Spooled Wick Storage

Recommended Posts

I've always kept my spools in zip bags to protect the wick from everything. But now that I've got so many spools - different types/sizes - my DH is offering to make me a handy 'rack' for super easy access. I would love it for convenience - but my question is if there is any real reason a zip bag would be better for them? My shop is in the basement, so heat/humidity isn't really a problem. TIA for your advise!

I'm sure that there is nothing magic about the zip lock bag. Just keep spools away from moisture, mice, strong light, and other agents of decay and you should be fine. Most basements I've had have had a moisture problem and needed a dehumidifier. Good air flow will also cut down on mold issues. How quickly you use a spool is also a consideration.

I'm a firm believer that organized candlemaking is not possible without rubbermaid, ziplock and huggies (think their stackable wipe containers, perfect for wick tabs, wick stabilizers, hot glue sticks, etc.)
