I need some tart warmers - NOT ELECTRIC - to sell with my tarts and cannot source them here in Iceland (well, not at a good price). Had a look at some US wholesale websites, but of course I do not have a Tax ID. I need a box of say 12 or 24 for Christmas. Does anyone know of a company that has a good variety of tart warmers and sends overseas?? Thanks.

I have long admired these candles and go and drool over them sometimes. The top to bottom glow is fascinating and I particularly love their leaf cubes and wilderness collections. They say on their site that it has taken many years to develop the "secret candle glow" and I cannot begin to fathom how it is done. Good luck with the experimenting and you may discover that you develop something unique along the way.:smiley2:

Hi Debscent, thanks for replying. I would just like to try something new and have about 15 votive moulds to start with!! I have masses of 1oz scents and thought I could maybe use these to make some chunk votives. Maybe I could make the chunks using one scent and then a complimentary scent for the overpour?? If I melt 1lb of wax for the chunks, cut this up small, then I guess I do not need much for the overpour. Guess I will have to experiment. Just writing down my thoughts sometimes helps, so maybe I have answered my own question.:embarasse Appreciate any tips you may have though.:smiley2:

Thanks I did that, I´ve been a member of this board since March 2006 so always try and research my questions first, but the instructions are not for votive chunk candles. I even did a search and found some info that was helpful, but not specific.

I would really appreciate some help with making chunk votives. Is there an efficient and practical approach to making these? Do I just melt and scent a pound of wax to make chunks and then do the same for the overpour? I just know I am going to make too many chunks and not have enough overpour if I do not get some advice from the good people of this board first. Would you mind explaining your method of making chunk votives, to get me started in the right direction. Thanks so much.

I make and sell rustics and they are very popular. I have made some lovely smooth red pillars for Christmas, but my oh my, get a scratch on it, or fingerprints and what a hassle to remove them. I have tried the nylon stocking trick to buff them up, but they do not remain shiny doing that and get a stray piece of wax on it and then buff that and well I may as well chuck it back in the pot. So how do you keep your smooth looking pillars looking good? Oh, and in answer to your question - I do not think a picture can do justice to a rustic, make a few and I am sure there will be someone who will like them.

I use a straight paraffin wax and use up to 3TBS Stearic per pound of wax. I do rustic layers and get a good frosting effect, but if I pour too cold (64°c), then I can get some of the frosting staying in the mould when I remove the candle. Try varying your pour temps and see what happens.:smiley2:
