kforbs126
I know I've seen a few posts here about people who make palm wax clamshells but my search hasn't resulted in what I'm looking for. I tried this but I forgot that palm wax is so hot so when I poured it around 190/200ish it disfigured my clamshells.I want to know if anyone makes Palm clamshells. If so what temp do you pour? Do you sell them? Do they stay as well as the individual tarts? Edited June 20, 2012 by kforbs126
Vicky_CO
I do not pour palm but I do know you have to keep your wax temp under 175 or the clamshells will warp.
GoodScents
I poured a couple because I had left over wax from making votives. Since it was left over I have no idea what the pour temp was but they still crystallized beautifully and did not warp the mold. I poured the votives about 190 so I can imagine the wax was in the 170 range by the time I got to the clamshells. Not much help but you could probably do it with a lower pour temp. kforbs126
Thanks for the info. I'm going to try it maybe tonight or tomorrow. Does anyone know if palm takes on the plasticy smell if stored in clamshells?
kforbs126
I wanted to update. I just poured @ 170 in a clamshell and it didn't deform. I'm excited. It looks really cool.
Faerywren
I do palm clamshells. I haven't had any issues with the wax smelling of plastic. Some I poured last fall smell just as good now as they did then. I for sure warped a few by pouring too hot in the beginning. I use feather palm.
