  1. Yes, i know exactly what you are saying. I am testing ECO wicks right now. I like the way they burn in a larger jar, but I hate the way on the 2nd burn the flames shoot up high out of the jar and it smokes a little. I wonder if there is a true self trimming wick on the market. And to answer your question. I think wicks do something vary from one supplier to the next.
  2. After trying several over the past few months, I prefer SFIC too. I buy the white and add my own goat's milk. I get it from LoneStar but they have it in the clearance section now so I am not sure if they are planning to stop selling it. I may have to find another supplier that's not too far from me.
  3. In my opinion J223 is much better than 4630.
  4. Don't you just love it when you stumble across something that works perfectly? I use that wick in my 4 oz. short squatty hex jars. And I use them to double wick my 12 oz short squatty hex jars. That wick works very well for me in those applications. I am partial to zinc wicks, but I use CD wicks sometimes too.
  5. Wow, mine are a big difference from what you all are using. I use CD 5 with that wax in votives. I get a perfect burn every time. Slow burning, good scent throw, if it hangs up a little it catches up, and it burns all the way down till the wick burns out.
  6. In my opnion J223 is better than 4630 all the way around.
  7. I use 6006 too, and I always get it from CS. I didn't realize they discontinued it because I am well stocked with about 60 lbs. Well shoot. I hate to hear that. That wax is fairly easy to cut. Great scent throw. Comparable to J223. Easy to wick. The tops need a little bit of attention as they do sink a little. The heat gun can easily fix that though. The wicks I like for 6006 are CD or Zinc. I just looked at CS. It is not discontinued. The price has gone up though.
  8. I am still watching this thread - thanks for the help. My glycerin came in today. I am going to try 1 batch with the extra glycerin, one batch without. Also I'm testing a different MP base. The first bases were SFIC. These I got today are Crafter's Choice that came from wholesale supplies plus. I have Snowdrift bases coming next week. I am testing several before I settle on one certain brand. I was wondering ... So the glycerin that's already in the soap base is what makes the lather? And by adding a tiny bit more it increases the lather? Glycerin is an oil though isn't it? I thought oils inhibit the lather. Forgive me for being so dumb. I am trying to figure this all out. Thanks again for the help. I like the idea of adding a sliver of shaving soap that someone suggested too. This reminds me of when i started making candles and knew nothing. lol

I use 4794 too. It has a moderate melt point. Good scent throw. Takes dyes very nicely.
  10. Thank you all very much. I will buy some veggie glycerine then. I need to put in an order anyway. I appreciate your help. :smiley2:
  11. I have found there to be some noticable difference, yes. You might want to try a different type of wick in that particular candle. When all else fails, I always fall back on my zinc wicks.
  12. I meant coconut oil. Sorry about that. Thanks for your help. :smiley2:
  13. I'm using SFIC white melt & pour. I love this soap, excellent qualities, super creamy, but it needs more bubbles. How would I go about achieving this? I've tried the extra CO and that didn't really help. Thank you in advance. I'm going to search the threads, but went ahead and posted a new thread in case I can't find anything.
  14. Congrats, Ana! I'd be thrilled too! Don't let the rudeness bother you. Altough my feelings would have been hurt too. Some people become extremely emotionally involved with their craft and have high opinions of themselves. I guess some people do earn the right, but being a little more kind about it sure wouldn't hurt. I will be making M&P with additives starting this week. If it turns out great I will asbolutely be selling it in the near future - regardless if it takes a few months or a few years. if it passes the tests and is a high quality product, then so be it.
