When you are testing your candle can you test the same candle 2times in one day??? and still get an accurate result???.... *** test burn your candle at 7:30 am for your time span (diam) then let it harden and light it again to test in the evening of the same day?*** THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!!!!! JEN

Stella, I am sorry, I am using a 6oz hex jar about 2 3/4" diameter.....I know the JJ's and masons are "not as tricky" to wick, but I really wanted to try a different look and that is why I am using the hex jars..... I know I am new at this but, I am up for the challange.....(I think) LOL... anyways, I tried the cd8 (too small of a wick)...cd10 (has a large shroom) ... and the cd12 (small shroom and the glass is soooo hot that, you cannot even touch it) and the scent is lilac from CS also, I am "testing" this scent...not a power burn on it yet.... I am sorry to bother you with this....I really do appriciate you taking the time to respond to me though!!!!! (I always thought soy wax will not shroom and give off black soot) I guess I am wrong on that theory!!! or at least not in my wax/dye/fo combo THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!! Jen

stella, THANK YOU for your help.....I know you said you use the CDN wicks....do they "mushroom" for you??? or am I just needing to do more wick testing to get rid of the "mushrooms":confused: ......I have decided I do not like the Eco and rrd's...I do like the cd's (I will have to try the cdn's)...I can't figure it out....(I have everything the same to test) if my wick is a size bigger than I get no mushroom but, I get a jar that is TOO HOT!!! and if I go a size lower in the wick I get a mushroom and the jar is fine :rolleyes2 ....am I looking at this the wrong way??? please any more information you would be willing on sharing with me I would be greatful!!!! Hello Everyone, I have a few questions...first, how can you really tell if your wick is "clogged"? will it burn differently or look different or smell different??? also, is it safe to say, when testing..and you have a small / med / or large mushroom on top of wick, does that mean you do not have the "right" wick size or type for your candle combo??? I know that dye and FO contribute to the wick not burning properly I just wanted a little advice what to look for (or will all wicks have some type of carbon build-up???)
